I'm tempted to just have a little try Stokey Blush - probably not that one though, Sea NY is £Shock

Sleepwhenidie · 18/09/2014 14:42

Out for dinner tonight....my social life this week is unusually good Linus, I even had a night out with some newish friends who are mums at DS1's school on Tuesday. 3 of them, each incredibly stylish in their own way, they would fit right in on here!

Santa did you ever go to Trishna, as it was so close to you? Any guidance re what to wear?

QueenCardigan · 18/09/2014 14:46

I'd like to try a fake fur jacket but like sleep said I'd feel like I'm playing dress up. Can't do anything too tailored or masculine either. I'm having doubts about my new boots being too manly but I'm out of the return date. I can do polo necks but not high necks if that makes sense.

Ordered some shoe boots for nights out from next. Will link later. Not sure yet, think they may cut me off at an unflattering point.

marsha yes, chickenpox. Glad to have it done before she starts school. She hasn't particularly been unwell with it except itchiness at night but as she missed preschool this week I can feel myself getting a bit tetchy and needing a break from her.

QueenCardigan · 18/09/2014 14:49

next shoe boot. Great for the money ( don't want to spend too much due to cpw), lovely colour and look great from the side but just not sure from the front view. Need to have a play around a bit more with different jeans.

MarshaBrady · 18/09/2014 15:31

I know you all know this, but I have to say. It is so warm!

Wish I'd changed from skinnies for last summer dress hurrah

maradesbois · 18/09/2014 15:42

Afternoon,

Time for a quick post before I run out to do the SR in my pjs Wink. Seriously though, one of my friends discounted our local state primary as she saw a mum arriving in nightwear. It wasn't even just that she lived next door to school and ran out, she arrived in a cab, private hire so had time to call it but not throw on some clothes.

Marsha fur pistols are lovely, are you keeping?

Sleep fab social life! Possibly not too far from you. Basically want to be central as possible without being somewhere dead or soulless inhabited by oligarchs and sheiks for 2 weeks of the year. That's the Mayfair townhouse ruled out.

Linus love the sound of your Audrey outfit, you do such good H&M, its been said before here but worth repeating. Smile

Georgina welcome.

Santa your description of London life sounds exactly what we're looking for.

On way home popped into tk maxx, didn't get anything but great stock atm, Maison Martin Margiela, Sergio Rossi, Balenciaga and nice pieces although probably a good few years old. Also j brand and rich & skinny jeans in the clearance for approx £30. Love that place atm.

Off to London tomorrow, want to try on Zaritas in green and plum, will report back.

Btw I can't/won't do wedge trainers, statement necklaces or lots of jewellery in general and have the same attitude towards pattern as Awks.

GeorginaWorsley · 18/09/2014 16:11

Queen the Next shoe boots look good.
Bum lady blog featured some nice Marks ones too.

Drywhiteplease · 18/09/2014 16:36

Oooh Georgina I love the sound of you....."pared down elegance", vain....brill Grin
Blair that's a nice looking skirt, may try if latest one is no good.

Hmm...trends I can't do:
Wedge trainers
Uggs
Fake fur
Jumpsuits
MIDI....I like them, they may grow on me, but I think they'd make me look squat
Biker boots....ditto, look cool on others, but on me Hmm, but this could be a trend I'd get into as it's going out
Anything too masculine...All Saints look isn't really me, I'm not a rock chick Grin
Brogues....look great, would be great for work, but wrong on me

I'm really rather thrilled because my builders will be back tomorrow as they won't be done today, which means they can take my latest leather skirt delivery in for me Grin

Fedupnagging · 18/09/2014 16:47

Just popping in for a quick catch up. V busy this week and also have 2 thick books to read in 2 weeks which won't happen if I keep playing on my iPad!

School run style - as I commented on the thread, I didn't realise it was a 'thing' but maybe I am reading school style threads wrong-was thinking it's all about competitive dressing but maybe not. it doesn't count though if you wear pj's to do a surprise late night pick up of the dc's

Sleep your social life sounds great. Enjoy tonight.

Welcome to Georgina

Stokey sorry you didn't get the job.

Tea dresses and sports lux are trends that look plain wrong on me along with midi skirts.

I had a quick look at all the links but no time to study them although the shoe boots Queen linked are nice.

Off to meeting at ds3 school - he doesn't want to go so we are currently in negotiations. As he is bigger than me, I can't just pick him up and strap him in the car Grin

GeorginaWorsley · 18/09/2014 16:55

Grin to *dry

I posted the 'pared down elegance' on the 50 thread.
It is the look I aspire to but am sure don't always achieve!

