Laser update - loving the results so far!!!! Four dark coloured freckles that has annoyed me for years have vanished, still have freckles but all are so much paler. Will give it till the end of June and decide on a second blitz!!

CoconutAmericano · 07/06/2015 19:51

Either aha or bha or tretinoin. Occasionslly none of them.
Waiting for my niacinamide serum to arrive from Korea, but in the interim I'm using an Aldi serum.

Facial oil before bed if skin feels like it needs it. This being Nuxe dry oil.

And that's it Smile

Still working on a moisturiser and also something with hyaluronic acid in it. Perhaps a third serum. Still researching..

My product reviews.

I use pretty cheap stuff and I admit that I am usually the first person to turn my nose up at cheap stuff thinking it doesn't work as well. However, I bought this stuff while on a tighter budget.

Lush Ultrabland cleanser- fell in love with it a while ago and it is still my favourite. I have ran out and need to get some more.

Super drug hot cloth- lovely, amazing for the price

Cetaphil cleanser- I don't love it. It's ok but I doubt I will buy it again.

Effaclor duo- not worth the price imo.

Liquid gold- won't be buying again

Balance hyaluronic youth serum- cheap as chips and pretty good. Not hydrating enough on its own but as a serum to use with others I like it.

Aldi serums and oils. All of them are fantastic. Really good stuff and will purchase again because they are cheap but really good quality and works as well as anything else I have ever tried.

Nip and Fab pads- I like them well enough but I don't think they are strong enough.

Clearsil fruit pads- love them, they make me tingle but do not irritate me.

Ultrasun SPF- A.mazing. Not so cheap but great.

Sunsense- Makes me very oily. Great protection but oily.

Loreal repair serum- meh, aldi's is better for half the price

Nivea blue pot- Beautiful, haven't thought to use it as a cleanser until now though! not so good for facial moisturiser during the day but makes a lovely primer for under the eyes.

Retin A 0.25 with antibiotic gel mixed in- Amazing.

Retina A cream 0.5. Only been using it for 5 days. No side effects but I have got a spot which I am not sure is the start of purging. I didn't get one spot with the lower strength.

Had acne, cystic acne until I started this regime. Currently had two spots in two months which is a miracle.

Rainy26 · 07/06/2015 23:16

hi all
i have been using La Roche-Posay Redermic. Where do I get the retina a cream from and should i start with 0.5?

dont have any wrinkles, want smoother skin and get rid of my dark spots!

ilovetosleep · 08/06/2015 09:02

Hi everyone, just looking for a bit more advice as I'm feeling a bit glum this morning and Envy of all your glowy skin. I started this and the Korean thread over a month ago and my skin is if anything worse than before and my pocket much lighter. Turns out I have dry and reactive skin and I just can't seem to get the products right. At the moment I have stingy cheeks and sore pimply patches along the line of my cheeks (don't know what that line is called it's the crease of my cheek when I smile?). I thought it was the redermic but not used that in over a week. Thought it was silicones from some new things but have been using boots serum for years with silicones in. Thought it was Shea butter but again realised my old night cream is Shea based and no probs there. I think it might be signs of over exfoliation, as I have been acid tonig for te first time in my life, but I'm only using nip&fab glycolic once a day and dragons blood (weak bha) once a day, and from what I read on here these are very mild. Anyway I'm going to stop te acid too and see what happens when/if my skin recovers.

So I'm here to hunt out any other dry/sensitive types and ask for your recommendations please! I am not usually spot prone but get one cystic spot per month with my period (not had one for 2 yrs because am bf) and I get pimples if a product disagrees with me but not narrowed down an ingredient yet. My chin is covered in red scars from the monthly spot and I have pigmentation spots at the corners of my eyes which I really want to tackle and otherwise just dehydrated skin with beginnings on wrinkles. Anyone similar here?

Also, which is more important for my skin type (am 34 us old if that helps) - acids or retinol? Be cause at the moment I don't think my skin can handle both.

Thanks in advance and sorry for sounding glum!

