Mom orange boxes are always very much appreciated by me and happily in the comfort zone of my dh who has never done red or turquoise. How do these London sample sales work btw, are they open to everyone or restricted?

Linus homemade chicken Kiev sounds delicious. Have just done a trial run of a nigella potato and parsnip gratin for family weekend away in a couple of weeks. Has star anise in and smells great.

libertychick · 15/11/2014 21:39

Someone is going to have to tell me where the red and turquoise boxes are from Smile

Well done mom on putting the DC ahead of the sample sale. It would have killed me!!

Phew! loooong day, had to take dd to a birthday party, and then go join dh to watch dss play football on the other side of town,

linus chicken Kiev, reminds me of school cafeteria, we used to rush there as they sell out so quick, happy memories Smile on the other hand, dh really gets depressed if I make chicken pot pie, it reminds him of boarding school, its comfort food!!

mara orange boxes can be as expensive as red ones, Wink, but from my experience, you can get enough of red boxes but never from the orange or the black ones with cute white ribbons, Grin
So, links, I bought 2 dresses from vanessa Bruno, while I was in London, this but in cream and this dress I also bought an oversized cardigan,

libertychick · 15/11/2014 21:48

Are the black ones with ribbons Chanel? Please put me out of my misery on the red and turquoise. It's like a foreign language!

Santa great dresses. I particularly like the first one - can see you in it. Very elegant.

liberty red :Cartier ,turquoise :Tiffany
And you got chanel right!

LinusDKD · 15/11/2014 21:50

Red is Cartier and Turquoise is Tiffany & Co.

Gorgeous dresses santa!

LinusDKD · 15/11/2014 21:51

X post santa!

Don't agree on getting enough of the red boxes though. Wink

LinusDKD · 15/11/2014 21:52

Btw, my lovely new bracelet comes in a sludgy green box. Hmm

libertychick · 15/11/2014 21:53

Thanks ladies. I would be happy with any of the above Smile

Santa dh's comfort zone isn't so much about price as to do with him not liking buying jewellery gifts. He says it's because it's personal and has to be chosen by the wearer and he likes to surprise although I think he actually just doesn't like fine jewellery, just watches. Nonetheless I would be very happy were either the red or sludge green to come my way at Christmas time unlikely

maradesbois · 15/11/2014 22:01

Santa lovely dresses btw, glad you had a good trip.

shopafrolic · 15/11/2014 22:26

Liberty the red boxes had me stumped too! I've only ever had turquoise and that was always corporate gifts.

BrandyAlexander · 15/11/2014 23:00

coloured boxes. sigh!Smile I always used to keep the boxes but dh got a Tiffany habit so I ended ditching them. I have kept the other boxes though!

I am hopping mad with dh at the moment. We went to the theatre and I haven't spoken to him since the interval. Angry Not even the thought of what colour box this year's present might come in can cheer me up.Hmm

actually I keep thinking I am not myself. I was doing some onlone banking. my bonus remains totally untouched in my bank account because I have been too busy to spend it. Shock on the other hand Mom's post had me roaring with laughter!

speaking of roaring with laughter, Shop your fb post last night might actually be the funniest thing of 2014!Grin

AmberNectarine · 16/11/2014 07:22

The boxes I like my presents to come in are generally shoe-shaped! Have barely any jewellery as I so rarely wear it. Have my eye on a Tiffany bone cuff this year though.

Went shopping with my DM yesterday. She bought a lovely Michael Kors bag - the triple zip one that's a little like a trio. She got the burgundy which was gorgeous but they also had a lovely silver grey so I think I'll get it as a little birthday present to myself next month. She also got a nice cashmere jumper and some lovely Genetic Denim skinnies. Whereas I bought... A fleece. Hmm, something wrong there. Still, was lovely to spend some time with her.

Then DH and I went to the pub for a few which was fun - I sometimes forget how well we get on, not seeing him Monday - Friday!

shopafrolic · 16/11/2014 09:14

Novice I still have no idea whether Dry / DHDry are speaking to me Blush

maradesbois · 16/11/2014 09:35

Morning all,

Quick question for Linus, what model are your Rails shirts? Have been looking at one with lovely colours but the fit looks more boxy than yours. Merci!

BrandyAlexander · 16/11/2014 10:00

Shop, I am sure they laughed as much as me!Grin

I am having a fashion panic! I need to be smart casual for the next 4 days. Already experiencing mild panic. I have always done smart dress up well. I now do smart work well. I feel like I am getting more hits than misses on the casual outfits. Smart casual, I can be soooo hit and miss! What's "worse" is that for two of those days I will be with my friend who always gets it right and I shall just be lusting after her and kicking myself!

LinusDKD · 16/11/2014 10:20

mara I think all of mine are the Hunter shirts (maybe one isn't but I'm not sure)

They do one with dolman sleeves which I tried on in NY but looked too boxy on me.

novice killer jeans with a nice jacket for smart casual?

libertychick · 16/11/2014 10:31

Signs of a spoilt middle class child. DD is complaining as there is too much milk and too little froth in her baby chino Grin. Finding it hard to take her concerns seriously...although it has to be said that this particular ratio being wrong is one of my pet hates too.

MarshaBrady · 16/11/2014 10:34

Liberty cute Grin

Novice yes to skinnies, J Crew? Top, jacket and a fab heel?

Had fun last night, and I don't feel too bad, which is good.

MarshaBrady · 16/11/2014 10:37

Santa oh I adore that V Bruno dress, am tempted to scout in the sales.

Mom oh no straight to the heart! I'd have felt the same.

I don't really do jewellery, watch and rings here only, must try harder!

MarshaBrady · 16/11/2014 10:38

But I've got to ask what is sludge green?

LinusDKD · 16/11/2014 10:59

Sludgy green (I didn't know before either)

MN Vogue - Vol. 48
OneLittleLady · 16/11/2014 11:05

morning all.

I must admit to not knowing what a single one of the coloured boxes was! They aren't the kind of thing i know about or have experience of!

Lib your DD sounds funny Grin

novice I'm sure you can put together some great outfits, don't stress over it

waiting on my brother to arrive to put some pictures and lightbulbs up for me. I'm under strict instructions that under no circumstances am I to try and do the lightbulbs myself!

MarshaBrady · 16/11/2014 11:09

Ah Linus gotcha, thanks. I'm glad I didn't post my initial thought - Harrods now Grin

I get too enamoured by other stuff to move into the small box territory. Although admittedly it's meant to be the dh that does. Did I ever mention that the first present he ever bought me was Cluedo Confused. Good job for him he got a way with it.
