New thread!

mulberry retin A should be used on bare\nearly bare skin! if you feel you need to put other products on you should wait at least an hour before you do so.
The nights I use retin I cleanse, acid tone then wait a good half hour for my face to dry and for the acids to do their thing. Then I put the retin on. Then just before I go to bed I finish off the routine.

I also just wanted to add that now I am using my ph dependent acids properly I am seeing a marked difference in the condition of my skin.
It does matter how they are used in a routine for them to be properly effective. Bha's, Aha's and LAA all have different ph levels and if you don't let them do their thing they cannot work properly.
For example when you wash your face the ph level goes above normal skin level. If you then put c serum or and acid straight on the acids won't be effective because they are having to lower your skin ph before they can work effectively. It's best then to cleanse, wait 20 mins and then use your serum/acid and then wait a while longer , say 20 mins for the acid to work effectively.
If you put on an acid and then immediately put another a serum, moisturise etc etc you will be making the skin ph too high for the acid to work
I know it's perhaps a bit of a faff and somewhat overwhelming but it does make a difference!

Just found this thread, oh god I fear for my bank balance, some great recommendations!

I have very oily, dehydrated skin prone to cystic acne (lovely).

Cleansers that I get on with:
LRP Physiological and Rosaliac
Clinique TTDO (really want to try the oil)
Lush ultrabland
Kiehls Ultra facial oil free

Acid tone:
Pixi glow
FAB Radiance pads (currently trying blemish patrol)

Serozinc spray (adore)

Serums
ANR
Vichy Normaderm night detox
Hydraluron (not sure about this)

Moisturiser/oil
Aurelia cell repair night oil (love)
Clarins blue lotus oil
Una brennan rose night cream and neroli day cream
Lush enzymion

I'm not completely happy with it - I'd love a nicer cleanser (but terrified to use anything that's not totally bland), a moisturiser that I love and maybe a new serum. But my skin is unrecognisable compared to even six months ago.

mulberrybag · 22/06/2015 13:10

Thanks all. I do put it on about an hour after acid tone and hylamide,
I've been lurking and following all the amazing advice - such a great thread! Hopefully one day soon I'll be able to go make up free for the first time in forever, fingers crossed

ilovetosleep · 22/06/2015 13:47

Just popping by to thank kundry for effectively fixing my skin by recommending Cerave PM. 5 days in and you wouldn't know my skin had a massive meltdown about a fortnight ago and was struggling to recover. Am so excited I can go back trying out all my new products (one at a time I promise!)

diggerdigsdogs · 22/06/2015 14:09

bigbuttons thanks for posting that. Flowers

Kundry · 22/06/2015 20:18

Blush thank-you so much, I get v nervous when anyone takes me advice although doesn't seem to stop me giving it Confused

It's a great product though, wish they would launch in the UK.

diggerdigsdogs · 24/06/2015 08:47

I'm breaking out across my forehead Hmm

My face was happier using Eve lom Shock

ilovetosleep · 24/06/2015 09:01

digger I went back to me eve lom cleanser after una Brennan broke me out and I used up a (very lovely but I'm broke) sample of balance me cleansing balm. My skin just loves the eve lom!

diggerdigsdogs · 26/06/2015 01:17

ilovetosleep my dm on the other hand has found EL no longer works for her. She's convinced they've changed the formula and she doesn't like the new one.

Haul update from me:

Sunday Riley Juno doesn't suit me at all. I'm going to give it to my mum. Might go back to the clarinet blue lotus (or whatever their combi skin oil is).

Sunday Riley ceramic slip is massively drying on me. Not sure whether to risk giving it to teen sdc or to leave it for a mask.

Like the Emma hardie balm but don't love the smell. Not sure why CH loves the smell so much!

FAB pads are great. Think I want something with a higher sizzle factor for once a week. Have just bought some liquid gold - any recs for something else?

Tried Dr Dennis gross hydra pure vit c last night. Really like it and nicely tingly.

Tried the murad vit c spf 30 this morning. Will see what it's like putting make up over and report back. Feels quite siliconey. I'm not toooo shiney (some spf make me so shiney I bin them almost immediately) but more than naked skin.

CoconutAmericano · 26/06/2015 15:11

I havent been on this thread for a while but just thought I'd let the Irish ladies know that Lloyds pharmacy are selling bioderma micellar water! Apparently they're the first pharmacy in Ireland to sell it. I am sad to say but it made my day! Grin

NathalieM · 26/06/2015 17:16

Bioderma H20 is amazing. I bought it online and after using for a while now I can confidently say I absolutely love it! Also would recommend Murad Renewing & Cleansing for anyone who has used Bioderma and loved it; cheaper price tag but just as good.

