Remember our chats??

Our SOTD (scent of the day)?

Is there a thread I've missed Shock

If not, lets take it up here :)

SOTD an unknown sample from my perfume drawer, woodsy and irisy, am baffled but enjoying it!

OP posts:
shins · 08/11/2014 10:09

Toys I will swap you some Rien, I have a full bottle.

Re SM, in the follow up smaller book "100 Perfumes", Tanya says she loathes it, something like a mix of "J'Adore" and an oyster you shouldn't eat!

I heard Frederic Malle has been bought by Estee Lauder Sad

ToysRLuv · 08/11/2014 14:01

Yay, thanks, shins!

Sotd: A rummage in one of my samples bags produced HdP Tubereuse 2 (Virginale). It's a nice clean tuberose with fruits. I think I can live with this, although for some reason I've become more and more sensitised to tuberose. I can't wear Carnal Flower any more. It makes me feel a bit sick :(

Still, I hope Lauder leave Malle to get on with their excellent work.

Toys I've received your package - thank you!I'm having a wonderful time anointing myself with the different perfumes.I Love Ysl's Nu (who would have thought i'd like a perfume with incense in).Really enjoying revisiting eau de hadrien( must purchase a decant)as it used to be my signature.Love love Profumum Roma's Battito d'ali.I never would have tried this from the list of notes as it reads like a gourmand scent.Where can I buy a decant of this?

ToysRLuv · 08/11/2014 20:43

Oh, that was quick! :) Good to hear you enjoyed Nu and Battito d'Ali! But I've no idea where to get a decant of it.. It all used to be a bit easier when e-bay wasn't so mercenary. Bought lots of decants there

canny1234 · 10/11/2014 10:13

OK,I've used up all my Battito d'ali and have found an eBay seller. Its so phenomenally expensive for a decant though!I would absolutely love to try Profumum Roma's Ninfea as well - a violet and grass perfume. Its considered to be one of the best Violets arround ( and I am a real sucker for violet scents).
Love the Molinard Violette Toys,as it smells exactly like Parma Violets.
Sotd today is Fleurs de Citronnier.
Toys I will try and do your decants today.Thank you for all the vials.Shall I keep them for any future decants you might want?

ToysRLuv · 10/11/2014 19:52

Canny: Thanks!! Yes, the Molinard is parma violets in liquid form.. The vials you can use in any way you like :)

Leedy: I got your package today! So, SOTD was "Like This". Perfect for autumn. Anything else you'd like to swap for?

leedy · 10/11/2014 22:49

Hoorah, so glad it arrived! It's a great Autumn scent.

Shins your perfume has been posted.
Sotd is Champs Elysees. This smells predominantly of almond in warm weather and Lilac in cold weather - weird, but either way I love both notes.

leedy · 11/11/2014 11:50

SOTD: Olfactive Studio's Flashback. Rhubarb and vetiver, very nice.

ToysRLuv · 11/11/2014 11:52

Sotd: Bvlgari Black. Vanilla leather. One of my all time favourites.

Canny: That's interesting! I used to have a fb of (vintage) Champs Elysees, but got rid of it because it just smelled of raspberry on me and I found it too boring. No almond or violet on me!

shins · 11/11/2014 13:29

Toomuchtea, I absolutely love Oriza Legrand, I keep telling people about them to the point of boredom!

Canny, thanks, pm'd you.

Toys, I didn't know you had Bvlgari Black, I must include that in our swap if possible! (pm'd you too)

SOTD: Chanel No. 19 because it's just bloody gorgeous and today is a grey rainy day.

Carpaccio · 11/11/2014 13:48

Bvlgari Black is lovely, but very special!

SOTD: Lubin Gin Fizz. Citrussy clean scent - almost a bit boring.

I'm looking for small bottles to decant some perfumes - either sample sized or a little bigger. Where do you get yours?

I've previously used those Travalo purse sprays but they're a little too big and expensive for this.

ToysRLuv · 11/11/2014 19:34

shins: Just replied. :) I can do a small decant of maybe 3 ml of the Bvlgari Black, but not much more, as I've not got a lot left in the bottle (that's why it wasn't listed)..

Carpaccio: I just buy chepo bottles from e-bay.

leedy · 11/11/2014 20:49

What are the empty bottles listed under on eBay? I've just had a look and can only seem to find large ones and/or proper little travel atomizer things.

Apatite1 · 11/11/2014 21:01

I too love Bvlgari black! It's very underrated.

SOTD is alien essence absolue

ToysRLuv · 11/11/2014 22:28

E.g. "empty spray bottle 10 ml(or whatever you need)" is a pretty good term within "Health and Beauty"..

I like Alien, but find it maybe a bit much.. prefer the lighter versions, but not enough to buy a fb.

I'm still looking for the 'right' vanilla scent. perhaps something with oriental tones to it, i don't want sweet. the closest i've found so far is the original ghost scent but it's still not quite right, it's classed as a fruity floral on fragrantica but it doesn't smell at all fruity on me, it smells of spices, musk and a touch of vanilla, I get no fruit notes at all from it when it's on my skin, none of the peach thats in it nor do i get any of the rose. I can smell them in the bottle but they don't come through on my skin

I'm not a big fan of vanilla but I do like Caudalie Parfum Divin, have you tried that? It manages to be quite fresh while being very cosy: musk, rose, and vanilla. Definitely not too sweet.

Have you tried Shalimar? (You probably have, but I thought I'd mention it.)

Fabulassie · 12/11/2014 11:56

I adore perfume and I am trying to be choosy about which ones I buy. I used to have something like 60 perfumes in my 20's, which was daft as I smoked so what was the point?!

Right now I have Coco, Opium, Shalimar, Mitsouko, Chamade, White Diamonds, Beautiful, and Anais Anais. (The White Diamonds, Beautiful, and Anais, Anais were purchased during a heat wave when I thought I needed to wear more florals.) I can see from reading this thread that you lot have pretty sophisticated tastes in fragrances!

I am tired of the same old fragrances that I see all over the place and I'm sort of waiting to find something new and exciting. I used to own Hermes 24 and toyed with buying that, again, but I don't think I will. I have been contemplating a Fragonard scent (either "Emile" or "Fragonard") that I see in M&S for a while, now. Used to own Emile and liked it a lot. I recently tried Cartier La Panthere and liked it. I'm thinking of getting a sample and seeing how it goes.

But I sort of want something really different and special. There were some beauties at Selfridges but they cost hundreds of pounds and that's not going to happen.

canny1234 · 12/11/2014 12:41

Cologne of the missions One Little lady.An oriental Vanilla thats now available at Boots and online by Les Convent des Minimes.Interesting reviews on Fragantica.Alternatively Vanille Insensee by Atelier Cologne is another popular one.
SOTD is Jour de Fete.
Welcome Fabulassie!
