Have the Workwear Chatty threads stopped?

MrsBertMacklin · 11/04/2015 00:22

Just clearing down my Watched Threads and realised that I've not seen one in Active Convos for ages, can't find one on the first 5 pages in topic.

Have they stopped? Summer is coming!

Also, I often find trousers like this in grey at H&M, too (although they are sold out online, at the mo) tablet.hm.com/gb/product/31811?article=31811-G

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 12/04/2015 20:45

I don't see grey in these, but these are great work trousers for summer - slim, cropped and flattering www.zara.com/uk/en/woman/trousers/smart/skinny-trousers-c401020p2488101.html

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 12/04/2015 20:48

Similar, but slightly cheaper www.zara.com/uk/en/woman/trousers/smart/belted-trousers-c401020p2476081.html

Hattie - I would also look at J Crew, if your budget is a bit beefier than Zara et al. Their trousers are great and some of the styles come in grey. Shame the UK pricing is so steep.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/04/2015 20:49

For those in the market for lipsticks this shade is lovely and an absolute bargain. Not v long lasting, obviously, at that price - but v flattering and not at all drying. Have tried MUA in the past and not been impressed, but this is lovely.

Hettie - I've just got these grey trousers, in the White Company sale. I don't know how they compare to the Gap ones, and they need a longer top because of the side zip, but they are a lovely thick cotton, with good stretch. Need to size down.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/04/2015 20:49

Actually, they might not be causal enough.

ElizabethHoover · 12/04/2015 21:00

i dont like the Gap straight any more. I warn you, they feel very flappy in comp with the Gap skinny ones. ( h who NEVER opines on my clothes admired those)

ElizabethHoover · 12/04/2015 21:01

ooh those zara ones are styled with my Next shoes ! Grin

AND A LACE TOP

ElizabethHoover · 12/04/2015 21:02

ha i have THREE PAIRS of those Gap ones from last year. Size L for a size 12 fgs

hettie · 12/04/2015 21:15

Oooh thank you (am overwhelmed Blush). I'd looked at the BR ones before- they are on my list. Agree about J crew, but also agree about the price. I love the zara options- the orange pair are amazing (but I am getting distracted- grey was the missing gap in the wardrobe). Will check out white stuff at lunch tommorow (for some reason I never think of them for trousers- just cardi's and P.J's)...

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/04/2015 21:16

White Company, not White Stuff.

ElizabethHoover · 12/04/2015 21:18

ooh they do them in rl sizes this year. thats better

ElizabethHoover · 12/04/2015 21:19

ooh yes company not stuff waves sign of a cross

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/04/2015 21:21

cheminotte · 12/04/2015 21:22

I started a thread asking for any summer suits, so will be interested in any advice. As pp said though, prefer not tangerine!

hettie · 12/04/2015 21:37

I think the posh little row of shops that houses the white company not stuff branch I was thinking of would be horrified to think I'd mistaken the too Grin

hettie · 12/04/2015 21:37

two (bloody autocorrect)

FrugalFashionista · 12/04/2015 21:41

Belinda are you me? Raspberry reds are some of my best shades, and so are mauves (just hate how old-ladyish that sounds). My perfect lipstick is probably the exact shade of wild rose petals but slighly muted grayed or browned pinks are more versatile for most outfits. I've worn rosewood shades a lot - probably more than anything else. And also remember experiementing one year with Rouge Noir type vampire lippy - that look never worked for me but I can sometimes wear it as a stain. Thanks for the great budget tips, I will explore them when my current stash needs replacing. Your restoration hobby sounds fab btw!

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 12/04/2015 21:47

Yes, I am Frugal Belinda - we've morphed into one Grin. Actually, a lot of your posts often resonate w me re buying too much etc. anyway... If you need a good nude nail polish Maybelline Rose Poudre is a rose w greige undertones. Also, Boots No 7 do a great wine colour that's purple-y in their (faux) gel range. I've moved to using proper gel polish now (I bought the SensatioNail DIY set), though, as it's more efficient for me.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 12/04/2015 21:50

cheminotte - J Crew do light weight merino wool suiting, which is worth a look. Some of it goes on sale, too. Summer suits are the very devil to find, so I'd look their first. J Crew take their fabrics seriously, unlike lots of other brands. I've assumed it's firmal wool suiting you want?

Merriboo · 12/04/2015 21:56

Hope you're feeling better Belinda

Hettie what about these? they didn't have them in store in my size last week, otherwise I would have been tempted. Had gone in to look at jigsaw paris and whistles gaby- loved both but spring sunshine put me off at the time Hmm I get work trousers from H&m too, but my local had mainly navy and black last week

looki · 12/04/2015 21:59

Can someone (anyone?) please post midi skirts that might suit a 5 ft. 2? I have bought and returned two so far and would love one, particularly a patterned one that I could wear a plain top with?

looki · 12/04/2015 22:07

Do BR restock ie the same stock? I finally bought a pair of slogan fit black trousers and while I love the fit and even though I am 5 ft. 2 they feel too short. I have read a lot of comments about shrinkage too so want to get the regular fit ones. I asked their online chat rep. who didn't know or care much.

hettie · 12/04/2015 22:11

ooh I really like those merriboo they are the perfect colour

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 12/04/2015 22:21

looki - BR do restock / keep bringing out the same styles. I'm surprised their customer service was poor - being a U.S. brand, it's normally v good. At least you have us to ask Grin

Cringe - in my last post there's a "their" instead of "there". Plus firmal instead of formal, but at least that's an obv typo.
