shop looking forward to hearing the verdict on your buys.

I am really excited about the style day! My mum's getting her colours done first, then my sis and I are having the style day after. I think I will 100% be partly Classic but have no clue about the other bit of my diagnosis. Probably not Natural as I like fitted clothes, or Ingenue because I don't wear girly stuff. I could be completely ignorant though!

mara NY plans sound lovely.

Stokey sorry to read about your sudden wine issues. I wonder if there's anything your GP can do, tests or something?

QueenCardigan · 29/12/2014 21:32

How exciting blair. I loved the style day so much.

We're going to friends-there will be 8 adults and 12 kids altogether. Starting early evening with food and fizz and will see what happens and how long the kids can last....

Drywhiteplease · 29/12/2014 21:52

Blair will be very interested to hear your diagnosis. You're definitely not autumn that's for sure.

Nearly done with House of Cards. Totally compulsive. I think Claire needs to have a HOC style day.....nice wardrobe but she really needs to inject some colour Grin

What will every one be wearing NYE?

Drywhiteplease · 29/12/2014 21:54

Oh and linus with family I think it's always lovely to see them and say hello and it's always lovely to say goodbye and get back home too Smile and a big fat hug for you

Karbea · 29/12/2014 22:12

Just been looking at my local hoc ladies again, maybe I should just bite the bullet and get my colours done.
It really would be stupid to get an expensive black blazer and then to be told black really isn't me.
The only thing that concerns me is i think the ladies look a bit older like hyacinth bucket/Marjorie Dawes. but then I am 41 so maybe I need to stop thinking I look 25 :/

Karbea · 29/12/2014 22:16

I think I've asked this before but can't remember the answer, do you think it's best to have the colour analysis done before you change hair colour, or change hair first?

maradesbois · 29/12/2014 22:21

Blair both your NYE plans and style day sound fab. Can't wait to hear the diagnosis.

Karbea maybe you should try style day or similar if you want to renew your wardrobe?

Betty we loved Paddington too. Ds got a book for Christmas and have already read it at least 5 times per day ever since.

Linus hugs. Sometimes it's lovely to get back to normal life after holiday times. I cannot wait to be on my own with my immediate family and friends for NY.

Shop also looking forward to hearing your verdict on matches order and decision re 5050s.

My quest for the right down jacket continues. Have ruled out Canada Goose as not smart enough plus don't like the big arm badge thing. Tried on a lovely Moncler one plus an Italian brand can't remember name of. C something. Will try and find and revert with links. Also eyeing a belstaff parka but think swayed by huge discount rather than love. Also still considering MaxMara cube but the woman that runs the store here is really not nice and am loath to give her business.

maradesbois · 29/12/2014 22:23

Also meant to say welcome to Queenie and her leather trousers!

maradesbois · 29/12/2014 22:38

this is the Moncler one. It was really nice on, loved the fit. There is a shorter version too but the length looked all wrong on.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 29/12/2014 22:40

Dry it's the style day I'm having - you know like Amber is dramatic gamine, QueenC is ingenue natural... I did colours 2 years ago and I'm a spring.

Karbea I would definitely do the colours day before changing hair, just in case it turns out to be an expensive mistake. I also think it's good to have time in between the colour day and style day as otherwise it's information overload. Sounds like either would be good for you though! Also take the consultants with a pinch of salt, some of them do look a bit frumpy, but they are all trained the same so you can take or leave what else they say.

Mine told me firmly to only put eyeliner on the outside half of my eye, as though it was a rule, I was like ooooookay

Yes links please mara... sometimes I feel like I'm the only person still wearing wool coats instead of cosy down ones.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 29/12/2014 22:41

X post, that is gorgeous, I love the belted ones. Nice colour for you too.

QueenCardigan · 30/12/2014 07:49

That looks good mara.
blair I'm trying to wear my wool coat more as I'd got into the habit of wearing my Barbour or North face which are absolutely essential on really cold or wet school runs but otherwise a wool coat is fine.
karbea I travelled to visit my hoc consultant as the local one looked a lot older although not as scary as some of them look. I wanted someone with a similar age/lifestyle as its all very well being advised to wear 10 thousand accessories and make up every day but it doesn't always fit in with 3 dc.

BrandyAlexander · 30/12/2014 10:23

Morning Voguettes! its cold!! left my warm toasty house for a 9am hair appointment. brrr. is anyone out running today?Shock

Blair, I look forward to hearing about your style day.

fedup, hope you're doing well. Thanks

karbea, I wouldn't buy the jcrew jacket yet because the stock will turnover in a few weeks and then they might have some nicer ones.

shopafrolic · 30/12/2014 10:48

Karbea if you're considering getting your colours done then definitely do it before you buy any more clothes - I made some very expensive mistakes :(
I missed the bin lorry again!!! I am rubbish Grin

libertychick · 30/12/2014 10:58

Morning, if anyone is out running huge respect. It is so cold. I walked part of the way to work.

So peaceful in the office today, bliss. It's great to have proper thinking time.

I have ordered a few bits and pieces from M&S and HoF. Will link if any good. I am on a mission to find a navy or dark blue skirt for work (again). I did a big wardrobe cull yesterday and this is one of the major gaps. I have made a list of work items and I'm going to write down outfits for a month and see what's most useful and what is missing. I think I need more accessories and I need some colour. About 80% of what I wear to work is black, grey or navy (imagine the fallout if I did a HoC colour day and I was diagnosed as an autumn) Smile. I think a style day would help me though.

