Unilateral decision... No space for consultation. Call me Dave...

AIBU to feel cross with him? It seems so immature and embarrassing.

Blackduck · 17/05/2015 11:23

Depends how regular an occurrence it is Herbs I guess.

Here house hoovered, fridge cleaned out - we will be living out of the freezer for the next couple of weeks - there's tonnes of stuff in there!

motherinferior · 17/05/2015 11:23

Hmmwell, I am no stranger myself to appalling hangovers, but I don't vomit everywhere. And DP WNBU to get pissed off with me, if I'm honest.

Rosebag · 17/05/2015 11:24

Oh gosh Herbs I'd be going ballistic. But then I have to admit to having extremely low tolerance to drinking to the point of honking up (I mean, why???) and people who don't clean the toilet after use. Poor you… Flowers I suppose boys will be boys… DH holds his drink frighteningly well….

herbaceous · 17/05/2015 11:50

I have made my disapproval clear. He is up, showered, has cleaned the toilet and apologised for being an arse.

NUFC69 · 17/05/2015 12:00

A bit of a result then, Herbs. I had words with DS last week (almost 39) when his DW told me that he had been ill after a night out with former colleagues. Evidently DGD1 opened the front door to her other GM and said 'daddy's in the toilet being sick'. I told DS that he should grow up - he said it was the first time in 6 years. Interfering mother emoticon.

I meant to say that I liked the Reiker shoes and sandals but the ones I tried on weren't right for me, but will definitely try again. I did, however, order a pair of grey and purple Sketchers trainers.

Must get back to the kitchen with DGS1 - we have made a belated birthday cake for his DS and we need to fill and decorate it.

lalsy · 17/05/2015 12:54

NU, I now have three pairs of Sketchers. Incredibly comfortable shoes. And I have very awkward feet.

bigTillyMint · 17/05/2015 13:41

Herbs, YWNBU and he knew it. Good!

I am feeling knackered after the wedding, though DH lost the plot on the way home and we drove back through Muswell Hill, Holloway, Islington, the City, etc (haven't been that way for ages so much more interesting than the usual route) with the petrol light blinking (rather stressful) and then I had to drop DD to school which involved negotiating the roads full of braying, cultured posho's (local festivalWink)

addle · 17/05/2015 13:47

i dropped ds off to school, btm, lots of other boys there and i thought how happy and friendly they looked [blinkered]

was at a great blancmange gig in shoreditch last night, in a graffiti covered gallery. blimey, it's a different (hipster) world round there

herbaceous · 17/05/2015 13:57

Well, I'm at the party. Billed as running 1 til 6, we got there at 1.30 and they were still setting up. All the kids have been ushered out into the nearby playground. Which is now full of Elsas. Imminent escape looks unlikely.

bigTillyMint · 17/05/2015 13:58

BlancmangeShock I saw them 33/34 years ago in Liverpool (might have been at the Poly as I went some male friends who were there when I was in the Sixth Form)! Were they aged fab?!

Yes, they all look remarkably upbeat considering they are mid-exams!

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/05/2015 14:09

I have no gallbladder and can throw up quite spectacularly sometimes, after only two glasses of wine. Sad Fortunately, if this is going to happen, I usually start to feel queasy during the first one, and stop then and there. But other times it can just catch me on the hop.

I am dithering about which shoes to take to Brighton as rain is forecast...

NUFC69 · 17/05/2015 14:41

Meant to say, DH has been given the all clear by the doctor to go to Canada next month. It's cost him a further £500 in insurance cover as, evidently, our existing world wide yearly policy didn't cover him. All we need to do now is to finalise the arrangements.

herbaceous · 17/05/2015 15:43

Turns out the deal with the party was to arrive at some point between 1 and 6. DS decided he had a tummy ache, and wanted to come home, just as some people we actually knew arrived, over an hour after we got there.

Now he's on the iPad, DP is asleep on the settee and I'm doing college work. Parenting fail.

lalsy · 17/05/2015 15:44

NU, great news on dh - ouch about the insurance - so good though you can both look ahead to Canada. Where are you going to go?

motherinferior · 17/05/2015 16:07

I bought new trainers for running yesterday - my knee really is not good and I need to rest it but also run in different shoes. Have to say said trainers are blissfully comfortable and I am now thoroughly converted to them as Proper Shoes. Need something a little less in-your-face for normal, though.

addle · 17/05/2015 16:58

BTM - was just Neil Arthur not the other chap too but yes aged extremely well. Could have stayed for afterparty but it would have meant missing out on lift home so wimped out. Inspector Calls on the dvd for us tonight.

Herbs - not at all fail surely - you went out, and now you're back AND working.

NU, sorry about the insurance but am so pleased DH can go.

Washed blanket that hangs against back of front door in winter. REEKED of cat wee. Yuck. V exclusive.

bigTillyMint · 17/05/2015 17:04

Afterparty? Get you!Envy
Maybe we should watch that too.

NU glad to hear that your DH can go, not so good on the cost.

herbaceous · 17/05/2015 17:18

BTM, you were in Liverpool in the mid-80s? So was I! I bet I was at that Blancmange gig.

Good news about DH and his coronary tubing, NU. Canada will be brill.

DP now downstairs cooking a chilli for our dinner, while I do a reflective essay on the changes to 16-19 English and Maths teaching. I don't know what I'm talking about.

bigTillyMint · 17/05/2015 17:35

Well, early 80's - I left in 83, though I did go back for the odd weekend! Went to loads of gigs in the early 80's with afore-mentioned friends - there was a lot going on then. Probably still is now! Did you go to Larks in the Park - was fab in the early 80's. Went to The State quite a bit too, in fact even on the odd weekend returns.

CointreauVersial · 17/05/2015 17:53

Ooh, I love Blancmange! Never been to any gigs, though. Or after-parties.

Here, it's another day, another football event; trophy afternoon, drinks and BBQ for DS's Sunday team. DH and DS spent the morning at a tournament in East Sussex (ie miles away), then phoned me from McDonald's to tell me they were running late. So late, in fact, that we got to the event just as they were packing up the BBQ, so DD2 and I ended up with crisps and Mars Bars for lunch. Needless to say, the boys weren't hungry.... Angry

I am contemplating a loft purge, although I have left it rather late in the day. I can't bear going in there when it's warm, and I'm scared of all the Queen wasps which have been appearing of late. I really need to stick some more stuff on eBay.

lalsy · 17/05/2015 18:05

MI, what kind of trainers did you get? I have just bought some Sketchers that look like slippers for the summer, as I know otherwise I will wear trainers the whole time - I am so much happier when I can walk properly. Not very S and B at all, my feet.

herbaceous · 17/05/2015 18:06

Ah, I wasn't there until 1984, but also went to Larks in the Park, and to the State! And lots of studenty dives that no doubt aren't there any more. Casablanca, the Raz, MacMillans, some odd little Irish pub with a stone floor, Everyman cafe, er.... I did seem to spend most of my time drunk, or lying on the floor of a taxi so it looked like there was only five of us.

bigTillyMint · 17/05/2015 19:06

Taxis as a student? Mind you, I was in Sheffield and never paid more than 5p for a bus ride!

herbaceous · 17/05/2015 19:21

I think if there were six of us, it worked out the same price as getting the bus. It was generally only done after a big night out!
