fedup I can't remember! Dh took me to New York a couple of months beforehand (as he couldn't get time off around my birthday) and he proposed. And I know I got a watch from my parents so I think I had a meal with them. Oh god, it's only 11 years ago- how can my memory be so vague Confused.

DS is fine thanks. No temperature but just complaining if earache so will be going to school tomorrow I hope.

Drywhiteplease · 15/12/2014 22:32

I love Kat from Does my bum look 40.....she has just said "black skinny rib polo neck" and "leather pencil skirt" in one sentence. I have both in my wardrobe! New fav outfit....will try and report back. Why can't I work it out for myself? Hmm

Fedup didn't have a big do for 30 was saving for wedding infact I didn't have a big do for 40 either weekend in Venice and almighty girls night out though . I feel I need a big do for the next one Smile

Yes, have a big party Dry, celebrate in style. I had a big do for my 40th, now planning a big holiday for 50th!

Queen, my memory got worse with each pregnancy if that helps....

Lib, your 30th sounded exhausting (but fun)

BrandyAlexander · 15/12/2014 22:47

Evening! Huge meal out with client. And lots of red wine. I may actually go pop, I feel so full.Blush

QueenC loved yesterday's links. Thanks There was one I particularly loved, must go back and check it out.

Dry love tonight's links. Those Oscar dresses are divine.

Is everyone else drowning under the deluge of codes? Just saw the warehouse one tonight.

BrandyAlexander · 15/12/2014 22:51

Also having mild panic. I have 8 presents I send overseas. 4 are done. I know what I want for 3 of the next 4 but not the last one. dh no help at all, it's his best mate. He's still at work so can really yell at him.Hmm

libertychick · 15/12/2014 23:08

I dispatched all my overseas presents today novice. What did you get his friend last year (as a clue for the type of thing he might like)? Failing anything else, does he drink? My failsafe gift for men is good whiskey.

BrandyAlexander · 15/12/2014 23:37

I know today was the last day to guarantee delivery by Christmas!Blush In previous years we have got him something gadget-y. Or a joint present. Dh is busy at work and won't focus on this till it's way too late. If it was just his feelings I would leave him to it Hmm but I did that once before and his mate was quite gutted that everyone else got a present so I don't want to hurt his feelings. Can't get alcohol, we got them a box last year!

AmberNectarine · 15/12/2014 23:38

I haven't really celebrated a birthday properly since I turned 23 (the night I met my DH at the office Xmas party). 24 - I had just got engaged to DH but was ill on my birthday, 25 - my due date with DS (needless to say he didn't arrive), 26 - pregnant with DD, 27 - bfing DD and just plain knackered by 2 under 2, 28 - see previous, 29 - DD demonically clingy and couldn't go far, made it to local pub with DH for couple of hours. So I'm due a celebration, I think!

Just spent 4 hours and 5 rolls of paper wrapping presents and I'm still not done. Going to bed, need beauty sleep!

LinusDKD · 16/12/2014 07:20

Morning!

Yawn, another night, another DD being a pain in the behind. I have no clue what's wrong with her but lately she takes ages to settle down at night and then she wakes up really early in the morning. Today it was 5.30 Sad

I hope it's a phase and she reverts back to being the good sleeper she was. I have had enough sleep deprivation with DS to last me a lifetime.

novice how about a Fortnum's hamper for your friend? I think you can still order until midnight tonight for international deliveries.

queenc those dresses you linked for novice are gorgeous. Real kick-ass business woman dresses.

I have no clue anymore what I did for my 30th birthday. Blush I was living and working in London but I really can't remember anything else.

Does any of you lovely MNVoguettes live or work near a Uniqlo. I love their Merino crew necks after picking one up in NY and had asked a friend to bring me two other colours back from the US but she was unable to find them in my size.

They are also OOS online otherwise I could ask DF to order them for me and have them sent to his address.

libertychick · 16/12/2014 08:40

pm Linus

Hope you got things sorted last night novice. What about cufflinks - bit boring but like earrings for women you can never really have enough!

