necklace is lovely Shop

libertychick · 15/11/2014 10:30

Quick question. How do you all put on foundation? Fingers, sponge, brush? I bought some Elizabeth Arden double wear yesterday. Have been using just tinted moisturiser for ages and wondering how to get the best look with it. SA said brush is best.

OP posts:
santamarianovella · 15/11/2014 10:39

No time for chatting or links or anything but, liberty only use fingers to apply foundation have a look at Mary greenwell videos she is by far the best in my opinion, doesn't use thousands of brushes or products, and mostly uses her fingers to apply makeup even eyeshadow sometimes,

Will catch up later, have a birthday party, and a football match to attend this afternoon! And its miserable here! Sad

OneLittleLady · 15/11/2014 10:40

lib I've got brushes but use fingers usually. I've found I often 'overload' my skin with a brush and tend to get a more natural look just using fingers

BrandyAlexander · 15/11/2014 11:18

Same here, I use fingers for foundation though when I have had makeovers they have used brushes or sponges.

Christmas is huge in our family so everyone gets tonnes of presents.Grin although I am not feeling a fab present giver. I need to get a birthday present for a significant birthday soon and struggling to work out what would be a wow present for a teenager! it needs to be something that lasts. i might play it safe and get jewellery and then other fun presents.

MarshaBrady · 15/11/2014 11:55

Same here, not sure I'd know how to do it with a brush.

maradesbois · 15/11/2014 13:26

Morning,

Grey day here too. Haven't left the house yet but dh just home on overnight flight so we are delighted to see him and just chill.

One week to the mu yay! If anyone can't come who hasn't already said pls can you let me know asap as will call the venue midweek to adjust numbers.

Lib I only use mineral powder foundation so use big brush but would use fingers for a cream one. At bobbi brown they told me that they have to use brushes in the store for hygiene but fingers always better for blending.

Shop et al take it easy today, must say I like the sound of Dry's hangover remedy.

Novice great party menu and fab Christmas shopping, not surprised that jewellery is your gift of choice!

Linus The Darjeeling Ltd is fab as Santa said. I loved the MJ for Vuitton customised luggage with the animal print. Wes's films are whimsical without being twee, love the styling.

Fedup and Marsha enjoy your nights out.

No fashion news, not spending money on self as too much else going on. Love the build up to Christmas. Popped into tk maxx in week to stock up on dc party gifts and toy selection was amazing. Was also happier than anyone should be to find a red cushion with retro ski scene on front which will look fab in my red living room. Got some big lego storage heads for £15 each. They also had loads of brio trains stuff and huge Melissa & Doug stuffed animals for those with the space or inclination.

shopafrolic · 15/11/2014 15:05

Play date done without casualties. DS and I now curled up on sofa watching movies.
It's Dry's DH I might have upset Blush

OneLittleLady · 15/11/2014 16:21

Spent a lovely day with my Ds, he is so sweet and caring. He chose lovely Barbie dolls for his foster sisters and insisted on buying me a little present out of the pocket money I had given him. It's a lovely pale blue gemstone bracelet. He insisted on buying it for me so I let him, it seemed to make him very happy. Utterly exhausted now though!

libertychick · 15/11/2014 16:33

Ah that's lovely one. He sounds like a little sweetheart.

Thanks for the foundation tips! I will check out those vids santa.

novice my parents bought my teenage sister a really good camera last Christmas and she absolutely loves it.

OneLittleLady · 15/11/2014 16:36

He really is lib I'm so proud of how caring and unselfish he is. He is growing up to be a really wonderful boy Smile

bettykt · 15/11/2014 16:44

One your ds sounds a real sweetie

Liberty I've recently switched to a sponge and I put less on, I don't like it too heavy. Today I bought foundation brush just to try. Will let you know how I get on.

BrandyAlexander · 15/11/2014 17:03

Hi Betty, which brush did you buy? I have MAC which is pretty good.

I agree with everyone One, your ds always sounds so lovely.

Lib' I had thought camera as well actually but wondered whether in these days of iPhones etc, whether the young actually use cameras.

Thanks for everyone's menu help last night. It's for a Christmas get together dh and I are doing in a few weeks time.

bettykt · 15/11/2014 17:45

Novice I went with Real Tecniques, couldn't decide between the stippling brush, foundation brush or expert face brush, so took pot luck. They were on a 3 for 2 at Boots so I bought other things their eye brushes and a Leighton Denny nail file. Your menu sounds lovely btw.

LinusDKD · 15/11/2014 18:02

Just saw a picture of Barbra Streisand, what has she done to her face?!

She's always resisted having a nose job even though she was 'advised' to when she was a young actress/singer so why has she been messing with her face now?

maradesbois · 15/11/2014 18:06

Just checked bank balance and v pleased to see that I got my My Wardrobe refund. Still think they seem to be in trouble though...

bettykt · 15/11/2014 18:16

Techniques!

Mara glad you got your refund.

libertychick · 15/11/2014 18:22

DSis has an iPhone too novice but you can do so much more with a good camera. She has really developed an interest in photography as a result. She was doing a photography class in school at the time. If you did do a camera then maybe some lessons as well so they have a chance to see what they can do.

Mominatrix · 15/11/2014 18:26

Evening everyone.

I think I have lost my MNV cred - I was at football with DS2 this morning, and loads of the other mums were coming back with huge MyWardrobe.com bags. Turns out they were having a clearance/sample sale just across the street from the (very muddy) field our children were playing in. Can you actually believe that I DID NOT GO?!?!?!? I really wanted to, but I had DS1, DS2, DS2's friend plus dog, and I did not think that the town hall or the boys would have been very pleased. DFriend came back with 3 v. Large bags including 2 Missoni dresses £50 each!!!!), shoes, a parka, and a scarf. I know, I will be kicking myself, but my responsible hat was on today and technically, I am supposed to be on a ban.

Hope those with fantastic social lives are recovering well/having a blast. I am staying in as I have to pick DH up from St. Pancras after a week in Paris during which time he better have thought of me.

In terms of foundation, I do use a brush. I find it gives lighter and smoother coverage. Also, it prevents me from having foundation streaked white towels.

One - your DS sounds lovely. Do you think he could come around and give lessons to my DS?

Novice - you are making me feel guilty! I need to get cracking on gift buying. However, I am so lazy that I leave things very last minute for Father Amazon.co.uk to deal with things. In terms of presents, I'm very easy - anything in an orange box, thank you.

Hope everyone is having a lovely evening!

LinusDKD · 15/11/2014 19:15

one your DS sounds like a lovely considerate boy! Just like his mummy Wink

mara glad you got your refund!

mom I agree, orange boxes are great as a gift. I do like red boxes and turquoise boxes as well though. Grin

I made Tom Kerridge's chicken Kiev tonight and they were yummy. His ingredient quantities were a bit off but the end result was delicious, even if I say so myself. I will reek of garlic for days to come but it was worth it. Grin