Morning Morning, so far the things I am loving are:

Double Cleansing
Using Bobbi Brown and Cetaphil, may stick with the BB but the bottle is taking forever to go down and my attention span is waning on this so may change when finished to Emma Hardie

Acid Toning -
Malin and Goetz pads (glycolic) in the evening
Nip and Fab Dragons Blood (salicylic) in the pm
Dr Peter Gross - 2 step resurfacing toning - three times a week in the pm instead of M&G
Going to the PixiGlow night with CH on Thursday may purchase/may not

Hydration Tone -
Bobbi Brown and the moment - but have Caudalie Grape Water Spray winking at me at the moment - will not start till BB is finished

Serum -
Ren - Drops of youth - lovely to layer with under moisturiser
Need another one - possible may go back to Lancome Le Genifique - very undecided as it did not blow me away

Moisturisers
Kate Somerville Goat Milk Moisturiser - love this but can't get in the UK without shipping and additional costs
Nivea Soft - Never fails me
Superdrug - Daily Mosturiser Spf 15

Masks -
Boots Anti Wrinke Sheet Mask or Indeed Labs Hydration sheet masks
Dr Peter Gross - Vit C Clenser and Mask
BS - Bouncy Sleep Mask - will stay in my life for ver

Not Loving and will not be repurchasing -
Liquid Gold - - didn't see any results and I don't "get it"
Clinique - Even Better Dark Spot Corrector
LRP - Spf 50 suncream - OMG the ghostly look I have for about 30 mins is too time consuming
Dr Peter Gross - Acid Toning Pads with fake tanner - I am pale and interesting - the acid bit is great the tanning bit just leaves me with a grubby mark in my hairline [sceptical]

Biggest thing was the laser treatment - loving the results and the memory of the pain is fading - like the freckles Grin Grin

Interesting to see how everyone is getting on - thanks for the updates!

So it seems general consensus is Liquid Gold is a bit of a disappointment. Good good, that's one less on my wish list. And BS bouncy sleep mask is going on the list to try.

Has anyone tried Hylamide eye? Am sorely tempted but I do like my NUDE eye cream so should wait for that to run out. My under eye area is ageing me, the rest of my face is looking good but my eyes are pretty crinkly :)

Plum I'm very jealous you will be at the CH pixie event while I'm wrestling small imps into the bath! Let us know what it's like...

plumstone · 09/06/2015 15:06

Will do!!!! I am debating about leaving money at home that day - but probably won't, probably buy a bottle of stuff - only benefit is that my colleague who I am going with said with conviction that she felt their make up was "OK but nothing special" so it may just be the Pixiglow that I get, now if they have a tester/travel size that would be good as I can't justify much else right now!!!

Products I've been using and like:

Emma hardie and Elemis pro radiance cleansing balms - both are ace, the Emma hardie feels a bit more nourishing and treatmenty
Acid toners: pixiglow and nip+fab pads - think the pixiglow is a little stronger and I will probably stick to this one when the pads run out. I am really tight with pads though and always cut them in half so they will last forever!
Balance 334 hyaluronic serum - only £4ish and really softens my face and plumps it enough to be noticeable when I don't use it.

Suffering from being overzealous with retinol though atm so routine is on hold until my skin feels better Sad missing the Emma hardie balm in particular

Sallystyle · 10/06/2015 22:09

What could be the cause of little red tiny dots on my cheeks?

I had a few before using retin a but got a lot more now I have moved onto 0.5

Could it be sun damage? They are very tiny, like mini red spots. Feel quite flat.

Not sure if it is worth sticking with the retin a. I might just go back to the 0.25 which my skin loved straight away. I have no peeling or soreness, just these little spot things.

Back2two I have stopped using retinols and not used acids for couple of weeks - couldn't contemplate using them right now!

Skin seems better now though so am using a shu uemera oil cleanser, gentle rose toner and argan oil - seems to be fine but still have some dry/shiny bits that were red before..

My lower retin also had an antibiotic gel in it.

I didn't get one single spot using it though which was amazing. With the retin 0.5 I have a tiny dry patch on my cheek and some tiny spots so it makes me feel like it is doing something.

However, I had never felt so better when on the lower retin as my skin cleared right up so back to that I go. I obviously do better with it mixed in with an anti inflammatory.
