Unilateral decision... No space for consultation. Call me Dave...

BD, I feel your pain. I am going to sit in front of the telly, possibly with a glass of booze, tonight.

I feel duty bound to tell you all that Aldi is selling limoncello, orange curacao, cassis and crème de peche. I did not purchase all of these yet but am going to. Perhaps I should have a cocktail party...

bigTillyMint · 19/05/2015 19:36

Can I join you vent'ers?

Trivial really, but I cannot get the wifi printer to work on wifi, it will only work when connected by usb cable despite being connected to the internetConfused DH is USELESS and there is steam coming out of my ears!

Yes, MI, yes, yes, yes! We will all comeGrin

MollyAir · 19/05/2015 19:48

Yes, we will certainly all come, and bring additional supplies. And since it's half term next week, maybe BD could come???

herbaceous · 19/05/2015 19:49

Could you have it now, please MI? I have a lesson to plan for tomorrow, am utterly bushed, and have a hideous cold, with really sore throat and the sort of dribbly nose that requires wiping every five seconds, so is already red raw. I've just tried to soothe it with some hemp foot balm - it was not entirely soothing.

In other news, my new cool mum friend invited me to the launch of a new burger and shakes place in Westfield, along with our DSs. It was delicious. I scoffed a burger down in approx five seconds, swiftly followed by delicious crinkle fries and cheese sauce. And a hot dog. And some wine. And a 'custard' milkshake.

MrsSchadenfreude · 19/05/2015 20:10

Molly, how horrific. And yes, I agree, very common.

Herbs - how awful for your DP. Agree with MI - it doesn't fucking stop.

I am still Not Drinking and trying to follow a low fat diet. So I sat there on the front last night with a piece of grilled halibut, salad and boiled potatoes and a sour face while DH tucked into fish and chips. Returned home to no dirty protest from the cats yet although the Shitten was clearly very cross at having been left with a lovely big bowl of dry food.

bigTillyMint · 19/05/2015 20:21

Oh yes, BD you said you might be coming down at half term! Are you going to be here for a MU?

bigTillyMint · 19/05/2015 20:22

Herbs was it a Shake Shack?

MollyAir · 19/05/2015 20:29

Oh dear, MrsS, grilled halibut, salad and boiled potatoes. Gah. I prefer the sound of Herbs' burger n shakes etc.

herbaceous · 19/05/2015 20:32

It was indeed a Shake Shack, BTM. Bloody gorgeous. Though not remotely wheat-free.

bigTillyMint · 19/05/2015 20:36

Ah! In your Westfield? Can recommend it to the DC then or even take them there for a treat. I was reading about then on a thread about NYWink

Blackduck · 19/05/2015 20:37

I am coming down Tuesday, but probably back up Wednesday as have to be in work Thursday... (Although there's a bit of me that goes feck it)
So if anyone is around Tuesday night for a cheeky drink I'll line up DDad to collect Ds and come and vent - hey there's an invitation.

bigTillyMint · 19/05/2015 20:45

Oh no, I will be on the train back from DMs Sad

Blackduck · 19/05/2015 20:47

Nooooooo BTM :(
I could stay Wednesday ( thinks of carnage on train Thursday morning :). Need to look at diary)

motherinferior · 19/05/2015 21:04

Tuesday night is Filthy Foreign Practices Night for Mr Inferior...

Blackduck · 19/05/2015 21:10

oooohhhhhh errrrrr MI ...
Is that a no?

Stropperella · 19/05/2015 21:16

Oh Molly :( that's grim for you, but I agree that these sorts of things are far too common. At the risk of casting a shadow of gloom over a crepey meme, I'm afraid the original Brian the Bucket was named after someone who did not understand that No Means No. I take a certain amount of pleasure from the fact that 30 years on, many people are puking copiously into him. Grin
And Monty, sorry you were greeted by Brian-use on your return for your hols. :(
Herbs, I am so, so sorry to hear about your MiL's diagnosis. A truly crap deal for her. Poor her, poor dp and poor you.
I am done with this half-term. I worked like a crazy person to get an nasty, nasty assignment done for today. Had v encouraging feedback about teaching from learner's class teacher this morning. One more lesson and one more assignment and I'm done (bar an assortment of little bits and pieces to tie up). Time to clean the bathroom, then...

bigTillyMint · 19/05/2015 21:20

BD, if you can, that would be fab! But no worries if notSmile

Stropps, well done! AgainWink

lalsy · 19/05/2015 22:00

Stropps, that is brilliant, this year must have seemed so long....Herbs are you nearly done too?

herbaceous · 19/05/2015 22:19

Nearly. But the next month will be the hardest of the whole course. By the end of June I have to do:
Two 5000-word assignments, to masters level, both based on my own research
Two more formative assessments/observation
One summative assessment, including 500-word rationale, which is pass/fail for the whole course
Yet more bloody reflective essays
Two lots f teaching practice a week
A holiday in Paris
Babysitting my dad
Lots of childcare, as DP will be all over the shop.

Confused
Stropperella · 19/05/2015 22:30

Ah, I have just had my hardest bit - from end of March until now. Considering the damn course is really only part-time, it has not felt part-time At All for the last 6 weeks. People (not me) totter into teaching prac on Tues morning saying, "I went to bed at 5am, I have no idea what my own name is." So fed up with poxy reflective assignments. Blah blah reflective practice, blah bloody blah. Reflecting on my reflections has driven me even madder than I usually am. Eh, Herbs, that inkblots madness test you posted on FB, I was too tramatised by the result I got to post it. It said I was 5* mad -bonkers and then some.

lalsy · 19/05/2015 23:25

Herbs Shock flippin heck, best of luck with the final push. I know we all keep saying this but, really, you are both awesome.

bigTillyMint · 20/05/2015 07:11

Oh God Herbs, that is a lot. Get help wherever you canSmile

bigTillyMint · 20/05/2015 07:22

Oh dear. I have been diagnosed with paranoid personality disorder!

motherinferior · 20/05/2015 07:56

I'm boycotting that test on the possibly tenuous grounds that it can't spell diagnosis.

hattymattie · 20/05/2015 08:43

Well I did the test and came out normal - but I had to put nothing in some instances as what I saw wasn't always in the suggestion boxesConfused.

I have the piano tuner here so and occupying myself by cleaning the fridge before neat freak SiL arrives at the weekend ( she doesn't have children). I have found several interesting and rather old jars.

Herbs and Stropps hats off to you both and all you have to contend with. I don't know how you both find the energy and inner resources to cope.

I have met the school Headmistress about the TA job. She is not sure if that post will exist next year but if it does it will be mine so I'm crossing my fingers. Meanwhile I shall fire off another CV to the other bilingual school here.

DD1 starts her end of first year uni exams tomorrow. It has gone so fast and I can practically feel the stress from here although she starts with Roman law which is her best subjectConfused.
