115 days to go

Here we go!

OP posts:
EdithDickie · 15/09/2014 19:10

Been awake since 4 Sad

Bad things today - faaaar too much caffeine, chewed nails and cuticles, ate cake.

But looking on the bright side things - I skipped lunch so the cake calories probably haven't put me over, my skin feels really good from the moisturising, ummm, that's all I have!

Will possibly go for run later but may just go to bed!

EdithDickie · 16/09/2014 07:43

Weigh in this morning, have lost a lb Grin

That's 19 lbs so far this year.

101 days to go

Helgathehairy · 16/09/2014 10:03

edith that's brilliant. I've lost 4 pounds in 2 weeks on 5:2 diet. Very happy with that considering there were muffins and cheesecake involved!

OP posts:
EdithDickie · 16/09/2014 17:37

Thanks Helga

How are you finding the fast days with 5:2?

2lbs very respectable Smile

EdithDickie · 16/09/2014 17:38

I meant to say "each week" [smile

OrangeyTulips · 16/09/2014 22:29

Helga is it 100 days tomorrow or 99?

101 days was repeated twice...

OrangeyTulips · 16/09/2014 22:32

I think it was 100 days today if 25 Dec not counted.

VixStarr · 16/09/2014 22:54

This is my update.

I was pretty good until the weekend until now. So tomorrow will be a new day for me.

Here is what I think I have done well on:

  1. Eating a better breakfast. Have had porridge/ 100% shredded wheat/ cheerios ( I know that this isn't good btw but feel its better then crunchy nut/wheetos etc)

  2. Not so great on tea but have switched to some of the time de-decaffeinated and am drinking more water in general. Just not enough.

  3. Had one packet of crisps/ half a packet of choc biccies and a macaroon in the past nine days. And about 6 hot chocolates with marshmallows and two eton mess desserts. Sigh. It sounds awful written down but believe it or not that's an improvement.

  4. Actually have eaten better/ more balanced meals i.e. fruit and veg instead of just carbs and have started to menu plan in advance which helps a lot.

  5. Been pretty good on putting cream on and cleaning/toning etc but need to focus on doing this twice a day.

  6. Went swimming and did one night 2km walk along with my usual 12 miles a week.

I need to avoid

  1. eating bread. I find that I eat it and then I just want more crap. Does anyone have a similar experience? I love it so much though - does anyone have any suggestions on how to get my fix as it were?

  2. Avoid biscuits and tea at baby and toddler groups. Does anyone know if drinking decaffeinated stuff is actually better for you?

VixStarr · 16/09/2014 22:57

Does anyone know by any chance about how many 'steps' we should be taking a day to keep moderately fit?

VixStarr · 16/09/2014 23:24

Oh just found out that it should be 10,000 steps ( roughly 5 miles) - and I thought that me walking a minimum of 12 - 16 miles a week was good! [ shock]

blondiebonce · 16/09/2014 23:37

Nice going guys!

5 miles a day is that??? I thought my 2-3 mile walks took enough time!!!

Skincare going well, water not so good. Not so many walks but taken to doing aerobics at home. Done the plank 3 days in a row. Getting better with calorie intake. Moisturising every other day.

Must persevere!

Helgathehairy · 17/09/2014 08:46

Hello everyone, hope I can join in as well just working on my to do list.
Main things for me is to lose 6lb by the 18th October for a family engagement party that will get me to 11 stone exactly then I want to lose another stone by Christmas. I also want to get into a good beauty routine and revamp my wardrobe.

enormouse · 17/09/2014 13:02

Hi everyone. Back on the wagon again after a few hellish days of DS2 teething. I'm calling him gismo atm as he's happy and smiley during the day and a complete devil at night.

Recap of things I've managed to do:

  1. C25k - am on W6R3 and am really happy with how fit and strong I feel.
  2. drinking more water, including hot water with lemon.
  3. cut caffeine down to one cup of breakfast tea and one green tea a day.
  4. taking an iron supplement every day.
  5. have managed to keep on top of hair and nails. Did intensive conditioner last night and a manicure when DSes were in bed.
  6. have started to overhaul my wardrobe.

Things I need to be better at

  1. flossing
  2. wardrobe organisation
  3. moisturising
VixStarr · 17/09/2014 22:17

blondiebonce ...well according to wikipedia! I am now off to check that fact

EdithDickie · 17/09/2014 22:23

Sounds good enormouse! I think week 6 of C25K is when I really started to feel like a "proper" runner.

Nothing much to re for me. Been bloody manic at work. Managing to keep the food thing mostly under control. Been invited to run after work tomorrow with the IT manager (very fit person!) so will do that hopefully.

I feel your pain enormouse, DD is exactly the same. Think this tooth is up now so hopefully she'll improve a bit soon.

DH has taken over bedtime and I'm going to start doing the shred while he's doing that. I think it's the lack of sleep but I'm MASSIVELY craving sugar. I can go cold turkey and be fine but if I have any I go nuts.

OP posts:
enormouse · 18/09/2014 11:48

Which run are you on edith? I'm dreading this one. I'm not sure if I'll cope with the lack of intervals. I really want to do my local parkrun soon though.

helga hope she was good last night and you got some sleep. Gismo has improved over the last 2 nights so we're all sleeping at last.

EdithDickie · 18/09/2014 18:53

I have finished C25K Grin
Can now run 5k moderately comfortably (well, I am still shattered but I can do it!) and working towards a 10k in November. Longest run to date is just over 5 miles. Started C25K end of May and NEVER thought I would be able to run for an hour or, weirder, that I would love it!

So hang in there - you are climbing the scale of awesome and WILL get there! Grin

Have done 1 park run and would like to do more - everyone was so lovely. There is a thread in Exercise about them.

I had a really good day today. Had birthday cake for someone in work but just kept it at one reasonably sized piece instead of going mad (I hear you Helga, it usually opens the floodgates big time), had someone compliment me on weight loss and went running after work.

It's days like today that I need to remember when I am feeling crap about myself!

More cake at work today but lots of water, carrots, apples, banana, walk at lunchtime.

No alcohol has been drunk for over a week.

Definitely feeling healthier.
