I was looking in boots at the smashbox primer set think it was reduced at the time but the shelves were empty so will keep my eyes open hoping to get to the bullring so have a few places to visit Grin

Karbea · 02/01/2015 21:59

Make up is definitely on my to do list for this year, it doesn't matter how much I put on I look like I've none on. I'm getting all my little veins zapped after the botox and then hopefully I'll have a nice base.

libertychick · 02/01/2015 22:15

I have been saying things like that shop. She has settled now. I am a fucking idiot as I know what she is like and I should have known better. We have a birthday party for one of her friends tomorrow so hopefully that will provide enough distraction to get her over it.

shopafrolic · 02/01/2015 22:44

Bless her - hope the party is a good distraction.
QueenC did you watch Mapp & Lucia on BBC1? I keep thinking how much a lot of Lucia's wardrobe (Anna Chancellor) would suit you.

sleepwhenidie · 02/01/2015 23:34

Where are you Flamingo? I might know someone who can Ebay stuff on your behalf. (Karbea too if interested). PM me Smile. My wardrobe size sounds similar to Shop's.... I think Novice is conspicuous in her absence in this particular conversation Grin

We saw Paddington yesterday. Two 4 yo's in group loved the funny bits but didn't really get the taxidermy etc. rest of us loved it and the house is just round the corner from is so it was fun seeing that and the nearby identifiable locations Smile.

Topazandpearl · 02/01/2015 23:37

If you like the Smashbox primer this is a cheaper alternative! I first read about it on another thread and I find it really good. Grin
I am loving Mapp &Lucia shop and love Mapp's wardrobe. I have one left for when I have the house to myself.

Drywhiteplease · 03/01/2015 00:48

Gosh lib I've just googled gastritis and am a bit Shock. Have had all of those symptoms off and on for years Sad just thought it was indigestion caroused by wine, spicy food, hot drinks, 100mph lifestyle.......need to lay off all of that for a bit I think. Tonight's pulled pork might have sent me over the edge anyway........need to detox.
Shop you are amazing and disciplined with your wardrobe.
Fedup like you I have to watch foundation, am currently liking the No7 protect and perfect for younger looking skin. Nice and light but great coverage too.

Amber I did all of SATC box sets and films earlier this year, loved it.....enjoy

QueenCardigan · 03/01/2015 08:41

shop just had to google mapp and Lucia and the outfits do indeed look good. May have to watch on catch up.
queen there's always rooms for 2 queens but I am easily confused so maybe you should become qq Grin. I'm already confused by also and flamingo and then realised its the same person!

Am I the only one that hates foundation/bb/tinted moisturiser. I can't bear how it feels or looks so just stick to pressed powder old fashioned.

Just a couple of days of no booze and eating normally instead of like a glutton and I feel so less bloated and fat.

OneLittleLady · 03/01/2015 08:53

QueenC I only like certain foundations, most of them make me feel itchy and uncomfortable. there's only about 3 I don't mind. I don't tend to use powder though as I find it makes me sneeze!

Drywhiteplease · 03/01/2015 09:01

QueenC when you get a few more wrinkles absolutely none here powder is a nightmare, just collects in them and emphasises them.

Water and protein starts today......

Shop had a chuckle when DH sprang out of bed at 7.30 "they're collecting the bottles!!!!!" He "did a Shop" ..... Raced out in pjs and dressing gown and ran after the lorry Grin

Nice one MrDry - bet he didn't look as classy as I did Hmm
Yes QueenC - Also and Flamingo got me too - thought I'd missed another newbie. The outfit I particularly loved for you was a fitted blouse, and wide navy palazzo pants with a long beaded necklace (in episode 2) - for the record I'm not suggesting you should dress like someone from the 1930s on a daily basis! :) It's a v funny series, competitive bitchy women in a polite 1930s village. I often see pics of Anna C and think how much her style would suit you.
In terms of foundations, BB creams etc I am not keen either - you should try Bare Minerals - it is a powder formulation but looks sheer and glowy. It doesn't clump into my wrinkles or go patchy.

muddlingalongquitenicely · 03/01/2015 09:17

Healthy breakfast start to the day, just going to get ready and stare at my wardrobe for inspiration - im another one who could do with a clear out!
Then in to local town for hair cut and eye brow taming.

