Dry funnily enough I bagged up all my make up today and wondered if you might like it?
I used to wear a lot of beige lipsticks, and oranges and nutmeg type shades. Bronzer is now out. And brown eyeliner and mascara.
Fedup I might have to try it. I miss my GAP plaid shirt that I had to send back (that they refunded - thanks GAP).
Karbea will take a look - thanks.

shopafrolic · 12/10/2014 18:42

Blair what size is your sister?

libertychick · 12/10/2014 18:59

Shop Shock Bagged up all your make up? Your make up always looks fantastic. Are you sure? Should you not try out the new look for a week or two first before getting rid of it all? (Sorry Dry - not trying to do you out of lots of new goodies Smile)

libertychick · 12/10/2014 19:00

the ££££....

LinusDKD · 12/10/2014 19:07

I agree with lib hang onto your make-up a little while longer.

You looked great in that Chanel eyeliner (cassis?) and now I use it too. Wink

Talking about make-up, I finally tried on Nars Schiap this week and I loved it. I quickly smooched it on as the Nars counter was abandoned (before the scary SA came back) and whilst it was very bright I loved it and couldn't stop staring at myself in shop windows walking home.

Not sure if I could wear it full-on but patted on like a balm it looked great.

shop she is size 10 I think, a bit smaller than me. Are you going to be ebaying lots of things now? :)

shopafrolic · 12/10/2014 19:12

Not all of my make up, just the wrong stuff. Kept the cassis eyeliner, kept the green and all my greys. In a separate bag are peach blushers, nude and brown lipsticks - trust me, I still have lots Wink
I thought if I kept it separate I'd see if I miss it. I am going to buy 2 new lipsticks, a burgundy first, and later a pink. Nothing more for now. The biggest change is losing the bronzer, but I think that was what I was using to make me look more Autumny IYSWIM.

shopafrolic · 12/10/2014 19:14

Had to google Linus that is BRIGHT

LinusDKD · 12/10/2014 19:18

But I use bronzer shop. Only in summer really but used sparingly I think it works. Mine is Nars Laguna.

LinusDKD · 12/10/2014 19:21

I know it's bright shop so I wouldn't dare put it on properly. Or I would do that but only to walk around the house

LinusDKD · 12/10/2014 19:22

Btw, I haven't bought it yet but am tempted.

Even for the name only as I recently read Elsa Schiaparelli's biography.

I have just remembered that I had my makeup colours done when dsis got married (16yrs ago) and ended up wearing oranges and browns until a few years later a friend who did hoc did my colours properly and I went back to what I had been wearing before.

Maybe the consultant thought she needed to earn her fee by making changes or she was wholly incompetent! Either way I ended up wearing the wrong colours for a few years. In my defence, I had a 4 and 2 yr old plus expecting ds3 so brain was addled!

shopafrolic · 12/10/2014 19:26

I am very tempted to email the previous stylist Fedup and ask for my money back (and compensation for the thousands of ££ spent!)

Karbea · 12/10/2014 19:31

How on earth am I going to know if the season they give me is the right one, if you've both had incorrect readings?

Drywhiteplease · 12/10/2014 19:33

Ooh Shop I adore cosmetics so whatever you think will suit me I'll certainly take off your hands. Lipstick wise any blue tones are out (don't think you'll have any of those) all browny tones are in (browny reds, browny pinks, etc) ...think I'm an autumn?
I agree with liberty though your make up always looked super polished and perfect to me so don't be too hasty getting rid.

Karbea · 12/10/2014 19:35

linus I love that colour, you could definitely wear it on a sunny day.
I've a couple of really bright colours that I rarely wear but when I do I always get compliments.
My dh got me tom fords black orchid, just because of the name.

shopafrolic · 12/10/2014 19:36

Wish you lived round the corner dry - you could come over for wine and a rummage
Karbea when it's done correctly, you will definitely see it. Make sure you book with HoC, not an independent. (Well that's my experience)

Karbea · 12/10/2014 19:41

Yes I'm going to go with HoC. The lady near here has years of experience and seems to do corporate things as well (not that I have a corporate job or anything anymore, but I guess it makes me think she must be ok, if corporates employ her for her advise).

LinusDKD · 12/10/2014 19:41

I just put on Mac Russian Red. I would never dare put this on outside the house but it is such a gorgeous red.

It is going to be a b£*#% to get off my wine glass later though.

Drywhiteplease · 12/10/2014 19:51

Wine and a rummage sounds great Shop

As you all know I'm far too set in my ways to get my colours done and if a consultant told me I couldn't wear a colour I love then I'd ignore her....but, I've been looking it up and I should be a type of summer with grey/blue eyes but I love dark autumn and dark winter colours Confused best to stay ignorant I think Grin

Fedupnagging · 12/10/2014 20:17

I had been wearing the same sort of colours since about 16 (blues, pinks, greys etc) so when I had the colours done, I thought maybe my skin tone had changed post dc's and went along with it. stupidly

Nowadays, I am confident with what colours suit me although am open to a slight tweak here and there but would not change a whole palette. Am less confident with style though.

Karbea I agree with Shop go for hoc or someone who has been recommended to you.

Linus that is a fabulous shade of lipstick and a colour I used to wear a lot especially in the summer and for going out. Now I'm heading towards 50 it's just a bit too bright Sad

BrandyAlexander · 12/10/2014 20:20

Shop! Coo-eee! I just saw you ordered from j crew. You know I am back in the US again this month...?Wink

Karbea those were two really interesting links. It was interesting seeing some alternatives to the MAC lipstick I use (although over the last 18 months I have used Nars).

I love those Dune kitten heels, absolutely love them.Envy

shopafrolic · 12/10/2014 20:23

Novice I haven't forgotten. There will be a list! I just thought that one was a bit chunky for the suitcase. X

santamarianovella · 12/10/2014 20:29

Same here dry, could never go with it, too scared to do it,

karbea you are very pretty,

shop that jcrew sweater is beautiful.

This colour talk is very interesting ,I tried this sweater recently, it comes in two colours this brownish goldie one and another navy greyish one, I tried the brown one first, and it looked good on me, the colour really suits my skin tone, and just made me look more glowy , but when i tried the navy grey one, it looks like someone just switched the lights off,and I looked pale, I know it sounds funny but that's the only way I can explain it, its like the combination of charcoal grey and navy just reflected on my face and I looked greyish, even the SA commented on that,

i recently booked with a good nars makeup artis in selfridges ,fab, picked a couple of looks ,a no makeup makeup, and a neutral one that I can add more for night, I just have a few lipsticks, 2blushes, one bronzer and some eyeshadows, pallette mostly urban decay naked ones , and that's it, it feels so much nicer to have little makeup, very liberating!

BrandyAlexander · 12/10/2014 20:33

Lol! Boss lady (my PA) is currently doing the schedule so will have to see how much time I get off!Grin
