Am going to try Chanel Lumiere Aqua - have heard so many people recommending it. Need to use up existing stuff first, tho, in attempt to achieve streamlined life. Ha ha.

That book shop recommended is good, but hardcore. She doesn't advocate a gentle one in/one out approach. At ALL. Will need to steel myself and set aside some serious time (when no one else is underfoot, needless to say).

shopafrolic · 03/01/2015 12:56

Loved the last episode of Miranda - I cried! Enjoy Dry
Also I didn't follow that book rigidly (at all), but there were some really useful tips. Storing things so you can see them all, clearing out types of stuff all in one go etc. etc.
This book that Blair linked is also v good at helping identify stuff that needs to go.

santamarianovella · 03/01/2015 13:23

I've just started using burberry sheer foundation, and its really good, still use Nars, but the burberry feels lighter.

Big welcome to all you newbies,

liberty, Sad , we were going to see paddington tomorrow, there is a showing here in English, but I don't think I will take dd now, we saw Matilda at Christmas, and she was really questioning why mummy and daddy are mean, and why is the naughty principal so cruel to all kids, so I think no better not to take her then .

I've been trying to persuade dh that we should go and see theory of everything, but he is not keen.

karbea maybe try again later with the manolos? They are stunning, or go and check gianvito Rossi perhaps?

Ds is the same and can't handle any darkness of the Roald Dahl variety. There is a fair bit of meanness in the books, I know it sounds strange, but I even noticed it when I read a bit out loud when we first got them.

I have had to remove one x skinnies due to Rag&Bone purchase on the one in one out theory. But they've only made it to the drawer under the bed. Must try harder! The stella m ones, they are old and too big, but I find it tough just to throw out, should though.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 03/01/2015 14:23

Did anyone watch the BBC adaptation of Roald Dahl's Esio Trot that was on on New year's day? It was the best thing on this christmas imo :) and definitely suitable for young children, though as an adult you can really see the twisted side of Dahl's stories. Still loved it though, James Corden, Dustin Hoffman and Judi Dench - perfect!

Dry I know the feeling, my skin has got really congested over Christmas. It's bad anyway, but really bad atm :( I'm just waiting for a discount code then going to order alpha h liquid gold glycolic acid serum.

My wardrobes are quite small and I'll definitely consider doing some sort of clear out after the style day to make room for all my new purchases.

justasecond · 03/01/2015 14:37

Hope miniLib is feeling better today. I took my older 2 to see it, they and I loved it . I think ds (just turned 4) may have been a little upset/confused in places. We thought it was much better than Annie.
I have tried hundreds of foundations for my pale yellowy skin. The trouble is the best colour match does not always look good I need something to make me look more alive. The best I have found are Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk and Chanel Les Beiges healthy glow which is a sort of tinted moisturiser. I have found that the primer is just as important as it helps the foundation stay on and stops the colour changing throughout the day. Mac Prep n prime v good. I use the spf 50 one in the summer.
Thats a nice jumper Dry will keep an eye out for a longer black one. Me+Em jumpers look lovely but seem to be on the short side in general.

justasecond · 03/01/2015 14:40

That looks interesting Blair do report back if you get it. I have not had any spots at all in ages since using the Bioderma Micellar water before I go to bed but I feel one brewing on my chin today and its not even that time of the month.

santamarianovella · 03/01/2015 14:42

I agree marsha, she was really upset with the scene where the principal garbed one girl's pigtails and started swinging her around while still holding her pigtails, dss and I found it funny, but dd kept saying I don't want that happening to me! She watched madeline in the summer, and she loved it,and we bought some books which she loves, I think it was too much for her age.

I really want this skirt,

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 03/01/2015 14:53

I've ordered it justa, after reading that alpha h never gets discounted. I already use the bioderma micellar water, the one for greasy skin. My skin is pretty much the worst it's been in my life (adult acne :() and I'm desperate for it to be nice for my wedding. Anyway, I'll report back once I start using the serum!

