Well done Ujj, it must have been hard, you both did it well.

maradesbois · 07/02/2015 08:22

Morning!

Am just catching up with the thread over my morning espresso

LinusDKD · 07/02/2015 08:22

Welcome lacuna

And well done ujjayi! And good on your DH as well!

QueenCardigan · 07/02/2015 08:43

Phew, lots to catch up on.
amber they arrived but haven't hadva chance to try on yet Thanks
ujjayi hope it's all sorted, well done.

Celebs I have an irrational hatred of...
Myleene Klass-doesn't everyone?
Victoria Beckham- totally up her own arse
Nicole Kidman-a face I want to slap
Carole vorderman-loves herself
Gwyneth Paltrow/Chris Martin-smug, self satisfied
Bono-smug, self satisfied also
Christine bleakly-smug WAG
Madonna-used to love her but she annoyed me constantly trying to shock
KK/Kanye. Just no.
Kirstie Allsop-used to love her but became too smug with her 'homemade home'
Jamie Oliver-again, too smug nowadays
There must be loads more....

Celebs I'd have dinner with...
Kate Moss-as long as she didn't bring drugs to dinner. And I've seen her irl and she's short and bow legged. But gorgeous.
That woman with the unusual name and really bright clothes that does the kids charity stuff. Carmen someone? Really admire her.
Jane Austen-love her wit and social observation
Will have to think of more....

Welcome TheLacuna I'm a jewel winter too (and entirely convinced this time) :)
Ujjayi fab work - well done for being so brave and good on your DH too. But yes, if it continues then complain to his employer xx
Off to a kid's party this morning and then have my DB visiting this weekend. Will flit in and out if I can. Have lovely weekends Voguettes. MWAH

Topazandpearl · 07/02/2015 09:08

Well done to you both Ujayi. I hope he got the message.

Welcome The Lacuna, another northern-living Voguette here.

It feels a bit warmer today so, for once, I am not swathed in layers of cashmere - reminds me that I have to do a big cashmere wash today. Your day sounds more fun mara.

I had wanted to go to see Selma tonight but had forgotten that DH will be glued to the rugby. Might go tomorrow.

Fedupnagging · 07/02/2015 09:09

Well done Ujjayi glad you found the nerve to speak up and good on your dh too.

Hi to Lacuna. Everyone is so lovely on this thread so please stay.

Right, have caught up on all the links but there are too mention and anyway, you've all moved on to slebs now!

Except, loved the flares convo. Actual flares I can do with a slim fitting top but don't look so good in the tight around the thigh flares. Am vertically challenged so need to be careful not to look too dumpy.

I have a pair of clogs similar to these which I used to wear with bootcuts. They would look great with flares.

So, are flares 'in vogue' now? What about bootcut trousers? Love the skinnies look but could do with ringing the changes.

Will think about celebs I'd like to have a drink with. George Clooney goes without saying

Karbea · 07/02/2015 09:22

what do you think of this blazer?

santamarianovella · 07/02/2015 09:58

Good god karbea! Noooo! That's very Kate M!

ujj well done, hope its all sorted, and you don't hear from him again.

lacuna welcome , im another ex londoner too!

AmberNectarine · 07/02/2015 10:05

I think QueenC means Camila Batmanghelidjh.

Can I add Rachel Riley to my list of people I hate. I want to go on countdown just so I can get all the answers so she has no opportunity to be smug!

bettykt · 07/02/2015 10:13

Welcome Lacuna*

Ujj glad you and DH put him straight. Hoping that's the end of that.

Don't hold back now QueenC Grin

Slimey, lying, hypocritical politicians annoy me more than slebs.

Ujjayi · 07/02/2015 10:30

Could Jess Cartner-Morley be any more patronising? Her column on suede vs leather. She gives this hierarchy of how a trend filters down...as mothers we are "wannabe glamorous school run mums channelling reality soap stars". Clearly none of us read Vogue, have heard of Emmanuelle Alt, nor have our own sense of style. She infuriates me! So that's another one added to the list.

Karbea · 07/02/2015 10:40

Hahahahaha santa you nearly made me spurt out my coffee!
I think I'm going to give up on autumn, I can find anything in the right colours :(
I know the jacket isn't nice, but I figured it was an autumn colour... Urghh...
I can't work out how a relatively intelligent person can no longer find anything to wear.

Karbea · 07/02/2015 10:45

I need to find two outfits one to go out with dh next weekend and one to wear for lunch with some girlfriends (both beautiful) to a lovely restaurant in a few weeks time. Both before my style day which'll probably just confuse me more.
The really annoying thing is I can see the autumn colours look better on me than old faithful black, and I can see once I've a few more items it'll actually be much, much easier to look good.
I wish I could just wake up with a starter autumn wardrobe in my wardrobe... Hurumpf... off to have a tantrum

libertychick · 07/02/2015 10:59

I am having a sulk about it too karbea. Work basics are very hard to find in autumn colours. I have some really important meetings over next few weeks and cannot find dresses or skirts in the right colours that flatter me. Also I feel more limited now as I used to wear above knee skirts in black/Navy with black opaques and black boots or shoes but they look all wrong with the autumn shades and my legs are not in good enough shape to wear short skirt with nude tights.

Karbea · 07/02/2015 11:06

lib luckily I don't have to think about work wear. But I can imagine to do autumn correctly it would actually be impossible at this time of year unless you wore brown (which would look like my old school uniform!).

I wear jeans all of the time (I wish I didn't but I do), denim blue isn't the right shade for any if the autumn blues, clearly I can't wear black. So I think I need to get something in khaki, but then what colour shoes do I wear (I'm very tempted by the IM ones but they are very £££ for something which could be a mistake and I guess I could only wear them with greenish coloured bottoms. I think I'm getting to grips with the top bit as the worse case scenario is to wear a cream colour all of the time and I've a khaki puffa which I don't normally wear all the time, but my smarter coat is grey. I've a brown leather jacket which tbh I don't love but at least as soon as the weather is better I can wear that.

Oh woe is us, it's rubbish ;)

libertychick · 07/02/2015 11:17

There are no nice dark brown trousers or skirts available. This is a fact! I have hunted both high and low end. I am sticking with blue jeans. I think they look good with all the autumn colours. I'm not giving up black skinnies either. Again they look good with forest green, mustard, kakhi etc. Cream is OK with black for work but I am getting fed up of wearing it all the time. And like you I can really see now how rubbish I look with black, grey, pale blue, white etc against my face so it's hard to wear my current stuff.
And anything I can find that is work appropriate in autumn colours is not particularly stylish.

OP posts:
LinusDKD · 07/02/2015 11:30

Would this skirt work for an Autumn lib?

Karbea · 07/02/2015 11:33

lib I agree on the un stylish autumn colours. Being petite I do prefer fitted things and I just can't find anything, shirts are ok, but I have to be careful being small with big boobs something's means shirts either gape or look matronly.
I think I'm going to get dressed into something snugly and do a big online shop, dh is in bed feeling unwell and I've hurt my arm doing yoga yesterday, so going to just order random brown, green, and cream things and see what sticks!

libertychick · 07/02/2015 11:35

Bless you Linus - that does look like it could work. Out on phone ATM so will have a proper look later and maybe order. Or I might see if I could fit in a visit to Marylebone high street on Monday and have a proper look around Matches and Gerard Darel etc

LinusDKD · 07/02/2015 11:38

Or this could work with your teal shirt?

MarshaBrady · 07/02/2015 11:43

Brown, green and cream? Ok random links from the outnet coming up.