BrandyAlexander · 03/01/2015 09:26

Morning! Blimey lots happened over the last couple of daysShock

Karbea sorry to hear about your ivf struggles. As you see this thread is sooo much more than about clothes so hope you feel warm and snugly from the big hugs we are all giving you. Thanks

Welcome to Muddling, AlsoFlamingo and again to Queenie That's all the newbies right?Grin

Lib, sorry to hear miniLib didn't like Paddington.i really sympathise. I had thought about taking my dcs but they are both very sensitive. As you know we take them out to the theatre once a month (to see age appropriate stuff). At a performance a few months ago, both of mine burst into huge tears because one character was being mean and wouldn't let the heroine pass down the path.Blush dd also refuses to watch the Disney classics like Cinderella and sleeping beauty because of the mean people. I hope mini Lib is over it today. They do get over these things quickly.

On the primer, foundation debate.... I had my make up professionally done by a MAC make up artist for my wedding. That's when I discovered the benefit of primer. My foundation did not shift at all. I have moved on to nars now, though would highly recommend both. In autumn winter, I use primer and foundation but in spring summer I use nars tinted moisturiser (taught that by another make up artist).

bettykt · 03/01/2015 09:30

Good wardrobe tip Shop I'm going to try that. I've started a one in one out policy. Apart from shoes

Drywhiteplease · 03/01/2015 09:38

Dd told me about a thing she read on FB about wardrobe clear outs . Turn all hangers the wrong way too OCD to do that, it's one of my many niggles and when you wear an item put it back the right way. After a few months you'll see the clothes you wear, get rid of remaining quickly removes clothes from hangers and golds them up

shopafrolic · 03/01/2015 10:03

Do you not READ my posts Dry ?? Grin

BrandyAlexander · 03/01/2015 10:04

So my contribution to the wardrobe debate...

I have a rather ahem, large wardrobe. It's a double sized dressing room a bit like Carrie Bradshaw's closet in the satc film. Err except I have outgrown it and so I am using the fitted wardrobe in one of the spare rooms to house my holiday wardrobe.Blush

However, I do have a rule that I have adhered to the last 20 years which is that each Christmas holiday I go through the wardrobe and if I haven't worn it at least once that year it goes in my charity box or to friends. About 3 years ago, I halved my bag collection. I had some very happy friends.Grin My younger brother (fantastic dresser) taught me this and he did the first 2/3 years with me, bullying me into getting rid of stuff. It does work. I haven't done this holidays cull yet but hoping to do it this weekend. There are about 5 coats that just need to go. Plus some work trouser suits.

Also 2 years ago in January I set myself the challenge of not buying any new shower gels and body lotions. It took me a year to run out of shower gel and about 20 months to run out of body lotion.Blush

I am currently going through the same challenge with perfumes, shampoos and totally unrelated....candles. I stopped wearing perfume in the baby years, especially as i breastfed each child for about 15 months. However I stopped breast feeding 2 years ago but had just got out of the habit. It's been lovely wearing perfume every day for the last 6 months. I think that will take me 2 years.Blush

Sorry 2 long posts!

QueenCardigan · 03/01/2015 10:26

Rushes to be first in the queue for novices wardrobe cull Grin

Our journalist stalker is at it again....in the Saturday times magazine there's a journo shopping for kids clothes for herself starting in gap for jeans!

When my bobbi brown stuff runs out I may try bare minerals. I'm fairly lucky in the wrinkle front as I think I've inherited my mums good skin genes.

LinusDKD · 03/01/2015 10:49

Second in line for the novice wardrobe cull! I can squeeze into your clothes.

I really need to get rid of lots of stuff but I think I am a hoarder at heart so I hope the book shop recommended will help.

dry your DH is funny!

We have just taken down all the Christmas decorations and brought the tree to the recycling centre. Sad

I don't often wear foundation but I do rate Chanel Vitalumière Aqua (just put it on with my fingers and it smells gorgeous) and the Nars tinted moisturisers.

sleepwhenidie · 03/01/2015 10:53

I always hated foundation until I discovered Chanel Lumiere Aqua too Linus, I believe Amber is also a fan, fabulous stuff.

AmberNectarine · 03/01/2015 11:06

Must be someone else with the Chanel, I am WEDDED to my Bobbi Brown skin foundation. It's the only one that exactly matches my peculiar yellowy white skin tone.

OneLittleLady · 03/01/2015 11:08

I can't use bobbi Brown foundation, it's much too yellow for me. I have the same problem with almost all 'budget' foundations too. Pink toned is what I need

Right, that's one assignment ready to be handed in! Only one more to finish mixing down and to get burned to disc along with the technical report then it's just two exams and a presentation to get through!
