Maxmara dress has arrived. I like it a lot but definitely not for work, too bright and too curve hugging. If I had a life that involved regular cocktail bar attendance I would get it. DH loves it and has suggested I keep it for his exclusive benefit

If only the Céline bag went on sale I would check out other colours

soo, it is apparently noticeable to other people that i've lost weight. people have been commenting without any prompting from me at all. my trousers are hanging off my waist and i think i need to size down in my jeans because i can pull them off without undoing the button and zip! i haven't been trying either, ive really not paid any attention and haven't weighed myself in ages

dress sounds fab Lib if Dh insists you keep it, he'll have to make the effort to take you somewhere to wear it!

it's been raining almost all day here so haven't been out at all, it can be risky when it's wet with the crutches as the wet makes them slide around.

Thanks Happy and Amber, I think I just saw red when I saw that sanctimonious post. Your responses were sooo much calmer! . There is another point though which is that if I chose to spend £1k on a new bag each month, it would make no difference to our finances. Marsha said something drunkedly profound to me at an MU once, which was that given my financial circumstances she admires my restraint. I repeat it to dh when he's moaning about my spending. What I like about this thread is that nobody gives anyone any grief, we just admire the pretty things whether it's £10, £100 or £1,000. Happy days!

It's a lovely dress and you look lovely in it. It can be a work dress, try it with a jacket and heels and see how it feels?

I choose the colour abs style of my work dresses very carefully. You could easily say that some of my work dresses are cocktail dresses but I wear them strategically and it's been both liberating and career enhancing.

If I have a one on one meeting with a man where I want them to forget I am a woman, see me as an equal and just focus on what I am saying, I go dark - black or navy. I did that last week when I meet the regional head of one of the worlds biggest financial institution. The following day, I chaired a meeting for 15 people, all senior like me and only 3 women in the room. I needed to be seen as the leader, because I ham in a leadership position in the context in which we met. I wore a MaxMara pink dress because I needed the natural attention and focus to be on me so I could control the meeting. Your lovely dress, could work out for you in a strategic way like that. Don't automatically think you don't want the attention on you.

Those threads always go the same way. Gets too much of the same thing. Stick here, much better. Agree it's much nicer and no one blinks at £10 or loads.

Just popping in to say hello. Having a fab weekend and had an impromptu night out last night and had to borrow my friends shoes, bag and jacket! Lovely shops here too and have bought a triple chain necklace.

Will be back this evening with fantasy shopping.

I adore them Marsha. I think they'd look good with a neutral bag, maybe a grey or cream? But could also just rock the brights and wear with a yellow or cobalt bag?

I wonder if there's a group of people who just wait for those bag threads to have a pop. No idea why anyone cares how other people spend their cash.

I stay off the bag threads now even though I like to look at what people are considering, they always turn nasty and sanctimonious when really, it's no one elses business what someone chooses to spend on something. I always feel sorry for the OPs, all they want is a bit of advice and then they get bombarded with stuff that's deliberately trying to bring them down and make them feel bad. No one would bat an eyelid if it was a £50 bag, would they.

Hello, popping in after a busy week. Haven't read back much, just this page.

Marsha I love the shoes and their colour. I wear orange a lot in the summer. I like to clash it with yellow too. I like clashing brights.

Not much buying from me apart from some more chino shorts from Boden in navy, they are the perfect shorts for me. Also ordered a 'school run dress' from there too, the Annabelle I think, went for blue/white nautical stripes. Won't link as it's quite dull but is on my pin.

Question: Has anyone worn their flares much? I think I need to shorten mine. They are still touching the floor in my highest heels so haven't worn then yet.

Haven't seen the bag thread, but they are always the same, someone wants advice about buying an expensive bag and all these people come out of the woodwork outraged by the amount and get all holier than though telling a complete stranger how they should/should not spend their money. yes that's why I like it here. It's not a crime to admire, like and buy nice things.

Best BBQ ever. Hut was packed full. Almost max capacity of 16. Bubbles flowed, too much food. Guests left at 1.30. Bit worried about neighbours. AND BLOCK HEELS are the perfect BBQ shoe ladies

you're right amber but they refuse to see it the same way. Ugh, it just annoys me now so I stay away. We all know there's terrible things going on in the world, you'd have to be deliberately blind and deaf NOT to know but instead of complaining about someones elses disposable income go out there and do something to change the bad stuff. Everyone can do something if they feel strongly enough about it. Picking on other people because they want to buy something nice is petty at best and plain nasty at worst.

The bag threads aren't worth it now as they just go over same ground, but I'm a big fan of the creative industries in London / UK and in general so I'm glad as an industry it can exist and do well. And oh yes much nicer on here.

I just can't be bothered to reply to any bag threads anymore. I do have a look at the links to find inspiration for my next bag but the thread always gets derailed in the same predictable way.

But it has reminded me to wear my yellow nano tomorrow. Such a cheerful colour!
