Still going strong as we head into 2015. Not a chance I can beat the vol 50 intro from the lovely Dry so I won't even try. Lots of newbies have joined the fun, why don't you? Come tell us your sales splurges. All welcome for fun fashion chat.

My God this thread moves fast! Still catching up, but now rather in lurve with Woolrich coats; how hadn't I come cross them before? Gorgeous. Red one fabulous, but limiting colour-wise and at that price I think I'd need to go more boring neutral. Those colours not on sale (yet?). Obviously….

Love a 70s flared jean myself. Only downside is I think they need to be worn with heels (upside being they can be wedges/platforms so more comfy) and I am so lazy I like sticking with flats where possible.

Oh - and am very much a High Street shopper these days (sadly) with the odd more extravagant thing thrown in so please can High St people not leave the thread!!

Alsoflamingo · 04/01/2015 10:07

Random Q - what ever happened to the Brazilian hair straightening trend? Used to be everywhere - now never mentioned. Just wondering…. My hair is annoyingly frizzy and was thinking about getting it done again, but wondering if there is a reason there aren't any promos for it in salons anymore (maybe it is bad for hair or something???)

muddlingalongquitenicely · 04/01/2015 10:10

Morning everyone.

I have a long list of planned purchases for this year, so have broken it down in to 2 lists.

work wear - trousers, tops, fine knit jumpers/cardigans(not sure yet), dresses and skirts. I am okay for shoes but need a new work bag - was looking at a zara city bag but not sure if its too big but I need to be able to get my lunch and other bits and pieces in to it.

non work wear - jeans, shirts, jumpers, dresses, skirts, t- shirts no need for bags but could do with a flat pair of ankle boots as all mine are heeled or I have a pair of scruffy biker boots currently for dog walking. rest of shoes are okay for now (i have quite a collection on a large book shelf in another room) possibly some trainers for non gym wear.

I also want something nice to wear for when I go to London to see phantom and I have a wedding to go to in May.

I have vowed to stay out of primark, new look, asda, tesco, matalan and try mango, zara, river island etc.
I would also like a pair of designer shoes but after reading some reviews I am quite concerned as a lot of people say they are very uncomfortable (Louboutins being the majority mentioned) and I don't want to spend a lot of money on something uncomfortable.

sorry for the long Sunday morning post!

Karbea · 04/01/2015 10:14

muddling my louboutin's are very comfy, but they are only 80s (heel height), 120s are very high and would be painful regardless of make I think.

I want a whole new wardrobe and more than happy for this thread to dress me.

Fedupnagging · 04/01/2015 10:16

I had forgotten it is Sunday so imagine my happy smile when I came across Queen's links.

I will NOT be wearing a crochet top this year no matter how fashion forward. As I was a child of the 70's, there is photographic evidence of how awful homemade crochet garments look on me.

I did like the cream dress though and yes to wide legged trousers in the summer.

Remus I hope you stay - love your pins. Also love those grey boots.

Stokey my petty's have not arrived yet and definitely ordered before you. May need to chase tomorrow.

Mara, I like the navy coat.

Lib hope the party goes well.

Santa, definitely see The Theory of Everything. We went yesterday and it is so worth watching. I my have shed a tear. I think I read somewhere that the story is pretty accurate - have new found respect for Stephen Hawking and his ex wife Jane.

GeorginaWorsley · 04/01/2015 10:21

I Love Navy And Grey and white.
Basically white company palette

muddlingalongquitenicely · 04/01/2015 10:22

thanks Karbea I have always wanted a pair and hoping to get some in London when I go. I will be in shoe heaven!

I forgot to put on my list a wool coat and a trench.

I need to get some colour in to my clothes my current clothes are mostly black, grey, cream (i did buy an orangey jumper from H&M recently so I am trying)

i do have some scarves and love reds and purples they seem to lighten/warm up my face - i have pale skin and dark hair

bettykt · 04/01/2015 10:51

Dry I like those shoes, hm might consider as a work shoes they are very classic did you buy the boots as well? I initially conjured up this image of Kris K but now you mentioned it I can see this is more of the look you are going for very chic.

I've just bought some practical stuff these Hush pyjamas been after them for a while but finally took the plunge.

Also bought some black trousers for work I have the Bistro crop but my ankles and feet are getting a bit cold.

Loving the Sunday morning chit chat. I have 2 poorly dc Sad

QueenCardigan · 04/01/2015 10:52

muddling I love the idea of a shoe collection on a bookcase.

