didireally that bag d be fine. I've only really ever bought from tkmaxx and john Lewis concessions (and charities!) for bags. Currently using a vintagey leather rucksack!
Sorry yours got taken btw. Sad
Mostly rocking a dull look just now! Though brightened it up with a 'stand out' (can't recall brand!). chunky lip pencil for a day or two but not even doin that today! Navy aquascutum fine knit crew neck, skinnies and didrikson grey coat mostly!
I'd like to meet up probably though may chicken out Wink

didireallysaythat · 22/11/2014 19:52

See on my style day I was told unstructured bags only. But I'm ignoring that !

I quite like plain bags - I realise I've used the bag I lost for 18 months (including a couple of weddings and trips abroad) so the cost averages out OK I think. I've only got three bags (well two now) so I think I can almost justify it.

Can anyway recommend a gloss or lipstick about the HoC crystal pink shade I could get on the high Street ?

carrie74 · 22/11/2014 22:08

I popped into H&M today and tried the pull on pleather leggings. I'm not usually one to prescribe clothes to ages, but OMG, I've never felt so old. Awful. And very hot.

Lots of J Brand jeans in TK Maxx though if anyone's popping into one and needs new jeans. All at £50. Bargain.

I think I'm going to exchange the Radley Grosvenow medium satchel and get the cross body and grab handle version instead. I prefer the style of the satchel bag, but I know it being a shoulder bag only is going to irritate me too much (my shoulders are narrow and sloping, so I'm forever hitching bags up).

didi what a bastard for someone stealing your bag! Grrr. I think if you know it worked for you, then buying the same again is a good idea. I find so many bags don't quite work, so seize on ones that do.

MrPop · 23/11/2014 11:25

DidI what was your style 'diagnosis'? Are you pleased with it?

Sorry not sure what colour the HOC one is but I like raspberry pie, a revlon lip butter. It is v pink!

I am still not wearing much lipstick - my lips are really dry in this cold weather so just need to wear lip balm as much as possible.

Fooogle I am also wearing mainly dark and neutral colours now. I quite liked my dark outfit the other day, brightened up with a pink bobble hat.

I found a few winter colours in the whistles sale - dark emerald knit and ice blue sweat - I will report back.

Carrie shame about the pleather leggings as they seemed to be getting good reviews.

I was wearing my leather 'joggers' yesterday - I like them though had to ignore DH's views on them Grin

MrPop · 23/11/2014 13:27

Oh and I went for the coal seasalt coat as I thought the blue hood would be more versatile than pink. Will let you know if I like it when it arrives.

NeitherHereOrThere · 23/11/2014 17:16

Good choice Mr Pop ;)

Was in a rush leaving the house this morning and forgot lipstick - I looked ill as my lips are pretty pale in their natural state.

didireallysaythat · 23/11/2014 21:15

mrpop I'm a natural romantic. Doesn't fit in with my wardrobe of jeans and cons though. Some bits are easy - low neck lines OK, but I always get complements with a sleeveless polo neck I wear but now I'm not allowed polo necks or high necks at all. Plus only boot cuts (I'm so hippy I feel very wide in boot cuts) and really I should stick to longer skirts (which of course I have none of, just minis to wear over black leggings with boots). I didn't ask about foofy Lacey things (I hope they are a no no) but soft unstructured bags with belts below my waist only (help me!). Some bits were helpful (no double breasts, no shoulder pads) but I'm none the wiser when I look online at clothes as to what will suit. So no, not particularly useful. And if you want a giggle I can send you the document about pattern fabrics. Like some kind of 60-70 nightmare.

I may just order the bag but first I need a wallet. Buying one of these online seems hard as it's one of the few things you really do need to have in your hand to try out....

QueenCardigan · 23/11/2014 21:55

Hi winters. I met up with some of the ladies from the vogue thread last night. It was great fun. I wore a black dress that is perfect style wise for me.

carrie which tk maxx? City centre or retail park?

carrie74 · 24/11/2014 09:28

Was Bath queenc. Sounds like a lovely evening with the MNVers!

didi, I'm so fussy about wallets, I'd need to see one in the flesh too. Mines a Mulberry but years old, bought from outlet just before mulberry exploded as the wag's bag of choice. It's still perfect though so was worth the £100 or whatever I felt guilty paying at the time!!

fooogle · 24/11/2014 10:28

didireally, Style day sounds perplexing! Maybe I'll hold off a bit longer!
Lipsticks that are like HOC ones, I have MAC (is that highstreet?) one called Girl about town I think. Its pretty much the same as HOC fuchsia pink (62? is that the no.?). Also have one called Flamboyant or something that is a sheer but buildable but bright pink? (can't find it though so it may be discon'). Not sure that helps that much!

Today am wearing, GAP black true straight trousers which I had shortened to 7/8ths, black pop socks (ugh), burgundy patent pointy flats, pine turtle neck wool jumper and a silver grey long sleeve t... Trying my 'Standout' lippy again (its Revlon colorburst)...

