queen I love those a Laurent shoes, beautiful.

I had a really bad style low morale day, I went shopping to Westfield. I saw a girl I used to go to school with, haven't seen her in years but we are facebook friends so instantly recognised her. I was going to say hello, but luckily caught sight of myself in a mirror, I looked dreadful, so I hid. My skin looks bad, ever though I'd put make up on in the morning I just look tired and old. I was wearing my prada puffa, a teal prada jumper, vb blue jeans and my uggs (which tbh I felt like burning when I got home), dh had asked in the morning if I'd washed my hair (which I had) as it looked bumpy. Anyway, seriously and I don't mean this in anyway badly at all, but how can someone who was wearing such expensive stuff look so bad? I really need an overhaul :(

I got some nice boots, that were actually from New Look, but I really liked the colour, will link in a sec. And re got the gold studs that I'd lost the other week.

QueenCardigan · 22/03/2015 09:15

for dry again

QueenCardigan · 22/03/2015 09:15

another for dry

Karbea · 22/03/2015 09:18

I love all those things for dry although I'd prefer the top to have a slightly lower neckline for me #bigboobs

BerniceBobsHerHair · 22/03/2015 09:18

Some lovely links QC - love the pink jumpsuit.

I really like your new bag Cranagh

Lovely cos picks QQ I always like the look of their stuff but am not near one and online ordering (from them) is a pita. Ditto & other stories.

Shop not trashy reads but very compelling and good page turners - anything by Sarah Waters. I only recently discovered her stuff but want to read it all now. I was put off by all the salacious reporting about Tipping the Velvet but it does her intelligent, compassionate books a disservice.

Also (back to clothes) what kind of a top do you think would suit your leather leggings for going out? Have you got a silk shirt? That's as imaginative as I can get this morning but others might have better suggestions!

Ujjayi have you thought about trying a capsule wardrobe for a bit? Shop linked to this blog and it is making me think of having a go. Might be a temporary way of seeing if you like owning less and wearing it more (also what I aspire to, though I also have magpie tendencies which are incompatible with minimalism).

Btw, first in the queue when Amber does a wardrobe clear out Grin

Betty I cross posted with you about 5 pages back (! this thread moves so fast) so it looked like I was ignoring your post, I was not Flowers Thanks for the outfit compliment.

Marsha white trainers wise I think Superga look very classic. I have a pair, they are quite wide as Karbea mentioned. Have you seen these (though you can't really see them what with being white?!) Saw them on the frugality

Dry love the typo! Am interested to hear how you get on with botox so please report back.

One how long until you go on holiday?

Loving all the flares wearing.

Happy Sundays to all.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 22/03/2015 09:21

Ah Karbea sure you didn't look bad but sorry you are feelling that way. Any outfits recently you have felt good in? What about some time with a personal shopper to see if you can get out of your clothes rut? Do you think your Autumn 'diagnosis' is restricting you too much or just making you feel meh? if so, bin it??

Drywhiteplease · 22/03/2015 09:25

Lovely bag Cranagh. My next purchase may we'll be a chocolate brown bag.
Love these

QueenCardigan · 22/03/2015 09:26

Apologies for all the links. I was on a roll this morning Grin
karbea you are gorgeous (having seen a photo of you). Was it just an off day? If so we all get those. Or is it how you feel in general? I can't remember where you live but coukd one of us meet you and go shopping or any other friends you could go with? Or if you gelled and trusted your consultant could you book a personal shopping thing with her? Or as bernice says are you too restricted by the style and colour?

cranagh love your bag.

bettykt · 22/03/2015 09:41

Great links as always QueenC love love the Jil Sander bag, swoon. The dress is to die for and I'd love that jumpsuit in black.

Great Cos buys Queenie looks like the sweater and skirt are becoming MNV staples.

Ujj this year I'm trying to buy less and am only buying stuff on my wish list. Very boring I know but I just want less stuff and with every purchase I'll throw out whatever it replaces. I've rotated the same clothes all winter and it's worked well for me. I have quite plain clothes black, white, grey and don't have to think too much when deciding what to wear.

Karbea Flowers we all have off days and I'm sure you didn't look as bad as you thought, try not to be too hard on yourself.

Avidly taking note of the book recommendations, have been reading the same trilogy for ages now. Need to hurry up and finish it.

Off out on my bike with dc today so wearing practical non stylish clothes, still in Hush pjs at the moment.

bettykt · 22/03/2015 09:42

Forgot to say love your bag Cranagh gorgeous colour.

Karbea · 22/03/2015 09:45

bernice do you think a personal shopper would adhere to the Autumn 'rules' or do you think they'd just try and push you into other things?
Yes I have felt good in some things. My problem is casual, I can't do casual. I just feel scruffy, I really think I need to stop wearing my Uggs as they just look so scruffy to me, but they are so comfy :(
queen I think it's how I feel in general, I need to spend some money on myself but for some reason I just can't. My lovely husband wouldn't raise an eyebrow if I did, I just have this inner guilt about doing it.
I feel really blurrrr about how I look at the mo.

Karbea · 22/03/2015 09:48

When do you read? I'd love to read more but never seem to have the time, ditto of baths, when do people find the time to languish? oh and exercise when do people do that??? I've big time management issues!

