Unilateral decision... No space for consultation. Call me Dave...

MrsS sorry to hear about your neighbour. Thankfully DM is not like that at least at the moment!

Thanks Rose and Cremo. Wish DH was here to sort the finance as he loves all that, but I seem to have spurred DM into action on sorting through papers, of which she has many, many. I have tidied a cupboard which contains enough notelets, envelopes and notebooks to start a stationersGrin

Well done on your weightloss Rose! DM is the slimmest I've seen her in years which is good as at least she won't be made more immobile with extra poundage!

MrsSchadenfreude · 25/05/2015 23:52

Comfy dress code, I would be tempted to wear my fleece Mickey Mouse PJ bottoms, an old T shirt and slippers...

MontserratCaballe · 26/05/2015 07:07

Morning, crepesters! Sorry I've not been on much since my return from Mallorca. Work took (another) turn for the worse, then at the weekend we were blessed with a visit from MIL, which is always a challenge to both the liver and the temper. Happily she has gone now, leaving me and the DCs to our half term. We have a trip to the Dr's for DS's pre school booster (despite the fact he is finishing year 1, oops), a thrilling jaunt to Sainsbury's and then a piano lesson each. Rock and roll.

MI, very sorry to hear your sad news. Your poor friend. Thinking of you Flowers. Herbs, I was so sorry to read of your MIL, too. That is so very cruel for your DP, especially as it comes so soon after he lost his dad FlowersFlowers

Rose, hope the series of birthdays are enjoyable rather than draining. How are the dreaded exams going for the DCs? Huge well done on the weight loss too. You have inspired me to get off my fat bum and diet properly. How much have you lost in total now? Have you treated yourself to new clothes or are the old ones just feeling better?

CV, well done on the Ebaying. Like you I have a pile of stuff which I need to get rid of. I did a couple of Buy it nows on unwanted Christmas presents (from MIL - thankfully she didn't notice Grin) but need to do a pile of auction stuff too. I will try to do ten items this week. Dh is a dreadful hoarder but is having a "let's get rid of everything" phase so this should help a little.

Crem - glad you had a good break but sorry your back is still giving you gyp. Is there any more treatment they can offer you?

Herbs, are you still having a good time a Paris? The pics on FB look fab. I feel your pain with huge amounts to do for your course. Is there a local teenager who could take DS off for a little while? I am going to see if mine is available this week as I too have a few things which need my attention.

Rudy are your earrings out yet? If the back is stuck, can you push from the front and pop it out that way?

Your neighbour sounds most frustrating, MrsS. I wonder what the solution is, though, as you said SS were not very helpful. Does he have any family who might be able to intervene? A very tricky situation for you.

Right, I need to get in the shower then gird the kids to get up and at it. Why do I wake so early, even in the holidays? I should have got up when the alarm went off and had a run whilst DH was in the shower. Tomorrow, crepeys, tomorrow....

Have a great day.

Blackduck · 26/05/2015 07:28

Hi all. Cremo sorry to hear about the job and the back. Here whilst, in theory, I'm okay it's the complete destruction of morale and loyalty that is so wearing. I am now part of a union task force - not sure it will achieve anything, but have to try, not least to get to the truth of all this.

MC - hope your work related stuff isn't too bad.

I should eBay stuff (and stop buying stuff).

I am home until Wednesday afternoon and then back to work Thursday - full on museums today.

motherinferior · 26/05/2015 08:31

DP has suddenly and furiously booked us a holiday in Andalucia Grin.

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/05/2015 08:36

If anyone is up for food post Admiralty drinkies tonight, there is a very nice Italian close by, which does great pizzas. Molly - I have been there with a friend who is GF, and she managed to eat there, fairly limited choice of steak/fish with salad and chips, but she said it was good.

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/05/2015 08:40

Our other neighbour found Problem Neighbour spreadeagled on the stairs yesterday, with no trousers. He has emailed DH and has asked him "what are you going to do about it?" FFS!

lalsy · 26/05/2015 08:56

MI, what a most excellent way of expressing fury Grin. The sherry....

Crem, so glad Berlin was great but so sorry about the job. So stressful living with the uncertainty. And good luck BD on trying to get to the bottom of what is going on.

MontserratCaballe · 26/05/2015 09:14

Applying sherry yo anything is a good idea. When you off? Gloriously hot there now. I am very envious.

motherinferior · 26/05/2015 10:08

Mid-August. He was all about the 'nobody else ever sorts this' which is sort of true except that when I've tried to it all goes horribly wrong (we stayed in a house that was quite mind-bogglingly horrid in Spain a few years ago).

Would love to join you but will swig the last of the Prosecco in front of No Offence to cheer self up.

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/05/2015 10:44

MI - if you are flying into and out of Malaga airport, you can buy 10 litres of spirits at the duty free... just sayin'. And there is a most excellent sherry stand there, where you can buy every type of sherry known to man. And the gin is cheap.

