Hi all :) lovely posts on here last night, really sums up the spirit of MNV and a nice start to 2015. Hopefully it will be a great year for everyone Flowers

Just wanted to say there's 20% off everything at the outnet today with HELLO2015. Annoyingly I placed an order the other day and I don't think it's worth re-ordering because I'd have to pay the shipping twice - for these to save my feet on nights out.

QueenC definitely agree re salads, if I'm trying to be healthy in the winter months it has to be soup. I can't associate salad with winter! Really impressed with your dedication to staying off the sugar, I wish I could but I live with a sugar fiend.

Following you muddling :)

Karbea · 02/01/2015 10:57

Thank you all it's no nice to be made to feel welcome!
Our last Ivf was over a year ago (actually very nearly 2) so I'm used to the outcome of all of that now. But I guess the feelings are deep rooted ever if you don't actually realise it, anyway! Onwards and upwards!

Today we are popping into London to change my shoes and belt, might look at the pistols. I guess regardless of what hoc says black shoes/boots will always be ok?

Dh is out with the dogs at the mo, so I need to jump in the shower.

bettykt · 02/01/2015 11:05

Just started following you Muddling

For the last week or so I've been tracking what I eat on MFP - wow! I know it has been Christmas but still. I definitely need to move more. Wanted to go to Insanity at the gym but am feeling a bit rough again. Sipping Berrocca to give me a bit of oomph.

No S&B b news here. Just waiting for my Jcrew order to arrive and am waiting for a Boden code to order some trousers for work.

Shop not really sure what I'm doing today, probably out on bikes with dc or chasing them round the park on their scooters.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 02/01/2015 11:41

Karbea It took me a while but I finally decided that yes, black footwear is always ok regardless of what HoC try to tell you. For one thing, I'm not wearing coloured tights forevermore! It just means I will be wearing navy with black long after it's become a faux pas again Hmm

I don't own any black casual footwear though. Tan pistols, teal trainers, etc.

Karbea · 02/01/2015 11:55

Ummm I definitely couldn't wear coloured tights, it's either black, nearly black (at a push) or nude.
Umm I'm going to hold off the pistols then, but will need to sort out the return of the shoes.

justasecond · 02/01/2015 13:25

Some very wise posts.
Flowers for Karbea hope 2015 is better. Prob best to wait until your colour analysis before you buy anything although are black shoes not ok on everyone as they are so far from the face?
Queen am super impressed with your year without sugar. DH gave up 3 months ago after I threatened him with no sex ever again He has always been a sugar junkie but then I was away for a few weeks and came back to find treats everywhere and the freezer full of nothing but ice cream. His face was double its normal size from the amount of sugar he was putting away. He found the cold turkey part really hard but got through it by eating nuts instead. He says he now has no cravings for sugar at all.
Love the hat santa
shop all black sounds good.
Hello Muddling
Betty hadn't heard of Spiral but will def be checking it out s I love gregory Fitoussi Wink
Anyway catch you all later

justasecond · 02/01/2015 13:29

Quick q
I have worn my new balance trainers loads but they are getting bit worn out now. What could I replace with? are NB a bit passe now?

santamarianovella · 02/01/2015 15:00

linus, some businesses won't open till 5th, I think its stranded at sort facility and won't be shipped till mon, not all businesses are as quick as NAP in processing and shipping,

How was after Jimmy choo youth bikers? Have seen some %30 off, still £££ but they are oh so worth it.

santamarianovella · 02/01/2015 15:02

justa sorry no help ,the whole NB trend didn't appeal to me.

QueenCardigan · 02/01/2015 15:06

justa I eat a lot of nuts too especially walnuts. With Greek yogurt. Yum. Within the first month I'd dropped a jeans size and although my jeans feel tight now it's round my middle which is where all the booze and carbs go. The sugar fell off my hips.

Not sure about trainers. Aren't Stan smiths popular now or are they passe?

Stokey · 02/01/2015 15:25

I was going to suggest Stan Smiths too QueenC. I bought some Puma leather high tops a few months ago and they've been great.

Hi Muddling, I'm also 40 and 5 ft3 Smile

I missed all the chat last night but since stopping work a couple of months ago, I've been trying not to fall into jeans every day. I try and wear a skirt or dress at least three times a week, normally a mini or tube so still have the movement to play with the kids on the floor. But like Shop heels are the things that have really not translated into my new lifestyle.

Phew, long post. Anyway, sitting on the sofa with the Dds watching Sound of Music.... "I am 16 going on 17 innocent as a rose" , perfect afternoon Grin

Fedupnagging · 02/01/2015 16:06

Well done Queen and Marsha going cold turkey on the sugar. Am psyching myself up to giving it a go!

Went to Westfield yesterday whilst ds3 was at football but didn't buy anything. I really wanted to get some heatech from uniglo but by the time we had fought our way to the store, then ploughed through the other customers, I lost the urge so turned around and stalked out! Stroppy, moi?

Have spent most of the day clearing out the study. It is full of dh's junk - dh is such a hoarder, it drives me nuts and a lot of stuff he just moved from the study to our equally full loft Hmm.

Alsoflamingo · 02/01/2015 17:31

Hi everyone. Can I join, pls? I am determined to get my sh*t together in 2015. Have a wardrobe STUFFED with things I never wear. Open plan wardrobe too - so things get dusty over time (although can't do much about that I suppose).

Any tips on culling? I know in theory one is supposed to chuck anything one hasn't worn for 6 months blah blah, but I have 'shopped my wardrobe' on many an occasion and found all sorts of treasures so have been glad I hadn't chucked them out. Plus find my size fluctuates (from 8/10 when all is hunky dory, 10/12 most of the time and 12/14 when everything has gone massively pear-shaped).