Lovely skirt santa. I really liked Matilda, bless your DD! Although I enjoyed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory more, it was funnier.

justasecond · 03/01/2015 14:55

Thats a lovely skirt santa would look great on you.

santamarianovella · 03/01/2015 14:57

Loads of good stuff at mytheresa love these

Can't believe this is still available , stunning,

justasecond · 03/01/2015 15:00

Have you been to the docs about that Blair ? dsis had adult acne a while ago and she was given something called dalacin (I think) which really helped. She has lovely skin now alhough I she uses ££ Sisley skincare stuff.

muddlingalongquitenicely · 03/01/2015 15:03

Hair and brows done now sitting having a very late lunch with hubby.

Alsoflamingo · 03/01/2015 15:05

Agree Shop about the book having useful tips. I am going to start with my underwear drawers on the basis that it can't be that hard to be strong in that department…..

And love that skirt SantaMaria. Gorgeous. I have a couple of quite similar ones, but sometimes worry that mini is a bit much at my - ahem - advancing age. Mid 40s. What do people think? Actually I tend to take the view that they are fine if one still has decent legs and wears with opaques and flat shoes/boots, but sometimes wonder if I am deluding myself.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 03/01/2015 15:09

Sounds lovely muddling!

justa yes, I've had antibiotics in the past, which worked the first time and not the second. I am on some other stuff at the moment but it's been a month and seems to be getting worse before better. But I have been boozing it up and eating crap over Christmas which doesn't help. Blush

Those Tod's boots are to die for!

Stokey · 03/01/2015 15:15

Has anyone seen that Outnumbered where the head lectures the very precocious little girl on Matilda? She basically blames Roald Dahl for lauding mischief and making all adults evil, it's very funny.

My Petty's have arrived, they fit but am now wondering if I would prefer biker boots or something more edgy... Oh dilemmas.

Love that skirt Santa.

I was looking at the Me + Em sale yesterday Justa. Considering buying a top but hard to tell if the colours are wintery.

MarshaBrady · 03/01/2015 15:30

I'm out somewhere which is always child free and is not today. I can't tell you how this vexes me Grin. The people here are being lovely about it though champers topped up

I am wearing Marant check shirt and Stella stonewash

My other ny res is to wear my Marant oversize coat again. I saw someone wear one in Berlin and it really looked awesome.

Alsoflamingo · 03/01/2015 15:32

So far my only sale purchases have been on the Me & Em sale…. Love their stuff. Actually went for quite summery stuff as biggest discounts, but look forward to enjoying them in a few months…. After some OTK boots. Anyone have any ideas? Loved the Tod's boots, but thinking slightly longer and maybe suede….. Hmmm.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 03/01/2015 15:44

Look Fantastic have despatched the serum already - wow!

Also I think the holy grail of OTK boots is Stuart Weitzman/Russell & Bromley, but I've also read good things about ones from Dune.

That's a shame Marsha but the champagne will make it all ok Grin

justasecond · 03/01/2015 15:44

Hope it improves soon Blair
Stokey what colour did you get? I agree they are not the most exciting boot but are a good wardrobe staple. Which top were you thinking of from Me+em? I ordered this www.meandem.com/twist-neck-top-peacock not good on me at all but a friend I recommended it to loves it.

justasecond · 03/01/2015 15:46

That was a lovely coat Marsha you should defo wear it again.

Drywhiteplease · 03/01/2015 16:08

Santa love the D and G tweed skirt. It's my fav style, so flattering. Also I'm in denial about being in my late [sob] 40s and wear my shorter skirts 19", which at 5.3" just is just above my knee. I really think it has nothing with age, but more to do with your look. I'm fairly conservative. I don't see why a woman my age with great pins couldn't go shorter, but if her general look is more modern.
The whole "age appropriate" thing is tricky though. There's such a fine line between mutton and frump at my age.

muddlingalongquitenicely · 03/01/2015 16:10

Love that top i always wonder if it would look ok with my ample chest as i have lots of problems with tops :(

Drywhiteplease · 03/01/2015 16:26

Does anyone have these jeans? If so how is the fit compared to the Jimmies? I don't like ankle clenching skinnies.
