It's March. Spring is in the air. We are looking forward to losing layers and baring ankles.

This is the volume of the hen do and wedding. Will queen manage to get shop to wear penis boppers Grin. And will we all shed a tear when the beautiful blair gets married.

Following on from here

I wouldn't do all black to a wedding - but I have done a black and white print with red accessories before.

OneLittleLady · 03/03/2015 19:39

ujjayi OneCat is okay, still getting the major grumps with me every time I have to apply her cream but the sores look like they are improving which is good. thank you for asking after her Smile

I've worn blackt o a wedding more than once but always with bright accessories as I always felt too much black would look too harsh. Last one I went to though, i wore a mint green floral print dress which was quite out of my comfort zone tbh

LinusDKD · 03/03/2015 19:44

The bride doesn't mind, I asked her!

Oh well, I still have 6 months to find a dress so maybe I'll fall in love with a non-black dress.

Or I'll just buy the black one to celebrate my significant birthday at the end of the year. Wink

Drywhiteplease · 03/03/2015 19:58

Not 60 linus BLOODY hell you look good! Grin

LinusDKD · 03/03/2015 20:07

Lol dry! DH is a top plastic surgeon. Wink

Drywhiteplease · 03/03/2015 20:20

I NEED HIS NUMBER!!!!

libertychick · 03/03/2015 20:27

One of my favourite ever wedding outfits was a black shift dress with a HUGE cream hat and the longest ever pearl necklace draped multiple times. It was 16 years ago and I still think it was one of my best sartorial moments ever. I did a reading at the wedding too. My DM did tut at the black.

Cranagh I would love a waterfall cardi but struggle with getting the length right, they tend to either be too short (I want my bum covered) or else too long and seem to drown me. Your All Saints one is lovely. I want to try this cardi the next time I am near an All Saints.

libertychick · 03/03/2015 20:28

Good luck tomorrow Amber. Just think what a great position to be going to an interview in, you are not desperate and can make a decision based on works for you and your family.

QueenCardigan · 03/03/2015 20:40

I've worn black to a wedding before but I accessorised it with a pale blue pashmina and bag. Sounds bad but it did work I promise. Tbh I can't really remember what people wore at mine and eouldnt have cared if they were wearing black or white.
amber good luck.
I like the waterfall-esque cardis as long as they're not called waterfall but I can't have anything too shapeless or covering my bum. My bums big enough and does not need swathes of wool making it look bigger. I did find my perfect cardi that I want for spring in fatface but the material out me off as im worried it'll go shapeless and bobbly.

Glad ds is better Ujj and it is not serious.
Great shopping Cranagh I also have that All saints cardi but from last year but in light grey. I think it's a style they repeat each year. I prefer your navy one to mine now. I like a waterfall cardi too they can be v flattering if you get the right one. I just cannot do any kind of v neck cardi just accentuates my lack of shoulders and flat chest.

Speaking of diets I need to shed a few pounds. I put on at least 4lb in half term. Unfortunately as usual it has mostly gone on my face and thighs.

i think black is fine for a wedding nowadays. At the last one I went to there were a few guests in black dresses.

Drywhiteplease · 03/03/2015 22:34

Waterfall cardis are disastrous in the kitchen though, ESP when unloading the dishwasher. I steer well clear. have the same problem with scarves mind you, I need a maid!
Loads of AW on Outnet.....and IM too.

Does anyone know how I can get rid of that annoying Centre parks ad?

OneLittleLady · 03/03/2015 22:38

have you got the adblocker extension for your browser Dry? I have that and don't see any ads anywhere really

I just ran out of dry shampoo! it's a disaster, must remeber to get some more tomorrow, it gives me volume at the roots which, despite my new found curls, is what I lack so it stops my hair looking flat then bushy, like spaniels ears! haha

justasecond · 03/03/2015 22:43

That's so true Dry Grin I also end up dipping the ends in the dc's plates as I hover over them at dinnertime.

LinusDKD · 04/03/2015 07:41

Morning!

Gah, I am so stuck in a style rut! I think today is the day I finally do a wardrobe clearout so maybe that'll kickstart me into wearing something different than skinnies, bikers and a jumper.

dry have your new Jimmies arrived yet? Mine haven't but I guess it takes a while as they have to come from the US.

shop I keep forgetting to answer your question! No, I haven't been for a run in ages. First everyone got ill and then the weather has been horrible on my running days.