As someone who's used to sensitive skin, I have a few recommendations. Many people say avoid products which are aimed at all skin types, but I've personally never had any problems. I always bought from Temple Spa for myself (as well as a few bits for the hubby) our favorite skincare and moisturizing stuff is the anti-aging range;
www.templespa.com/skin-care/anti-ageing-creams

If you're looking for an all round cream suitable for most sensitive skin types, I would recommend the skin truffle range :)

Hello, I'd love to join please? I didn't understand the thread title so thanks to Fatstacks for pointing me in the right direction Smile. I spent last night reading the whole thread and my head just went boom! Can I ask you to critique my routine? It's important I say from the get-go that I had my first course of IPL for sun/age spots 3 weeks ago, due my second one next Friday. But I want to try and improve my sagging, wrinkly skin. I'm 46 with 4DC's and spent the last decade without much sleep. I only discovered CH 2 weeks ago after reading one of Big Buttons threads so I'm still learning.

AM
Clinique Take the Day Off Balm cleanser
Nip & Fab Glycolic Fix Pads
Clinique Moisture Surge Spray
Clinique Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector
Body Shop Vitamin E Serum
Hydraluron
Nivea blue pot moisturiser
SPF 50

PM
1st Cleanse: Una Brennan Vitamin C Cleansing oil
2nd Cleanse: Clinique Take the Day Off Balm cleanser
Nip & Fab Glycolic Fix Pads
Clinique Moisture Surge Spray
Clinique Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector
Body Shop Vitamin E Oil
Hydraluron
Body Shop Bouncy Sleep Mask

For the PM acid tone I've ordered Pixi Glow and Peter Thomas Roth Unwrinkle Peel Pads as per CH's advice to have a few acid toners on the go.

Big Buttons I'd like to add in Retin A but obviously need to check with the IPL consultant first, but wanted to ask is LRP Redermic a good one to start with rather than going straight for Tretinoin?

Also thinking of trying Hylamide as my Hydraluron is an old tube found at the back of my drawer and not sure how long they're good for, or even if it's working.

Any advice greatly appreciated!!!

ksb76 · 27/06/2015 13:56

New here - but just read the 20 pages from start to finish!

Can recommend the Nude Omega Cleansing Jelly as a really nice balm cleanser for those looking to try something new. Easily goes from jelly to oil on the face and emulsifies nicely with a flannel.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 27/06/2015 14:06

Hello theBeagle!
Hylamide is getting rave reviews by CH and on here, whilst Hydraluron is a bit marmite. I am treating myself to Hylamide on pay day!

DrankSangriaInThePark · 27/06/2015 14:09

Digger, you can buy higher % GA and other acid peels from ebay. Just make sure you check the feedback. I have had good results with 30% whilst Liquid Gold never did anything.

sonata1 · 27/06/2015 14:46

Where can I get Hylamide vitamin c and is it a serum or moisturiser? Not sure about the Aldi Soy serum I have started using. I have come out in a few little blebs and wonder if it's too perfumed.

Loving the Paula's Choice 1% Retinol, my skin is tolerating it well every other night, apart from a bit of flaking which the flannel and Pixi Glow take care of in the morning. The majority of blackheads/sebaceous filament thingies on my nose have gone and my forehead is wonderfully smooth and shiny.

Still reckon I'll switch to Retin-A when it's finished, from everything it's by far the most effective anti-ager.

TheBeagleHasLanded · 27/06/2015 18:09

I've just been paid Sangria and ooooh I feel a little visit to Boots coming on very soon Smile. Let us know how you get on with it after payday.

GERTI my skin is only a little dry, mainly around the creases of the nose really. I can't ever use concealer on my little red veins there as it ends up all yukky but I'm hoping the IPL will sort them out too. I'm just looking tired and dull these days. A lot of that is due to the dark circles and to be honest I'm only continuing to use the Clinique Even Better Eyes because I've got nothing else. I've not noticed any improvement in the circles or crepyness at all so maybe next payday I will try the Hylamide serum too. I don't really want to return it as I took the whole of my Clinique 3-steps back on Friday to swap for the Balm and Moisture surge spray. That's not the first time I've returned stuff either, I think an alarm will go off at Clinique HQ if my name pops up again Shock

Although, I'm sure CH recommended if you couldn't afford eye creams you could take the serum all the way up underneath the eyes, maybe that would make a difference?

TheBeagleHasLanded · 27/06/2015 18:10

MsBojangles so is the 1% Retinol not as strong as Retin-A? Is Retinol a better choice to start with?

bigbuttons re: your post about pH dependent acids. I'm using Una Brennan Vitamin C oil cleanser and Clinique Take the Day Off Falm followed by Nip & Fab pads (Pixi Glow and Peter Thomas Roth Unwrinkle Pads on order too). I need to wait 20 minutes after washing my face before using these, and then another 20 minutes before applying my serum?

Sorry for all the questions, I just don't want to be waiting if I've misunderstood you. Well, not exactly waiting, I take my makeup off at around 7pm every night, I really enjoy the experience now. There's plenty of time for me to wait the 20 minutes if that's what you suggest. Please do let me know!