FOR INSTANCE have loads of shoes I never wear, but are lovely. Jimmy Choos etc. Sky high heels. Gorgeous. Should I a) force myself to wear them and suck up the pain, b) flog them on ebay, or c) donate them to charity. OR sodding D which is the most likely - do NOTHING for another year…… Argh!

As you can see - I am a tragic case. Please help me!

Alsoflamingo · 02/01/2015 17:34

Oh - and also (and then I promise to go away for a bit), have loads of dresses that I love. BUT, can't be doing bare legs or (shudder) flesh coloured tights. Opaques don't always look good - depends on the dress. Again, what to do?? Is there an argument for embracing/reclaiming the sheer tight? [runs screaming from own keyboard…]

MarshaBrady · 02/01/2015 17:37

Also a quickie yes! Embrace the sheer. Wolford 15 to 30 denier is good. Nearly black is my favourite.

And welcome. Back later to ponder your Choo dilemma. Definitely stick around

MarshaBrady · 02/01/2015 17:51

Saint Laurent loves the sheer

MarshaBrady · 02/01/2015 17:57

The brand that is

I am woeful at skirts right now. I can't be bothered with tights in the day.

Need to start wearing that Filippa K navy pencil skirt I got in the Matches sample sale.

libertychick · 02/01/2015 18:04

stokey I should have done Sound of Music on the couch today. Instead I took DD (4) to Paddington as her birthday ahem treat. She was not happy. At one point when Paddington was walking down the street in the rain she was sobbing he is so lonely. Where is hs Mum?'. Had to take her out a few times.

Fedup your post made me laugh. I walk out of shops in a strop when they are too busy too. Cause you know, they should realise I am there and put some crowd control in place Smile

Welcome also. I like sheers. Esp with below knee skirts and dresses. Above knee I always go opaque. For wardrobe clear out could you hire a personal shopper type person to go through it with you or a friend with a good eye?

Karbea · 02/01/2015 18:06

Woe is me, liberty didn't have the shoes in a 35.5, the 35s were a little too tight, so we got a refund :(
They did have those lovely Valentino kitten heel boots but dh didn't like the studs so will have to buy them when he's not with me.
So I have even less things than I did this morning :/
Mind you at least if hoc lady says no black I won't be mega upset.

shopafrolic · 02/01/2015 18:15

New Year lots of newbies - love it. Welcome Also when I have more time later I will try and recall the wardrobe edit keepers and throwers that I had but long and the short. If it doesn't fit your lifestyle, and that lifestyle isn't likely to change in the next 2-3 years then get rid. Unless items are TRUE classics e.g. tux jacket, slim leg black trousers, cashmere polo neck, pencil skirt, classic courts then styles will change and older stuff is unlikely to work.
I got rid of my old designer shoes / bags etc that I don't wear anymore, sold on EBay and used the money to buy things I love now.
The wardrobe section of this book might be of use to you.
Stick around. :)

Alsoflamingo · 02/01/2015 18:37

Thank you everyone for the warm welcomes. Need to mull the whole sheer issue. It's not just getting my head around the look, it's also the idea of trying to wash the sodding things (by hand? urgh!) without putting ladders in them etc. Hmm. Will give it some thought

And will click on that link, Shopafrolic as suspect it will be useful. Liberty you are right - I probably should just bite the bullet and pay someone to go through it with me….. So many bags too.

Anyone got any good/different gym wear tips? So fed up with the usual Sweaty Betty offerings and want to try to inspire myself to get into shape. Some of the stuff on Net-a-porter is nice, but crazy prices IMHO. Don't have the spending power I used to have before DCs, sadly.

Will be sticking around like glue….

QueenQueenie · 02/01/2015 18:48

Hi again stylistas,
Still waiting for the leather trousers to arrive but distracted myself with buying this rather useful dress in the Cos sale.
I too would like to hang around please. Definitely need help in buying less and more wisely, quality not quantity etc etc.

muddlingalongquitenicely · 02/01/2015 18:49

Evening everyone, writing myself a shopping/to do list for the weekend.
Really need an easy to apply light foundation and a good nude nail varnish if anyone has any suggested brands. Im hopeless asking for samples and need to get more assertive with make up counters in general.

Drywhiteplease · 02/01/2015 18:50

I'm on my way back from a day at the seaside!!! Cold! But sunny. Couldn't face fish and chips though!
Hello Also .... I'm no use to you, I just built bigger wardrobes!!! eBay is an excellent way of getting rid of stuff and paying for new
Re legs, I'm a fan of opaques with some dresses, leg paint Shock and grit otherwise.
Karbea this thread claims to be about fashion but is in fact much more than that . Smile

Think fizz has hurting stomach Sad some whites give me horrendous heart burn, wondering whether champ does the same.

OP posts:
sleepwhenidie · 02/01/2015 18:58

Wow you guys can chat a lot, I keep falling so far behind!

Karbea Flowers for you, sorry about the ivf.

Fedup your strop in Uniqlo made me Grin - online orders from there arrive v quickly Wink

Also I also ebayed some jimmy Choi's and louboutins that were simply too high and uncomfortable to wear. Put the funds towards lovely new things. Re fitness wear, have a look at Daisy Fitness - I really like it for the odd unusual pair of capris. Then I get racer back tops from H&M or sports sites like SportsDirect or wiggle - I love under armour stuff too and unless I'm doing yoga (stroppy crop top) then I am always in a shock absorber Run bra. I have also bought a few things from Fabletics, nice designs and reasonable quality and cheap, especially first outfit, but the subscription system is a PITA, you have to remember to opt out of buying an outfit each month if you don't want one, otherwise they charge £40ish to your card and give you store credit Hmm.