I have no idea what we are doing about holiday, as it will be left to me as usual. We have potential cat sitters for August, and DD2's friend is supposed to be visiting from the US in July. I suspect it might be me and the girls going away on our own again...

bigTillyMint · 26/05/2015 10:57

MI Andalucia sounds lovely!

I was woken by DM pacing because the heating hadn't come on. I said prob thermostat thinks it's warn enough already, phone call to heating man confirmed this. Then spent ages on phone to sort out finances and other stuff whilst she has been dressmaking - how is it that she can still cut out and sew on a machine better than me but can't remember her dob?! Got to go to two banks this afternoon...

motherinferior · 26/05/2015 11:23

We fly into Almeria. I am sure I will make a full investigation of all available sherry while we are there. He furiously sorted the lot - flights, car, everything. Also a week away taking the kids for a week of Do Not Say Its Name.

I'm trying to find people to talk to me for a feature. WHY do they say 'can you send me the questions?' THEY know about this stuff. It is their area of expertise. I would like them to talk to me about stuff they know about, dammit.

Fume.

MollyAir · 26/05/2015 11:53

Eating gf Italian post-Admiralty sounds good, MrsS. Smile

We tried to book our hols over the weekend but dd (ever the tyrant) vetoed our recommendations - all of them. We now await her permission to do something else.

On that note, NU, she has also decided that northern unis are all Too Far, so we're no longer doing a tour of the North this summer; so no dropping in on you, I'm afraid. Sad I suspected she might do this to us.

bigTillyMint · 26/05/2015 12:31

MollySad about no Northern unis. I am really hoping that at least one of mine will go oop north as I still feel like a Northerner (despite living in London a lot longer!) And it's cheaper and if they then found a job there, they could actually maybe afford to live there.
Where is she actually considering?

lalsy · 26/05/2015 13:56

Mmm, dd has managed to go somewhere that is both far from home and expensive. I would love to have her a bit closer so we could have the odd lunch [holds hands out to Crem and Hatty].

hattymattie · 26/05/2015 16:16

Hello all - have had DB for a long weekend then have spent today doing not very
exciting things like ironing.

MI - so sorry about your friend and Crem - hoping that your job survives.

Mrs S neighbour sounds like a nightmare. Can't SS get I involved?

Molly I'm trying to get DD2 to apply up north as York for example is conveniently near my parents - Durham would be even better but she says its too small (and they probably wouldn't have her anyway). At the moment she's very keen on Exeter and Bristol which are in the opposite direction to everybody we know and love and also far from Cambs making logistics a bit complicated. Talking of Cambs, was shocked that DD1 had an exam on a bank holiday Monday. She has two more this week and that's it for this year bar the wild partying.

MollyAir · 26/05/2015 16:29

Bath and Exeter are strong contenders for dd.

She and her BFF had always said they wouldn't go to the same uni, but now they're having second thoughts...I don't mind as BFF is a good influence and BFF's dad adores dd and thinks she's a good influence, lol.

wilbur · 26/05/2015 17:01

Just qiuck check in to say I'm on my way to The Admiral (not a euphemism) may be a few mins after 6pm.

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/05/2015 17:21

I am installed on a wonky table by the stairs.

motherinferior · 26/05/2015 17:50

Envy x 2

Rosebag · 26/05/2015 18:15

Enjoy MU Crepeys.

MrsS your neighbour situation is getting unbearable. I think SS will have to do something of the poor old git will end up in a prison cell!

Thanks Monty the birthdays are both draining and enjoyable iyswim. DS has one more AS music paper after half term and then he's finished. DD has year 10 mocks the week beg. 22nd June. It's very stressful and they are full GCSE papers and it's just too much for her and me. have also had to say no to a weekend with friends in Sussex beforehand and an afternoon at Queens Club the weekend before her exams and am feeling very resentful
Diet wise I am just looking better in my existing gear...must be because most have elasticated waists or something Grin

Tilly sorry DM is anxious and confused. I'm sure she is reassured by having you there at the moment though.

Woo hoo for Dps that book holidays MI. Sounds lovely!

DS is visiting open days at Birmingham, Sheffield and Exeter. He has been to Cambridge but much prefers the idea of a combined honours which he can't do there. I think he'll also apply to Newcastle....

Chilling at the flat. Had a terrible drive down ...which is rare. Awful traffic for no obvious reason but have done a nice walk on the gorse to recover. I must now go and make the beds up. We are having dippy eggs and soldiers for supper to give us a break from all this cake...

hattymattie · 26/05/2015 18:41

Rose - I went to Newcastle and had a brilliant time.

bigTillyMint · 26/05/2015 19:24

Rose, I went to Sheffield and had a brilliant time. And I know friends DC are having a brilliant time there nowSmile what is he looking to do?
