Love the H&M dress - very tempted by the white but guess it's not my style. Love the one shoulder and the cut out though.

Love all the H&M hauls, Blair those shoes are even more bargainous now they have gone into the sale.

I am melting today with lack of appropriate summer clothing. Was wearing my Zara broderie top and white jeans [boil]. Now wearing PJ shorts and a vest but need to get dressed again as going out.

One have you tried Ultrasun? I haven't but it sounds good, with no nasties. It will be my next suncream I think.

Is it the white one shoulder dress you like Shop? It does look good.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 01/07/2015 14:47

Thanks all! Just hope I ordered the right size, H&M sizing can be so dodgy.

Linus I've never seen the "premium" range in store either. Do they deliver to you?

One wow sounds like you're really sensitive! Hopefully you can find one that works for you.

QueenCardigan · 01/07/2015 15:40

one are you applying it often enough?

OneLittleLady · 01/07/2015 16:13

i'm applying every hour queen dont go in water and am covering shoulders.im staying in the shade as much as i can and drinking water and other non alcoholic fluids constantly as ive had heat/sun stroke before and its blooming horrible.

AmberNectarine · 01/07/2015 16:19

Blimey one, I haven't even worn any so far this year. I suppose I'm quite olive skinned which helps. Definitely try a different brand!

LinusDKD · 01/07/2015 16:26

I use Ultrasun on the DC and it's great.

blair H&M don't deliver here and they don't even have the premium stuff on the website. Hmm

OneLittleLady · 01/07/2015 16:45

amber my legs especially are so pale i'm surprised you didnt see the glare from them while i was local to you Grin Grin

Drywhiteplease · 01/07/2015 17:01

One why don't you try total sunblock for kids? My Ds has very fair skin and I lathered him in the stuff (Amber Soleil or Boots) and her never burnt. unlike his idiot mother Grin

Amber bet you look awesome in the dress.

Today I wore cotton, cotton, cotton....the thought of any mm fibres made me shudder. And sandals. I'll be doing exercise tonight in air con.

Totally love this amazing weather..... Just nothing better than feeling the warmth on your skin.

shopafrolic · 01/07/2015 18:12

Just bought two Dyson fans. Ridiculous £££££ but DH wanted them. They'd better be good.

OP posts:
Drywhiteplease · 01/07/2015 18:26

I think anything Dyson is good Shop and worth the money

maradesbois · 01/07/2015 18:32

Evening,

It's v hot but dull here (not in London but can't wait to get back there!). I managed a 5k on treadmill in gym with ropey aircon but definitely couldn't have gone outside.

Linus and Blair great H&M hauls.

Was briefly at Bicester yesterday as we were passing but managed to spend a fortune mostly on impulse Blush. Got this anya h straw bag that have liked since it was in store last summer. It was reduced to £123 which I know is still extortionate for a beach bag as per discussions last week but really like it. Also bought a dress from Céline that was 70% reduced but still £££ and can't be refunded or exchanged. A very non-mara spur of the moment purchase! It's an olive green silk shirtdress, fab loose minimalist cut as you'd expect. Can't find a link anywhere.

libertychick · 01/07/2015 18:41

one lots of medications can make you more sensitive to the sun. I used to have really sensitive skin (wierdly seems to have toughened up as I age) and most sunscreens would bring me out in a rash very like sunburn and then any sunlight would make it worse. Eventually a pharmacist I went to in desperation in Spain suggested I only use oil free sunscreen. Lancaster does very good oil free sunscreen but it is pricy. As your skin sounds now like it is already irritated I think you need to stop putting anything on and wear loose cotton tops that completely cover the sore areas until it heals and when it has healed try an oil free sunscreen. It's a total PITA. I had several summers in my 20's where I had to keep covered up all summer.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 01/07/2015 18:53

Love the bag mara, it's definitely smart enough to not just be used on holiday! The dress sounds great too.

shop wow, 2 dyson fans! DH wants one but I won't let him because they're so £. Of course, it will probably be this hot for the rest of the summer now! Also we would be able to get a cheaper one at Costco but we've just been, so it's the principle.

This year I've basically decided to stop exposing my skin to the sun as far as I can help it. Since my face became so sensitive to the sun (medication) I no longer like the feel of sun on my skin. I have dark hair and pale skin and eyes, and lots of moles, so really just feel it's not worth it. Natural fibre clothes with lots of coverage are so hard to find though :(

Linus that's annoying, if I hadn't just done a big order (and also I have to get it delivered to my mum's because of their crap system) I'd offer to do one and forward it on to you.