As the French say:"Les excuses sont fait pour s'en servir"

Excuses are there to be made use of Wink

LinusDKD · 04/03/2015 07:53

Has someone seen this top IRL?

I like it a lot and even though I usually don't like mmf, I don't mind viscose. But it depends on the quality of the viscose Grin

Drywhiteplease · 04/03/2015 07:58

No they haven't linus but I have a good delivery day feeling Smile

I'm wearing a fit and flare black Phase 8 boat necked dress with 3/4 sleeves.......very old, shortened to on knee.
Teal cardigan.a tent skinny black belt
Black Patent and suede point flats from LKB
Feel nice bracing myself for my WBD spectacular outfit for tomorrow, not a fashion statement!

Drywhiteplease · 04/03/2015 08:00

I'm not wearing a "tent" that would be "a patent skinny belt"

shopafrolic · 04/03/2015 08:25

Morning all - good luck Amber
Linus I know what you mean about style rut. Eyes Goldsign Lures, sweater and Pistols suspiciously.
I keep looking on the Outnet for Grand Cayman suitable clothing - not feeling inspired. Thinking about heading to Bicester on Saturday - will it be carnage?

Fedupnagging · 04/03/2015 08:32

So, let me get this straight, bootcuts and waterfall cardi's are back in fashion? I can't keep up

Good luck today Amber

Ujjayi glad your ds is on the mend - bit worrying for a moment there. Also very impressed with your dedication to exercise AND mumsnet!

I haven't worn black to a wedding but wouldn't rule it out accessorised with another colour. dsil wore black and cream to mine which I didn't mind. Dm was a bit sniffy though!

Linus I am heading to my local high street later so will have a look in New Look for that blouse. It is really pretty but you're right, it depends on what the fabric is like.

Fedupnagging · 04/03/2015 08:39

Shop we popped into Bicester on Sunday - it was a nightmare (and really cold) so didn't stay long.

I was looking for clothes for Australia and didn't really see anything suitable; the only thing I bought was a Tory Burch shirt. There were a few things in Ralph Lauren but the queue to try on was horrendous so didn't bother.

Yes, I am aware that I am a miserable cow when shopping in crowds Grin

libertychick · 04/03/2015 08:58

I think the style of waterfall cardi is very important. It has to be drapy, some texture is good, luxe fabrics and the right length. Most of them are still shockers.

All the talk of style ruts is making me realise that one of the benefits of work is getting to dress up a bit and being forced to wear something a bit different every day. Although I am wearing a midi navy skirt today (from AOS) and DD said (in a highly approving tone) 'Mummy, you look just like Great Aunt Lizzie' Shock Confused Blush. For those of you who are not up to date on your Cbeebies viewing Google 'Teacup Travels' and you'll see who Great Aunt Lizzie is.

LinusDKD · 04/03/2015 09:08

You so don't look like Great Aunt Lizzie!

libertychick · 04/03/2015 09:14

Ditto Linus!!! Especially in winter. In the summer months I take DD to the park in the evening or play in the garden but we are in a big Cbeebies rut in the evening ATM.

QueenCardigan · 04/03/2015 09:45

At least your toddlers watch age appropriate TV. My 3 year old ends up watching horrid Henry, Pokemon and all the teenage shit that big dd likes.

Lovely top linus. Im a big fan of viscose but only if it's the silky stuff rather than the more Jersey like stuff.
shop Bicester on a Saturday sounds horrendous. Far better to do regent St next saturday Wink. I haven't seen much s/s to inspire me yet and am also feeling in a rut but it's just so cold again that it's difficult to break out of the jeans/top/cardi thing.

I spent last night painting bits of paper with my tester pots all 12 of them. Aside from 2 statement colours hopes santa isn't reading they're all varying shades of cream/beige.

Just catching up after what seems like ages and place marking.

Have PMed you QueenC - hope to make at least part of the MU. I'll probably be quite casual though, also stuck in winter style rut.

Have you started watching Hoc 3 yet Dry? I've only done the first episode and then have been feeling a bit under the weather so not up to coping with the machevellian goings on. BUt Claire's outfit when she is taken to the military meeting in the middle of the night is perfect. Skinny black jeans that end just above her ankle, white shirt and black jumper, no socks and brogues or some sort of flats- so simple but she looks fantastic.