Hope everyone who has been ill is feeling better. I am going to a friends house after work for a wine and nibbles evening with a large group of female work colleagues, should be fun. Outfit is Monsoon dress, black opaques, black Dune brogues and CdC miltary style coat. Navy cable knit scarf for warmth and Brora wristwarmers.

BrandyAlexander · 30/12/2014 11:00

humph! I still don't think there were mistakes. Shop, you have looked a total hottie every time I have seen you or a pic of youWink

libertychick · 30/12/2014 11:01

Actually, since I am thinking accessories....any thoughts or suggestions for items to wear with the Monsoon dress linked again here. TIA Smile

libertychick · 30/12/2014 11:05

I agree with novice. You always looked amazing Shop. I am fairly sure I am a winter but I sometimes wear Autumn type colours and just add more slap to brighten up my face.

I can't believe you missed the bin lorry again - what are you like??? Grin that would drive me nuts

shopafrolic · 30/12/2014 11:16

Novice can you come to my house every day and say that - it all always makes me feel lovely :)
So I've had a try on. The IM shirt is fab, good colour, but it is a slimmer cut than my other one and is slightly too tight across my bust and shoulders. I've ordered the next size up and they will refund me the 10% discount which I got on my original order if I go ahead and keep it.
In contrast the Equipment one is too big Hmm, the colour is good, and the silk is beautiful but I don't love the colour enough to reach for it on a night out so back it goes.
I'm going to see if I can get to a store to try the 5050s in the next few days....

shopafrolic · 30/12/2014 11:16

Driven me nuts too Liberty - the boot of my car is now full of bin bags and I'm off to the dump - the glamour

bettykt · 30/12/2014 12:16

Liberty no advice re: accessories, I don't wear them much, I tried a statement necklace and it wasn't me, I just like cuffs.

Dry you overtook me at HOC, I'm still half way through series 2, what are you watching now/next?

Blair I'm like QueenC I wear my NF Arctic Parka for the school run and my wool coats at the weekends, although it's been quite cold recently and have worn my NF a bit more. Btw you're NYE sounds fab, some serious cocktail drinking taking place.

Karbea if you know what colours suit perhaps you go straight for the style day.

Mara Moncler's are lovely, I'd love a short black one.

Ah well I've caved in to the sales and to check shirts, sheep, just ordered this JCrew plaid shirt and I also ordered these JCrew Dannie pants in black although reading from the reviews I should have sized up perhaps.

QueenCardigan · 30/12/2014 13:09

shop I've been to the dump today as we had so much cardboard ( I took full advantage of my amazon prime trial and ordered loads) that there's no way they'd take it all at the kerbside collection. Also been for a run but eaten my body weight in Brie .

shop I was about to say the same as novice that I don't think that your old clothes are mistakes. I always thought you looked great. Since having my colours done I often now look at people and think either great colour on you or think no, that totally dominates you etc. And I promise you that I never thought that your autumn colours were wrong. I think sometimes you can get away with veering into other seasons although for me the one season that truly would look hideous is autumn but I reckon there's a lot I could do from summer and the cooler end of spring. Are your old shirts so wrong even with a winter lipstick?

karbea if getting colours done is something you're considering then go for it sooner rather than later. I think if you're wondering about it then its a case of when not if you get it done. With HOC though I don't think you can do a style day without a colour session.

Drywhiteplease · 30/12/2014 17:28

I've been cleaning since 1.30 Xmas Shock done the whole house. Feel like sealing the house up with crime scene tape and not letting anyone apart from me in!!!!! My reward is the last 2 episodes of HoC ....but then I discovered the sodding ironing! Xmas Sad.....having a sit down, cuppa, slice of Christmas cake and a quick MNV catch up in my gleaming kitchen.

Betty haven't a clue...maybe Homeland next, love Damian Lewis the sexy beast NetFlix is addictive because the episodes just keep coming and before you know it it's past midnight! I have to say I don't think I'll run for PM imagine that all to back stabby for me Grin

Yup...it's cold. The frost/snow hasn't melted since Boxing Day! But I did open the bifolding today as I was working up a sweat in the kitchen DH not involved Grin

Sleep your purple lips made me laugh!!!! I'm a real lipstick fan old lady can't get on with lipgloss, too mess, too stick, gets in my hair when it's windy, makes me look dead......not for me. Love a decent matte lip stain variety because I'm lazy and hate reapplying, or worse still having that hideous outline left at the end of the evening .......yuck!!!!!

Shop you and the bin lorry....perhaps set a reminder on your phone. But I suspect after seeing you in your nightie/trainers combo last week they came late in the hope you'd do it againGrin

Boden Ebay camel skirt arrived.....perfect but mahoooooosive which is possibly why it was on Ebay&

MarshaBrady · 30/12/2014 17:45

I did two things today - went for a run and bought some rag&bone skinnies from Liberty, here.

Betty those J Crew things are both fab.

Back later to catch up.

LinusDKD · 30/12/2014 18:13

Evening!

marsha I haven't been for a run for ages and I really miss it. Maybe I'll go tomorrow as DH is off work but I hope it's not too icy.

I did buy a new longsleeved running tee at Nike when I was home so I am looking forward to wearing it.

I might have ordered a Brunello Cucinelli grey cashmere jumper today. I blame santa as usual

It was 50% off but still £££, I just hope it's the perfect grey jumper I have been looking for all winter.

So far it's my only sales purchase but I did have another Rails shirt in my basket but I decided not to buy it

I bought a Diptyque Baies candle last week and I just opened it today and the smell is incredible! I don't even have to light it, it already fills the room with its lovely scent.

DH bought a eucalyptus one for his study and loves it.