OneLittleLady · 04/01/2015 10:56

morning all

Hmm, I don't think I'll be buying into the crochet and flares! Keep being told flares or bootcut will 'balance me out' but i don't like how they look on me, they make the whole of my leg look really thick, if that makes sense

thanks for the uniqlo tip, was it Stokey or fedup? sorry I haven't read back as I'm doing a billion things at the same time!

muddlingalongquitenicely · 04/01/2015 11:06

Thanks QC was my hubbys idea had a spare book case and ran out if room on my shoe rack Grin

shopafrolic · 04/01/2015 11:26

Fedup you might enjoy reading this Theory of Everything - scroll down past the actor pics and it compares reality to the film. I'd love to see it.

Dry I liked those suede boots from LKB but they didn't have them in my size.
Love all the links this morning QueenC the 70s vibe is so not me although for a while there many years back I would try it every summer.

Am in with ill ds so may be on here a lot today. Have sent dh out to Ladurée in search of a galette des rois (French epiphany cake with frangipane enclosed in puff pastry) to see if the ceremony of it perks him up. A bit like coin in the Christmas pudding there is a hidden porcelain trinket and the person who comes across it gets to be the king and wear a cardboard crown. The healthy eating can be put back another day.

Btw love Dry's take on January detox, gin n' slim Grin. Agree cut down not out though, I tried a vegetable fast last year where no seasoning etc allowed and was ready to kill someone after 2 days. Dh still talks about it. The 5:2 is working well for me so starting up again on tue.

More coats:
looks tomato red in the pic but they call it orange. Would need to see irl.

looks camel coloured in the pic. Again would need to try irl, Internet shopping still has a way to go re translating colours correctly.

Also came across 'my' Moncler in navy which much prefer to the black.

If anyone has a matches or mytheresa code they aren't using would love to hear from you.

maradesbois · 04/01/2015 12:00

Also I did the Brazilian hair thing once but didn't think it justified the price plus hated not being able to wash or tie back hair for 36 hrs. Good conditioner and ghds are enough for me.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/01/2015 12:32

Hi everybody. So glad to see that I'm not the only high streeter!

Haven't caught up with all the links yet, but just wanted to say that, 'The Theory of Everything' is absolutely amazing. I urge everybody to see it!

Alsoflamingo · 04/01/2015 12:49

Have those Hush PJs, Betty. They are a total joy.

OneLittleLady · 04/01/2015 12:50

Soooo nervous, it's assignment hand in tomorrow. First proper hand in and I'm terrified I won't pass the module and I've not done enough for the assignment. Only one way to find out and that's to hand it in and await marking!

remus lots of high street in here, I for one don't have the budget for real high end stuff plus I've not got the right shape for a lot of it Wink

bettykt · 04/01/2015 12:51

Mara sorry to hear ds is poorly, hope la galette perks him up. The pox has returned only this time in duplicate and bad doses Sad have never seem my chirpy, exuberant dc looking so poorly, they're hardly ever ill and they feel really sorry for themselves. I prefer the Moncler in navy, it looks less 'harsh' than black.

Also I did my own Brazilian Blow-dry with kit from Amazon in fact I need to do it again. I've since cut my hair so hopefully it will be easier to do.

bettykt · 04/01/2015 12:55

Also I know this is sad but I can't wait for them to arrive. Grin

One I'm sure you're assignment is more than fine, good luck.Flowers

Drywhiteplease · 04/01/2015 13:17

Also and Remus h st has always been on here....this thread, dispute it's name! is just about any fashion really......
Muddling shoes on a bookcase!!!!!! Imagine the dust Shock old mnvoguettes groan, I'm so predictable, bloody OCD Grin
Betty that's exactly the look althogh love monochrome! and really love a bit of black with white collar and cuffs showing iykwim.

Mara I may market my diet! ........But seriously Dukan works really well for me.

Karbea · 04/01/2015 14:56

I'm going to try and cook from the hemsley cook book, lots of healthy things in there. I've just had a healthy omelette although I had Stilton on it too.
I love those pjs, would it be very sad to order them? I think my dh might think them very grannyish, he prefers me in slinky numbers, but they aren't comfy or warm in this weather, so I've been living in my cosy white company ones, but really they need replacing.

OneLittleLady · 04/01/2015 14:58

karbea I would order them, sometimes looking a bit less glamourous is essential as being cold is no fun for anyone!

Stokey · 04/01/2015 15:17

Hush sale starts on Tuesday Karbea so I'd hold off, although they are having a 20% presale discount now. There are a couple of things that I've got my eye on so am holding my nerve.

bettykt · 04/01/2015 15:27

Karbea I ordered the pjs with 20% off, last year I tried buying them in the sale and either they weren't in the sale or they they had sold out in my size, I can't remember. To coin a Marsha term you could try playing sales chicken and wait to see if they are in the sale on Tuesday. I don't intend wearing them to bed, they're brushed cotton so would be too warm I imagine, I bought them for lounging around the house.