OneLittleLady · 01/07/2015 19:10

thanks lib I'm going to make a doctors appointment and see what they can suggest, i think i vaguely remember that one of my meds, at least one of them, makes you more sun sensitive. there could be more, its so hard to keep track with the amount i'm on now. my gp is very good so will see what he can suggest as i really don't want to risk making myself ill

shopafrolic · 01/07/2015 19:21

Trust me Blair I could have spent the £££ on something far more stylish but once he gets an idea in his head he cannot be stopped.
Mara Celine sounds perfect :)
3 more sleeps till France
One you didn't look burnt in your Instagram pic - just lightly tanned. Sorry to hear you're sore.

Meant to say I have a new girl crush having watched all the Glasto coverage. I'm a bit in love with Lauren Laverne. Esp her braided hair and her style.

OP posts:
QueenCardigan · 01/07/2015 19:30

I love being in the sun and getting brown. I feel I look much better with a bit of a tan and sun bleached hair. Im careful to try and not let myself burn but invariably I'll miss bits. I don't like exposing my décolletage too much to the sun though as I think that can look aging in later years. one you may need to apply more than hourly. I think I'm right in thinkng that factor 50 will let you stay in the sun 50 times longer than you could othetwise without burning. So if you're really sensitive to the sun maybe you would burn within a minute or two? It sounds safer for you to stay covered up and out of the sun entirely.

Love that bag mara and dress sounds great too.
linus and blair great h&m finds. I've pretty much given up going in there as my local one always has that jumble sale feel about it and I can't be bothered to rummage for the decent stuff.

OneLittleLady · 01/07/2015 19:46

Shop the lighting in the room i took the pic makes it look better than it really is Grin it's the backs of my shoulders that are the worst, they are a sort of mucky looking pink and brown, it's really not attractive! I'm going to start the hunt for light cover ups and start reapplying half hourly with the sun cream. not planning to go anywhere for the next day or two so will be indoors and out of the suns glare so hopefully the stinging will subside a bit

it's 33, yes 33 degrees here right now so I dunked a tee in cold water and i'm sat wearing that with the fan blasting at me. it's the humidity that's getting to me the most, it makes my joints swell

bettykt · 01/07/2015 20:01

Feeling hot hot hot Grin

I too love the sun and am determined not to moan that it's too hot. Slung on the Boden Blackberry dress for work, lucky I work in a casual environment.

One well done about your results, great work, sorry to hear you're burning in the sun.

Great H&M purchases Blair & Linus I too should take a look at their website.

Great bag Mara and love the sound of the Celine dress.

Another holiday already Shop Envy only seems like last week since you got back from GC also very Envy about the Dyson fans.

shopafrolic · 01/07/2015 20:07

Betty as the longest standing Voguettes will testify holidays have been a bit of a sore oint since DS was born. I usually have to battle for even a week in Dorset so believe me, 2 abroad in one year is a complete rarity.

OP posts:
BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 01/07/2015 20:33

shop where are you going in France? Tis my next holiday destination too, but not til end of August.

Am annoyed because sandals I tried on months ago went into the &Other Stories sale today and are already sold out!

betty it is really hard to dress for work in this climate isn't it? I feel for men who have to wear trousers and shirt and tie with proper shoes. My feet swell so I just break out the sandals.

LinusDKD · 01/07/2015 20:39

blair I remember one summer when I was working in London and during my trip to Canary Wharf on the boiling Jubilee Line, my pink shirt got soaked in sweat so when I got off the first thing I did was go and buy a new shirt to wear.

I could not have walked into the office like that and thank god TM Lewin was open early!

A Céline dress mara! Swoon!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 01/07/2015 20:48

Linus yes very lucky, ugh that sounds horrible! I'm so glad I don't work in town during this heat. Also, where I live trains aren't air conditioned, ugh.

MarshaBrady · 01/07/2015 20:53

Mara the Céline sounds so lovely!

I loved today, still think it's fab now. Was excited to see 35 on my iphone at one point.

One saving grace is that half the train bails out at my stop so I usually get a seat and it's not bad at all.

I travelled from Clapham North the other day, now that is not pleasant. Backs squeezed up to the glass, waited for the 7th train before I could get on without doing that. Being squashed on pt makes me feel too claustrophobic and eugh.
