Shop you have freckles, I have pink arm.....great pair Grin

shopafrolic · 04/06/2015 20:00

I like the Elkos for you can't see link to third pair but am pissed.
An old school friend has published her first book, so talented. Another friend has a signed a movie deal for his book. Am feeling a little uninspiring! How many people actually turn their passion into their day job?
I have an idea but no clue how to make it real.

bettykt · 04/06/2015 20:02

Have you bought any yet Dry thanks for the info, I went for that length as I'm practically the same height as you minus the extra 1/2 inch Grin went for the vintage wash, found a 20% off code and was happy with that, also ordered some boatneck tees in green and yellow

Shop not sure if you're a Boden girl, but the have 25% off today off their holiday shop, may find some coloured tees there.

Cranagh I love that All Saints top, iirc you're a lot taller than me, I think I'd be too short for it.

shopafrolic · 04/06/2015 20:05

Cranagh how tall are you?

shopafrolic · 04/06/2015 20:10

Betty other than cashmere sweaters and swimwear Boden doesn't seem to work for me. not for lack of trying

Cranagh · 04/06/2015 20:14

I'm 176 cm. You can ruche the top up a bit! Like those Boden tops, I have one.

My favourites are the Sophias, Dry.

Drywhiteplease · 04/06/2015 20:15

Betty have ordered all of themBlush.... Will try on at home

AmberNectarine · 04/06/2015 20:24

Took delivery of some Teva sandals today.

I'll get my coat

They're comfy though.

shopafrolic · 04/06/2015 20:29

We're the same height Cranagh - I'm 31" leg flat and 33" heeled

shopafrolic · 04/06/2015 20:32

Have figured out the links but reckon the Elkos have your name on them Dry

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 04/06/2015 20:39

If anyone was going to it would be you Amber Grin (in a good way!) I admit I have been looking at fitflop sandals.

shop will read and reply! Glad you are getting sucked into GG. It is a funny feeling when other people achieve big isn't it? What would you say your passion was?

Dry I really feel like all of those shoes are very different! Looking forward to pics.

Finally got my hands on my H&M delivery as I drove to my sister's after work. Love the ballet flats - great quality and even came with a dust bag. As expected the trousers were way too small (can't remember who it was that had them) - I measured and the waist - on a 10 - was 26". Hate the opposite of vanity sizing :(

betty those tees look great for summer.

Blair fashion and writing. When I was little I used to write and hand bind magazines, then I fell in love with clothes. I keep thinking about blogging but my interest lies in the psychology of fashion. Particularly interested in how clothes can bring you back to your true self post child birth. Not sure where you go to gain a qualification in that though?!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 04/06/2015 21:02

I'd read a book on that shop, or even a blog! Funnily enough I'd say those were my passions too - though my interest in fashion is completely shallow, I'm rubbish at knowing the history of it etc. I have thought fleetingly of starting a blog, but not for the writing, just to turn the time I spend browsing online into something :) Maybe you should see if there are any books on your subject, then make a list of ideas for blog posts and just get started? You could always do OOTD posts and shopping posts mixed in, it would be fab.

shopafrolic · 04/06/2015 21:15

ThanksBlair I suppose there's no harm in trying. Just would like a qualification to back it up. Am already doing wardrobe edits for friends, and sourcing clothes for them - just not sure how to make a hobby a job IYSWIM?

AmberNectarine · 04/06/2015 21:21

Unless you have a shitload of time on your hands, and don't want to make any money from it for a few years, don't start a blog.

QueenCardigan · 04/06/2015 21:44

Like some of you ive thought about starting a blog. It would be clothes but also local lifestyle stuff. I even set up a Wordpress account. But I realised that I probably wouldn't stay committed to it and I don't like the thought of putting myself out there to promote myself. Also I'm not sure that I want random strangers either fawning over me or judging me.

linus forgot to say welcome back. Mwah. One of the uniqlo dresses was the one you linked. Would be better on a straight person rather than one with curves.
dry can see you in any of those shoes.
shop can you not just do a personal stylist course. What about Alicia Kay?
amber every time you get something from a charity shop I wish that I still lived just a few miles down the road from you in London so that I could visit the same shops.