I need a new wallet too didi but haven't dared yet despite my zip being broken so money keeps falling into bag!

Mrpop did you get any whistles stuff? Can't find them now as mostly sold out Sad

QueenCardigan · 24/11/2014 10:46

Ah carrie that explains it. The Bristol ones are rubbish.

QueenCardigan · 24/11/2014 10:47

I had a wallet from Radley a year ago which is still in perfect condition. If you can bear the dog then they really are worth it.

didireallysaythat · 24/11/2014 22:14

I do like the look of radley purses but the dog puts me off. I really do like un-detailed things if you get what I mean. Wearing my wedding ring is a bit of an effort some days !

QueenCardigan · 25/11/2014 21:47

Really wasn't happy with today's outfit. I was knackered and feeling bleurgh so decided to wear a black top. It felt wrong all day. I love black at night but now I'm getting older it feels too much in the daytime and every time I caught sight of myself I thought I looked really pale.

blodynmawr · 25/11/2014 22:07

Slight newbie as have not posted since about thread 2....

Anyway, wanted to add to the purse discussion and highlight this JL beauty which has green credentials as it is made from recycled leather. Also like the simplicity of the design so will go on my Christmas list once I decide whether I like the blue or pink best. Will need to check out in RL in store too, obvs.
HTH Smile

didireallysaythat · 25/11/2014 22:33

Nice purse ! I'll take a look and see if there's a smaller model - I tend to shove my wallet in my jeans back pocket (I like not having a bag at the weekend - if it won't fit in your pockets you probably don't need it ) at the weekend so probably need a smaller thing.

NowhereNow · 26/11/2014 00:23

Weirdly I am also on the lookout for a new purse as the clasp on my current (purple) one broke off.

Blodynmawr I was admiring that pink Paper Thinks purse just last night. And DidIReally they have both a coin purse and a smaller card holder in the same range Wink

Also, new colours have gone on sale on the Kettlewell site. I've never bought from there before but have ordered a few things to try as it is free delivery & free returns. I'm getting stuff in berry red, vibrant pink & pine green.

mimiasovitch · 26/11/2014 07:52

I saw something on an earlier thread about someone on etsy who made gorgeous bags, possibly custom, and I've lost the will to live scrolling through (though I have refreshed my lipstick knowledge). Can anyone remember who the seller was? I have a hankering for a deep navy, slouchy bag, and I think this guy was in my price range.

MrPop · 26/11/2014 10:35

DidI just wondering if they got your diagnosis right if it seems so at odds with how you like to dress? QueenC and Sorrel (I think) seemed to have lightbulb mmoments where it validated their choices - and made things easier not harder (btw - correct me if I'm wrong, ladies!)

My whistles order came and was sent back:
sweat too cropped and more of a powdery blue.

grren cable lovely colour and so soft but the cable knit really made me look bulky.

NowhereNow · 26/11/2014 11:31

Mimi was it this seller?

www.etsy.com/uk/shop/delacyonline

I think it might have been Sorrel who bought one.

I linked to another Etsy bag seller on a previous thread (but still haven't managed to buy one!). Her stuff is more structured though:

www.etsy.com/uk/shop/TheLeatherStore

SorrelForbes · 26/11/2014 11:36

Yes it was me who bought a bag from the etsy seller (Delacey). I use the bag all the time and the leather is very soft. Great value.

My style day was very useful indeed, a real light bulb moment!!

SorrelForbes · 26/11/2014 11:40

This green bag is lovely but I think the hardware is gold?

fooogle · 26/11/2014 12:51

Mrpop, I really like the idea of cable knit but its a bit weird with the bulkiness isn't it...
Lots of stuff on BrandAlley if anyone is a member (never actually followed through a purchase)? Cool Puffa parka's in winter colours and Jaeger stuff with lots of money off. I am sitting on my hands but filling and emptying my 'basket' as really don't neeeed these things but they look so nice! cheetah textured slim black trousers, sparkly necklace and burgundy leather bag were there.
Today I am wearing, black wideleg high waist trousers, black asda leather boots (suggested by Mrpop), navy and burgundy colour block roll neck... Not sure its entirely working but its warm though neck abit itchy! I am a sensitive flower!

NowhereNow · 26/11/2014 12:53

Yes, most of the bags from that seller have gold hardware & there aren't many winter friendly colours. In the website (rather than etsy) they have this contender with silver hardware:

www.theleatherstoreuk.com/leather-hobo-tote-purple/

But I don't like the style as much as some of the others.

mimiasovitch · 26/11/2014 14:39

I like both of those sellers, but it was delacy I was thinking of. I fancy the Amelie bag. I'm not that bothered about the gold hardware. It's the one thing I've found harder to get on board with, if I'm honest. I definitely don't suit very yellow gold, but nor do I like very white silver, except in summer sunshine. I still think mixed metal fits me best.

Anyway, I'll wait for my style day on Friday and then choose my bag.
