And Chloe tote

AmberNectarine · 14/06/2015 14:03

Celine box or trio Marsha

Need to run 10 miles this evening. Am writing it here so I definitely go out and do it!

HappyGirlNow · 14/06/2015 14:03

I love the trio marsha

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 14/06/2015 14:24

Marsha I can see you with any of the first 3 - do you think you're in the market for an ultimate bag purchase? The Chloe is more of an overspill work bag to me, not a main bag.
I love the Lanvins too, perfect colour for you, only slight issue was the orange bag. Have you tried them together yet?

novice your post about the bright dresses really resonated with me, so thank you. Flowers you're like my workwear idol Blush Grin

Feeling slightly delicate today after steak, cocktails and cake for a surprise birthday party last night, so I'm going to spend the afternoon browsing sales.

I agree with Amber and Happy my vote goes to one of the celines.

I think my next bag will be the micro luggage. I haven't decided what colour yet though.

BrandyAlexander · 14/06/2015 14:43

Blair Thanks. I think you're a really good example re what I mean on bright dresses. Your new dvf Bevin red dress looks absolutely stunning on you. Others might see it as a going out dress but I see it as a great work dress because the wearer must be confident to wear it, so in my experience people will actually take them more seriously.

bettykt · 14/06/2015 15:57

Marsha for me it has to be the Celine Box bag, might as well buy your ultimate bag

LinusDKD · 14/06/2015 16:28

Céline box for me too marsha!

I love my trio but I actually only take it with me on holiday as it's good for sightseeing, can convert it into a clutch at night and doesn't take up too much room in my luggage.

But for everyday use I find it a bit too small.

Drywhiteplease · 14/06/2015 16:33

Survived Grin and head not bad at all Confused

Betty wasn't me who bought the Boden TS .......

Drywhiteplease · 14/06/2015 16:39

Celine Box here too, closely followed by the trio....the Chloe tote is a completely different type of bag.
Have you considered buying a bench instead ?

libertychick · 14/06/2015 16:45

I think Box bag too Marsha. Go on, you know you want to Wink

Novice your last comment hits the nail on the head. I don't have the confidence to wear the dress to work. I would wear bright, I would wear fitted but the two combined is just outside of my comfort zone.

I have spent a lot of time mulling it over today. There are so many things going on beneath how we choose our clothes and they really do say a lot about us. I was thinking about compliments and I like it when people say I look well or I look smart etc but I get very uncomfortable if people (especially men) comment in anything more than a very general way. For example, one man I work with did a double take one day when I wore a yellow pencil skirt with a cream top and cream jacket and told me I looked very glamorous. I haven't worn the outfit again since then!!! Another male colleague commented last year that I looked very 'chic and parisian' in a red flared skirt, white top, ballet flats and biker jacket and again I haven't repeated that combination since then. They are both really nice men and were not hitting on me but I get uncomfortable with that kind of attention especially at work.

bettykt · 14/06/2015 17:06

Lib do you think you would have felt the same if a woman had complimented you? Do you want/need to present yourself like Novice ie all eyes on you so you need to stand out or "invisible" as in they need to listen to you and not be detracted by your clothes, or both? Clothes psychology is very interesting.

Last week I needed to look a bit more put together at work than usual, so wore a black dress and my black Lkb Florissa's I felt a lot more professional. Normally I wear Black Bistro trousers & a Tippi sweater or various Me & Em tops, I work p/t in a fairly casual environment.

Well done Dry on hitting the gym. I need to do some exercise.

libertychick · 14/06/2015 17:21

I'd have reacted completely differently to a women complimenting me Betty. Would have just enjoyed it. I am a woman's woman though. I work with a lot of men and get on very well with them but I much prefer female work environments. I get uncomfortable with the thought that men I work with are looking at me - totally ridiculous and no doubt a therapist would have a field day with it. I don't have a problem commanding attention at work, I tend to get taken seriously as I have good presentation skills and can think very quickly on my feet. My work environment is smart/casual mainly, there are some meetings / events where like Novice I need to be seen as being in charge. I usually deal with that by wearing collar and jacket and heels, hair up or very well blow dried and adding brighter lippy and eye make up - usually I just stick to base, blush and mascara.

libertychick · 14/06/2015 17:22

Bloody hell, I am totally over thinking one dress!!! There are so many others out there too Grin

shopafrolic · 14/06/2015 18:06

Waves to all - back from Norfolk - a big family stress horrible drama so the last part of the weekend was no fun at all :(
It was lovely and hot on Friday night but then chucked it down with rain the rest of the time.
Only scanned the thread but Marsha fab choice on the Lanvins but YYYYYY PLEASE protect them. PLEASE especially with your track record
Still ill too so back to the docs this week. Kisses to all.

libertychick · 14/06/2015 18:36

Poor you Shop. hate family family dramas . Hope you are ok. Are you busy this week or will you be able to rest a bit?

shopafrolic · 14/06/2015 19:01

Busy again - does it ever stop with a 4yr old?
Meant to say Celine box for you Marsha - maybe we should get an MNV box and hire it out to split the cost Grin

libertychick · 14/06/2015 19:15

me, me, me, I'm in on the box!!!!

Fedupnagging · 14/06/2015 19:21

Marsha I'm so pleased you got the orange lanvins - really lovely. I think the celine box is my favourite swiftly followed by the pashli and trio.

Shop hope you're ok?

Re the bag thread, it's such a shame they always end up the way they do. Novice good reply - I was hoping you'd mention your charity. No way can I afford a bag at £1k but don't begrudge who can. Plus, I love looking at the 'pretty pictures'

We have had a fab weekend but after 2 days of solid eating, drinking, gossiping and laughing, am exhausted so we're settling down to watch a movie followed by an early night.

shopafrolic · 14/06/2015 19:26

BLAIR Magic Mike. 10pm. channel 4 (and HD) #justsayin

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 14/06/2015 19:33

Sorry to hear it shop, hope you are ok.

Lib I totally understand and you're right, there are lots more dresses out there. Maybe it's just the men you work with, I never get comments from male colleagues but amusingly last night lots of DH's friends told me they thought my Aquazzuras were amazing! Confused Anyway, I am trying to do "dress for the job you want, not the job you have". I don't know if I'll stay where I am, but it can't hurt to dress more smartly. I am the only woman in my office (of a majority) who wears heels every day.

For House of Cards fans, we just watched the first ep of season 2. OMG Shock

Have also had a depressing weekend with a family drama Sad but have delurked as I love a bag dilemma Smile I think the box bag too Marsha but having said that the chloe tote is on my next bag to buy list. I saw it in a mustardy yellow colour and it looked amazing. They are very different you could get both

QueenCardigan · 14/06/2015 20:06

Phew, 2 out of 3 kids in bed, pjs on and I'm looking forward to a browse.
marsha not the pashli but yes to either celines.
shop sorry about your weekend
lib at least you know the dress fits well so it'll probably be in another colour soon. I wouldn't find men saying I look glam but then im a bit of a flirt Wink.

QueenCardigan · 14/06/2015 20:08