LinusDKD · 16/12/2014 09:50

Pm lib!

shopafrolic · 16/12/2014 13:27

DS did his nativity this morning, a cuter sleepy sheep has not been seen
I am now sat in Carluccios having a solo lunch as he has a party at school and I don't pick up until 3.15. Just bought a couple of bits in the whistles sale including a men's slouchy jumper in charcoal which I love

shopafrolic · 16/12/2014 13:31

I've pinned but can't link from phone

Drywhiteplease · 16/12/2014 13:32

Xmas Grin My man jumper sweatshirt
shopafrolic · 16/12/2014 17:49

It's oh so quiet.....shhhhh, shhhhh.... It's oh so still.......shhhh, shhhhh.

I'm all alone...........

Ujjayi · 16/12/2014 18:03

Ladies, I need to gatecrash your thread to ask a question that I dare not ask on the board...you'll see why! Also apologies for my neediness here Grin. I am rather anxious about the situation!

So DH has been unusually heavy with hints about my christmas gift this year. He is clearly very pleased with himself Grin. He keeps telling me it is a "classic" item which I have coveted for many years. I was trying to guess & he went a bit pink & smiled when I suggested a Chanel 2.55...

Now, we are having a shopping, lunching & generally fab day together tomorrow. DH now tells me he has his doubts about his choice of gift & wants to take me to the store to get my opinion because "this is an expensive, no refund item".

So, I have some questions based on my guess: Is a 2.55 as classic as I think or are they a bit naff? Is it a "go with anything" piece? What size would be a good everyday size? If I'm going for this I want to get good cost per wear!

IF I'm right, am I going to feel terribly uncomfortable in a Chanel store? Should I "dress for the occasion" or am I just overthinking this?

To put my discomfort into perspective: DH comes from wealthy family...I am 100% working class stock so this is A Big Deal!!

santamarianovella · 16/12/2014 18:20

Aww shop how sweet, bet you cried!

santamarianovella · 16/12/2014 18:31

Now, ujjayi, do you mean the classic double C clasp? That's the flap, the holy grail , a true classic that will never die,
I prefer the Medium size, can be worn for evening or casual daytime, others prefer the jumbo, but I don't like the size,
Ofcourse I prefer lamb skin with silver hardware or caviar leather with gold hardware, anyone who disagrees is a total nut job.
You don't need to dress for the store, just arrive early, while it's still quiet , can get crazy in the afternoon,
And enjoy Smile , what a lovely present,

LinusDKD · 16/12/2014 18:54

Lol santa!

Yes, I am a total nutjob as I prefer the classic flap bag in caviar leather with silver hardware.

If that is it, what a lovely present Ujjayi! I have been lusting after one for ages and I even have a 2.55 fund but as other lovely things keep catching my eye my fund hasn't really grown recently. Blush

If you are in the UK I don't think you need to dress up to go to the shop.

As someone who grew up on the continent but lived in London for a while, I have always been impressed with how polite and non-judgmental staff have been in luxury brand stores in the UK.

Unlike in some continental stores where they could even make a duchess feel like a piece of riff raff. Hmm

Enjoy your day out with your DH! Sounds like you're going to have a fab time.

Love that charcoal jumper shop! And you must have been so proud of your DS!

shopafrolic · 16/12/2014 18:59

Waves to Ujjayi I have no experience but just wanted to say how lovely and enjoy your time with DH.

libertychick · 16/12/2014 19:24

Oh how exciting ujjayi. I haven't a clue about which one is which but I would say try not to worry about which one is more classic etc and get the one that makes you smile the most when you try it on. Have a lovely day and do report back Smile

OneLittleLady · 16/12/2014 19:40

evening ladies,

Work is almost finished, well my compositions anyway. Just a bit of finishing off to do and then a powerpoint presentation to do over the holidays. Spent five hours in one of the small studios today, am wiped out, especially as I fell in the toilet (not actually in it!) and I think I've broken a couple of toes Xmas Sad still, almost done, the end is near!
