Remember our chats??

Our SOTD (scent of the day)?

Is there a thread I've missed Shock

If not, lets take it up here :)

SOTD an unknown sample from my perfume drawer, woodsy and irisy, am baffled but enjoying it!

OP posts:
canny1234 · 18/11/2014 16:21

I've ordered 2 of the Atelier cologne sample sets as well.I love some of the colognes especially Mistral Patchouli,Oolong infinii,le toit de Paris and Grand neroli. My sisters will love them.

FrugalFashionista · 18/11/2014 16:55

SOTD Miriam and when it wore off, vintage Chanel No. 19 EDT. Cool and rosy with fascinating layers. Wearing slip-on sneakers, flares and a fisherman sweater, not a chignon and stockings with seams...

ToysRLuv · 18/11/2014 18:39

Thanks, canny!

Shins: Your package is on my table, ready to go..

SOTD: Jour de Fete. Just felt like something easy, light and sweet today.

wiltingfast · 18/11/2014 21:46

I've never done the actually splitting OLL, I think you might need a little funnel and a small spray bottle and then you can spray the perfume in iyswim? I can certainly send you a small spray bottle but I've no funnel!

Anyone wiser?

OP posts:
niminypiminy · 18/11/2014 21:56

You can get them from Amazon apparently, or Now Smell This reckon you can make one out of kitchen foil.

I'm happy to pay for bottle/funnel. But also if it would be simpler do just send the bottle to wiltingfast, I'm not so keen to try it that I want to put you to a lot of hassle.

niminypiminy · 18/11/2014 21:57

(btw if anyone wants a sample of Miriam they are welcome to mine. I've tried it a couple of times and can't bear it at all.)

ToysRLuv · 18/11/2014 22:22

You can just spray straight in the bottle. I have hardly ever used my funnel and I've done lots and lots of decants of all sizes. The small vials are harder to spray in, but I'm pretty good at it now.

Molinard bottles are a nightmare for decanting. If you spray more than a few times in a row, the spray fitting becomes leaky and the perfume goes everywhere. I've stopped trying now.

OneLittleLady · 18/11/2014 22:27

I will look into getting some bottles to split it then. Sounds easy enough. Not sure when I'll have chance to do it but will keep checking back on thread so I don't lose you. I'm coming up to exams right now so am a bit swamped with revision and stuff!

FrugalFashionista · 19/11/2014 08:33

Today I'm looking for a good work vibe and want to smell like a dapper gentleman - hence wearing Spanish Leather (Geo Trumper), a camo sweatshirt, neat khakis and silver high-tops.

niminypiminy · 19/11/2014 11:14

Frugal, like your style ( though I couldn't hack it myself). Today I have a really long work day, won't finish till after 9pm. I've got stompy ankle boots and my favourite black and white spotted dress, and Guerlain Chamade.the scent I wear more than any other. I need something that will last and that I love through the whole of its story.

leedy · 19/11/2014 11:34

SOTD: Sample of Olfactive Studio's Still Life. Sort of slightly peppery boozy citrus. Smells a bit like I've mulled myself, but not in a bad way. V interested in trying some of their others now, I have a FB of Flashback and love it.

canny1234 · 19/11/2014 12:14

Penhaligons Lavendula today.I love the cute 15ml minis that Penhaligons sell.Has anyone tried Cliniques Beyond Rose? Its on offer at AllBeauty at the moment.I would love to try it but wouldn't want more than a 10 ml decant.I have already agreed to buy decants of Rose Perfection and Lipstick Rose though already this week so better hold fire.

Fabulassie · 19/11/2014 13:32

Today I bought a gift set of Vivienne Westwood Naughty Alice (eau de parfum and lotion). So that's my scent of the day. The sales lady gave me a fist full of samples. I've got:

Chloe
Calvin Klein Euphoria Gold
Calvin Klein Euphoria Gold for men
Bottega Veneta Knot
Balenciaga
B Balenciaga
Roberto Cavalli

I decided to spray Gucci Oud on before leaving the store and wore that for the morning. I guess it was pretty good but I'm not going to be buying it. I'm not sure I like oud, even though I sort of feel that I should like it, as I love orientals.

Fabulassie · 19/11/2014 13:33

Also, I have a sample of Chanel 22 and I love it. But I tested it on male friends and they all shrugged and said, "yeah... it's nice." Since that was an underwhelming response I sort of dropped the idea of buying the (very expensive stuff) but I wore some to bed last night and I really do love it. I am going to have to think on that a while.

