New thread!

Ethel they are really good (for me). I was scared to use them the first day and my skin stung the tiniest bit so I was expecting it to go into some sort of meltdown, but then it just stopped stinging about 5 seconds later and ever since then I've had no issues at all with them. My skin appears to be getting less red and more smooth by the day, not sure if that is due to the Effaclar or the Nip/Fab, probably a combo of both. Just a wee swipe round and they don't sting at all. You're right to introduce things gradually, people told me to do that and they were def right!!

Oh no Gerti, I'd be tempted to slather some industrial strength moisturiser. I used Aquaphor when I peeled and it worked well.

Itsalldramarama · 21/05/2015 20:57

So my Retin a hAs arrived ! Just applied , no stinging . Planning maybe 3 times a week ? I have been using redermic r daily with no adverse effects , could I still use this on the other nights or would it be too much ? Thanks

I skipped my superdrug vit E hot cleanse tonight in favour of my new micellar water which whilst ok for am cleanse was not ok for my first cleanse tonight. I have just had to recleanse and acid tone because my skin felt so yuk. I was wearing make up as usual and my skin had been looking great today and now I've already got small spots on my cheek Sad

gerti sorry you are having that reaction. Yes, lay off it for a bit. It's interesting because I am feeling that with over a month of use my skin has adjusted to the bravura ginseng toner and the. Nip and fab. They don't tingle at all. I need a stronger glycolic now. I shall look up yours! Maybe we could swap!

Well last night was flicking through CH vids on You Tube and found one from when she was in Dublin, where she said she used a light moisturiser or serum over her LG application, as it was a LG night last night tried this and the result this morning was much better - double cleansed, then LG onto dry skin then a very light covering of Oskia night cream sample from Fortnums, this morning, super soft skin which I am delighted with - may have renewed faith in LG, not enough to re-purchase but very nice.

Also I have cracked and have a consultation appointment to get some of my larger freckles aka brown spots lazered off. Its at Destination Skin - so any reports on what they are like would be good - will report back

Back - I use a sheet mask, after a double cleanse, then glycolic tone, hydration tone, then mask, 20 mins, then massage in excess then bouncy sleep mask if done at night, if not at night, then moisturiser and SPF. DO this night routine once a week, but do the BS bouncy sleep mask every other night IYSWIM!

Have a great day! xoxo

Read on hot and flashy that aqueous cream is ideal to use after applying Retin a ( not from her herself but on a comment recommended by a doctor to another poster ) as I have gallons of this for DS I did so last night and my skin feels amazing today ! No hint of redness just smooth glowing and soft !

CindyEcstacy · 23/05/2015 11:19

I use aqueous cream after retin a and it deffo helps with the peeling

MitzyLeFrouf · 23/05/2015 11:37

Be careful of aqueous cream, it thins the skin.

Itsalldramarama · 23/05/2015 11:46

Really ? Didn't know that . Doctor recommends it used liberally for 7 year olds dry skin ! What would you recommend for after retin a ? Damn thought it was a great find !

Itsalldramarama · 23/05/2015 11:53

Yes a quick Google does bring up some new research to that effect ! Just need a very simple moisturiser so any recommendations please

Itsalldramarama · 23/05/2015 11:55

Apparently it's the sodium laurel sulphate that's the culprit !

MitzyLeFrouf · 23/05/2015 12:02

Oilatum Natural Repair Face Cream is a great rich, skin soothing moisturiser.

MsBojangles · 23/05/2015 12:05

Bit of a boring question but can any of you recommend a Hirons approved moisturiser, preferably for dehydrated skin. No SPF necessary as I use a separate one on top.

Was thinking of Embryolisse but Ms H isn't a fan due to the mineral oil content.

Less than 50 quid please, these threads are costing me an effing fortune!

Itsalldramarama · 23/05/2015 12:39

Thank you mitsy :)

DrankSangriaInThePark · 23/05/2015 12:44

MsBojangles, CH seems to be of the opinion that we shouldn't worry (or spend) nearly as much on moisturiser as we think we should, that cleanser and serum are more important.
I am a Neal's Yard Frankincense-holic, but recently am just using a L'Oreal cheap as chips moisturiser in the day and my NY oil at night and I think I'm agreeing with her.

MsBojangles · 23/05/2015 13:03

Thanks DrankSangria, I remember her comparing moisturiser to an overcoat a summat. I've been splashing out on Elemis Pro Collagen for a bloody eternity which is nice but not great, especially for the price so swapping it for something a little more bargainous would be marvellous.

I've been doing cleansing balms, serums/oils, glycolic and retin a for years so it's good to know I'm on the right track!

DrankSangriaInThePark · 23/05/2015 13:08

I also used PCMC and then suddenly realised it did absolutely diddly squat for my skin (apart from the pilling) blimmin love the scent of it though, but just too 'light lotion' for me.
I have recently converted my friend to NYF and she is now evangelical- and she can afford Guerlain Orchidee Imperiale!Shock

LtheWife · 23/05/2015 13:24

I wonder if LRP cicaplast would be good after retin a? It's sold as an after peel treatment and good for healing chapped, damaged skin. I've been using it to help deal with the side effects of roaccutane (which is an oral retinoid rather than topical) and I'm pretty sure I saw it in CH's routine after she had a reaction to a product.

MsBojangles · 23/05/2015 13:41

Wow, I need to give NYF a whirl, thank you!

Itsalldramarama · 23/05/2015 13:55

lthe wife .. That's sounds a good idea! Found a huge tub of plain old Nivia in the blue pot ... Maybe ??