I've done another online order including jumpsuit, dress and skirt! Will probably all be rubbish.

shopafrolic · 04/06/2015 21:46

Not sure blogging is for me Amber. Fashion and psychology appeals to me as a study thing but I am struggling to find a suitable course..... Have investigated stylist courses but they aren't really what I'm after.

shopafrolic · 04/06/2015 21:54

Thanks queen I've sent an email x

Karbea · 04/06/2015 22:06

I've tried blogging a couple of times, but I can't write consistently plus I think you really have to add something interesting, so many style blogs just aren't stylish or interesting. Nor were mine :/

Drywhiteplease · 04/06/2015 22:07

The problem with ordering shoes "just to try", thinking you'll choose only one pair, is what if you like them ALL? Confused at that price I could keep 2 maybe .................

Shop I really loved the book you recommended on the psychology of fashion. Fascinating stuff.
Blair ever since reading the Ladybird book of Cinderella as a little girl I have loved the history of fashion. I could spend hours drooling in the V and A costume section. Love how garments are made. Wish I'd become a curator of a costume collection or theatre/ film design specialising in period costume. ......

Karbea · 04/06/2015 22:16

I guess it depends why you want to write. You could always just pick an item of clothing/style of dressing and write about it, and just see how it goes. If you prioritise regular writing, I think you have to force a habit initially and it could turn into a blog or a book. I would just do it for your own enjoyment and see where it takes you, iykwim.

libertychick · 04/06/2015 23:12

Shop I think you just have to do the things that you love and not over think how you might make money from it. I had a really interesting chat with a public health specialist the other day who has an interest in what makes people happy and he was saying how important it is to have something that you are good at and derive satisfaction from and to actually do it. The holy grail is if you can turn your passion into an income but in reality most of us can't. But you can be happy and satisfied in life with a job that doesn't really float your boat but pays the bills and leaves you with enough time and energy to indulge in a hobby or interest that inspires you.

LinusDKD · 05/06/2015 07:32

Morning!

It was already 21 degrees this morning at 7.30 so today is going to be hot!

Wearing my white Madewell top from last year, I think dry has it in black and some navy Boden chinos (which will be replaced with shorts once I've defuzzed my legs Blush )

According to UPS tracking the sandals I ordered yesterday should already be delivered today! Shock I just hope I'm in to take delivery.

OneLittleLady · 05/06/2015 08:03

morning all,

so, it's the day, it's performance day. keep everything crossed at around 2.25pm for me! that's roughly the time i'll be on stage!just hope i can pull this on, need to buy emergency batteries on my way in in case the ones ive got fail.

outfit didn't quite look right so i've gone with black skinnies, black vest top, white cotton cardigan and my sparkly top shop flats for the drama in my outfit. feels okay and it will have to be okay as no more time to get changed!

BerniceBobsHerHair · 05/06/2015 10:42

One your outfit sounds good. Good luck Flowers

Dry my faves are the Sophia ones.

I don't really wear heels but I am in love with these

Blair I am quite tempted by those HM ballet flats. How is the sizing on them? You mentioned my fugly shoes pin board - the more I look, the more I seem to like them Grin

QueenC sounds like a good plan to contact them and send CV - scary though.

Shop maybe time will help to crystallise a way forward. I think Lib's advice is very sound though (as usual).

Welcome back Linus - lovely sandals, hope you are in when they arrive.

Marsha I am behind the times but did you choose some Lanvin? I did love the orange for you but agree that matchy matchy bag issue makes it difficult.

I love the ones you bought Karbea When do you start your job?

Warm here but am not feeling v inspired - wearing white and blue 'peasant' top (I feel a bit like a peasant in it!), patchwork jeans and white arizona birkenstock.