FrugalFashionista · 19/11/2014 16:37

Fabulassie Ch No 22 is beautiful and stremlined like a Brancusi sculpture - but quite a few men would be more comfortable with something that smells like cupcakes or shampoo Wink You will probably enjoy some other classic aldehydic perfumes as well, and Niminy's modern aldehydic, done in the style of the great 1920s and 1930s perfumes, Miriam, might be worth a try as well. Cannot guarantee you'll like it though.

Had a great day. Spanish Leather smells a little like Imperial Leather soap iirc - nice, brisk and clean, good for organized thought and getting things on paper.

Niminy thanks - you are wearing the queen of perfumes! And leedy Flashback is great - another brisk, efficient perfume - rhubarb and vetiver are notes that I just love.

ClaudiaNaughton · 19/11/2014 18:07

"Want to smell like a dapper gentleman" I LOVE it Grin

ToysRLuv · 19/11/2014 18:46

Canny, who are you buying a decant of Lipstick Rose from? I'd love a decant of that. It's one of my all time faves, but out of my reach financially for an FB..

canny1234 · 20/11/2014 10:03

Toys its a split of a travel set from a Fragantican.I've just checked to see if she has any more and I think this Particular Lipstick Rose split is closed. If you want some you can vouch for a split on Fragantica.I'm really looking forward to receiving this as it is a totally blind buy.I do love Drole de Rose and lots of Violet/Rose combinations though and I'm pretty certain I will like it.

SOTD is Diptyques Olene. This is so potent.I think I've just anaesthetised the Decorator!

shins · 20/11/2014 13:11

Frugalfasionista, love that you’re listing your outfit with SOTD! Yesterday’s SOTD was Lutens De Profundis, which should really have been twinned with a purple velvet cape and an air of sorrow instead of the sacklike denim dress I had on.

Today’s SOTD: 31 Rue Cambon, which goes with my grey silk dress and pearls in its ladylikeness. The clumping DM biker boots kind of ruins the effect though..

leedy · 20/11/2014 14:53

SOTD: Aedes de Venustas EDP again, which I'm really loving. Will be very sad when I finish my sample, no idea where I'd get a FB hereabouts.

Kind of goes with my outfit, given that it's pretty leafy and I'm wearing green (though, like shins, also wearing unleafy biker boots).

Carpaccio · 20/11/2014 15:02

SOTD: Hermes - Jour d'Hermes. It's such a lovely citrus and white floral scent. It's probably more for spring and summer, but I just love wearing it.
It's classic but not old or boring, feminine but not too sweet, and very elegant.

FrugalFashionista · 20/11/2014 17:24

Shins loving your outfit - it's all about contrasts Wink My SOTD is Vega, probably my current favorite. It's very classic, a bit like Chanel No. 5, but warmer and more sensual. To offset it, I'm wearing stuff that I do not reach for when I'm busy - old flares and the coziest gray sweatshirt (elbow patches and lovely brushed cotton texture inside) and a heap of bracelets. Pretty much housebound this week so going for absolute comfort. Also love pairing an ultra feminine frilly dress with Leather Oud Wink

Great perfume picks ladies! I love Aedes de Venustas, my decant is from the lovely Gerald on Crystal Flacon, five star recommendation as he packs and labels so beautifully. AdV FBs are easy to source in Italy (Campomarzio steps off Corso) but these days I need very few perfumes in sizes larger than 10 ml. Jour has one of the loveliest openings...

I'd give away my mini of Lipstick Rose (I have a phobia of YSL Paris and this violet rose gets a bit too close) but I think I sold it already :( If you find one or two others who like it, you can split a travel set.

Fabulassie · 20/11/2014 17:43

Carpaccio, I have been eyeballing Jour D'Hermes this week... but it's a tiny bit pricey so I went for the Naughty Alice, instead. Which is my SOTD today. I really like it - it's sweeter than my other fragrances, but not insipid.

OlfactoryFresh · 20/11/2014 17:59

Ooh, this is timely, I was just thinking about how I'd made a poor choice with a perfume purchase.

I have a full bottle (bar about 10-15 squirts) of Eau d'Hadrien and I'm not getting on with it. My favourite perfume is Diptyque Philosykos, anyone up for a swapsy? Or do you have a suggestion of something else I'd like? I also like Neroli Portofino but it's spleen bendingly expensive.

FrugalFashionista · 20/11/2014 18:40

Aedes de Venustas here or here Wink