Sleepwhenidie · 18/09/2014 17:02

Oh dear fedup, why doesn't he want to go? Have you tried taking him to a jobcentre to give him an idea of the kind of jobs/salaries available without any qualifications Shock? A tactic used by a friend's sister for her slacking teenager, apparently it was very effective Wink.

Awks · 18/09/2014 17:26

Going out on a school night in an hour or so Grin I also work backstage at a concert venue and it's our end of season celebration where we drink and eat anything that's left in the riders cupboard

I'm going to wear a black cocoon dress like this with a River Island sand thin oversized parka and my trusty Topshop mighties (it's in a marquee behind the stage!)

I love this evening, where we all reminisce about who was lovely and who was "businesslike" aka rude and relive all the hairy moments.

Sleepwhenidie · 18/09/2014 17:50

nice dress Awks - going to give us a clue about which venue ? Grin

shopafrolic · 18/09/2014 17:53

Awks have you tried Massimo Dutti? I haven't looked but they might be worth a try?
Boho and floral are out for me - not that boho is in but YKWIM
Sleep I should have walked on by wedge trainers too! Re: the ABs, not sure - better than I was but not better yet

OP posts:
shopafrolic · 18/09/2014 17:57

Awks spill the gossip :)

OP posts:
justasecond · 18/09/2014 18:30

I was going to suggest Massimo dutti too Awks their trousers always fit me really well.
Trends I can't/didn't do; wedge trainers, statement necklaces (even though i love them) knee high boots and skinnies (just looks strange on me) girly style of tops i.e loose boho and girly prints.
It was so hot today, I was in my uniqlo shirt again and slim bf jeans with slipper flats that my feet were boiling in but they are in no state to be seen in sandals Grin
I went to tkmaxx today too I noticed they had some Bloch flats like this which I would have got if they had my size, Zoe Karrson hoodies as well as And Other Stories shoes and bags which I was surprised to see.

justasecond · 18/09/2014 18:31

I love that blog you linked Sleep her bedroom is gorgeous.

Drywhiteplease · 18/09/2014 18:49

Awks thought you said "Top Shop nighties"!!!Grin

Out to a posh pub with girls tonight. Think Jimmies, stone or black suede heeled boots statement necklace and fav green jumper and more fitted irl and Disco.

OneLittleLady · 18/09/2014 18:53

I can't do drop waists, fitted midi (midid makes me think of music btw Grin) skirts or dresses or anything bodycon.

Welcome back to georgina

Busy day again, have bought lots of lovely techy magazines to bury my head in on the way to london tomorrow

shop shame about the dentist, I hope you aren't in any pain

Drywhiteplease · 18/09/2014 18:54

I love her layered necklaces

shopafrolic · 18/09/2014 19:08

Not yet One - treatment starts next week. :(

LinusDKD · 18/09/2014 19:18

Evening!

Yes, fake fur is not my thing either. I think it's mainly a question of texture. I don't like anything fluffy or furry. I can just about do a fur/fake fur trim around a hood of a down coat but that's about it.

Love those layered necklaces you linked dry! I should really try and wear more necklaces but with two small DC I am always afraid they will get broken.

I do like stacking bracelets but I haven't done that in a while. I tend to wear less jewelry in summer as I don't like the way it feels when it's hot.

awks and dry have fun tonight!

LinusDKD · 18/09/2014 19:20

Oh and shop Gap do deliver but at such an extortionate price I refuse to buy from them. Shame because I like the look of their merino jumpers.

Might have a look at J Crew...

OneLittleLady · 18/09/2014 19:27

Are you having a lot done at once or is it going to be spaced of a series of appointments shop? I need some work doing as my inlay fell out but luckily I'm not in any pain with it so I can wait until I am able to sort out paying for it and sorting out time off to go and have it done. No sharp edges or anything so that's a blessing though I paid an awful lot of money to have the inlay done in the first place and I'm really annoyed that it's just fallen out. Different dentist now so will have to see what they recommend doing with it

Drywhiteplease · 18/09/2014 19:28

Ammemdment to above outfit...I've just tried my Pettys with Jimmies and, even though they are flatish, they actually look great.
So it's the MNV hat trick.......Jimmies, Pettys and my Disco Grin I feel this may be this A/W fav dressed down look am working on my dressed up lookWink .... wonders whether my fashionista friend will spot them tonight