Karbea · 22/03/2015 09:50

I think a lot of my downess is due to my painful back.

maradesbois · 22/03/2015 09:56

Karbea I think it was the uggs that knocked your confidence and made you react that way. I find that I drag my feet along in big sheepskin boots instead of walking tall. Plus in all but the coldest of temperatures you'll feel hot and uncomfortable which won't help you feel good either. So my suggestion is to ditch them as 'town' footwear and am sure you'll feel an instant spring in your step Smile.

Marsha if you get supergas size down as they come up at least half a size big. Love them though, have been faithful for over 20 years apart from a dalliance with a pair of pink converse that was just wrong.

Drinking coffee in sunny kitchen reading FT passion for fashion supplement. Blissfully calm morning after dc party madness yesterday. Going to do spaghetti alle vongole for lunch, Angela Hartnett's recipe, love her.

MarshaBrady · 22/03/2015 10:04

That sounds like the perfect early Spring thing to eat Mara.

Bernice those are fab thanks Flowers, think I'm going to do this trend as a cheap option. The Pull & Bear were reduced to £10, could have done with those!

Cranagh that bag is gorgeous, I really love the colour.

Shop short! You definitely suit short hair.

Karbea I really feel for you, can you see someone about your back?

Linus what did you watch? Did you like it?

QueenQ lovely Cos links.

Had a good night out, only had three drinks which is my new anti-feeling bad the next day try out. Feeling good!

Karbea · 22/03/2015 10:13

mara I agree I think it was the boots. I think I'm going to put them away in their box, so I have to really think about it before I put them on.
I'm having a relaxing morning still in pjs I've just made myself a proper cup of tea (with leaves) so yummy! Radio 2 love songs on the radio #cheese!

Drywhiteplease · 22/03/2015 10:32

Drat.....need to go out and so many links, will catch up later

Karbea · 22/03/2015 10:54

Can someone suggest some blue and off white jeans please, I've just thrown away another pair of jeans and can't find my white ones.
Thank you!

BrandyAlexander · 22/03/2015 11:35

Morning Voguettes!!! Glad to hear everyone is well. Really busy week for me. Yesterday was fantastic. Very late night out (how young!). Dh has not been well. As it was self inflicted for 12 hours and he's currently a lump on a sofa, my sympathy is low.??

QueenC and Shop I am finally wearing my warehouse animal print top. It's in the size 6 which is slightly baggy (either vanity sizing gone mad or badly cut) but I love it!

Other fashion news, I bought these j crew white trousers and this j crew perfect fit tee over the last week. Also bought a j crew white blazer (NOT to go with the trousers!).

In holiday news...is Lib back? We will be living Easter holidays vicariously through you all as we decided between work and dds ballet exam that we didn't have time to go away. So annoyed, but we are going to go away at the end of May now for that half term as there are more choices.

Will check out QueenCs links now.Smile

BrandyAlexander · 22/03/2015 11:37

Karbea I bought these Ralph Lauren jeans last year. Fantastic fit but I think they might be white instead of off white. But otherwise would recommend them.

OneLittleLady · 22/03/2015 11:54

bernice I fly first thing thursday morning.

Bought a really cute but cheap bardot style striped top in red and white. I'm seeing it with my light wash long crop denims and sandals and of course, big sunglasses and a sunhat! I wanted it in the navy colourway they had as well but there weren't any in the size I wanted so may stop by for a quick look tomorrow as that's the last chance I have to get anything I might have missed

bettykt · 22/03/2015 11:59

Love the JCrew white trousers Novice

Drywhiteplease · 22/03/2015 13:04

QueenC you know me well. Bit of lace, sleeveless, high neck ....fab.

I'm dressed like this today. Feels very spring like. TS blue shirt and white Baxters, Stans, navy crew neck, bit preppy but nice to get white jeans out.

Karbea I agree with Mara about Uggs, hate them, look like slippers. But, I've always thought you were a very chic lady, sounds to me as if you're having a rough time and that you infact only thought you looked bad, I'm sure you really didn't. I work part time so fit the gym in around that, evenings and weekends. I have teenagers who can be left alone at home. I read in bed.

And finally boast alert, this never happens to me....but cute 20something gym instructor just said "you're looking like a proper athlete, you're so ripped"Shock I was purple, sweaty and had just dribbled .......feeling pretty chuffed though even though, or especially since I'm old enough to be his motherGrin

Karbea · 22/03/2015 13:18

dry that's so great what the gym instructor said! I miss my 6 pack had McDonald's for lunch

I think I might get some tan/nude louboutins or similar tmr 85mm heel, because I really don't need to be wearing boots all the time and my black ones are so comfy.

I also need something to walk the dogs in, flats, any suggestions? A girl yesterday had some really cool pink nikes on, pink isn't a very autumn colour... But something like that might be cool... I could then get some autumnal coloured leggings or cropped jeans to wear.

QueenCardigan · 22/03/2015 13:44

Wow dry that's fantastic.
karbea don't topshop have some off white jeans? I'm sure someone on here has them. ujjayi maybe? Wrt finding time for stuff I'm fairly God at prioritising. I'd love to read more often but tend to prioritise mumsnet over a book. Exercise definitely is a priority for me as I feel so much better when ive done it and am far more happier. I don't get a chance to do as much as I'd like at the moment but once dd starts school there'll be more time.
