Blondiebonce - what sort of skin products are you using? Could it be that they are too drying for you, or irritating your skin?

You can make a face scrub out of honey, coarse brown sugar and the contents of a (already used) green tea bag. You just put a small amount of each into a bowl, mix it, and then rub it onto your face. It smells divine, helps get rid of dead skin, and makes your skin feel so soft and smooth afterwards.

Playthegameout · 11/09/2014 13:01

Please can I join? I have always wanted to do better with myself, and I do do little bursts of effort, but then I give up and feel worse about myself than ever! Slightly restricted at the moment as we are skint, but so far I've got;

  1. drink more water
  2. start couch to 5 k
  3. clear out wardrobe as it is bursting with stuff I'm too fat for!
  4. paint/keep nails neat nails twice a week.

I will definitely have more. Whilst I'm here could I ask any of you for tips on how to manage my awful skin? It's very spotty and greasy. I do have a cleansing routine that I stick to (using spot products) but it makes zero difference. It's been bad since my teens, so over the years I've tried a lot of stuff. I wear make up to cover it but feel this is exacerbating things, any budget friendly suggestions would be really gratefully received

Hi everyone

chocoholic and play I can really recommend c25k (and the support thread here). I was a complete fitness phobe before it and now I really enjoy running. I'm on week 5 and my next run will be 20 minutes without stopping.

I've been good over the last few days. Lots of water, green tea, healthy eating and running. Applied a deep conditioner to my hair and attended to my nails and toes. My nails are short and a lovely navy blue that makes me happy whenever I look at them.

Unfortunately, I've now come down with the disgusting lurgy dps had and feel rough as toast. DS1 and I are watching Dr who with chocolate brownies. I'm kidding myself they're healthy as I made them myself and they're vegan. And I'm mitigating the chocolateyness with a cup of hot water and lemon.

I've also been a bit naughty and bought myself 2 pairs of dr martens on ebay. One practical black pair and one white with purple flowers which are too beautiful for words.

EdithDickie · 11/09/2014 19:19

Chocoholic I saw that episode too, very difficult to watch, we just want to be around for them forever!

Good luck with the stopping smoking and everything else on your list. You CAN do it!

EdithDickie · 11/09/2014 19:22

And another lover of C25K here! I love it! I ran 4 miles on Monday having started C25K in May. Never thought I'd be able to do it.

I weighed myself this morning and have lost 1lb this week. Really pleased. That's 18lbs off this year and 5lbs to my target weight.

EdithDickie · 11/09/2014 21:39

I bought a pair of trousers on eBay a couple of months ago and had to just hide them in the wardrobe as I couldn't do them up. Now I can do them up!!! And actually properly / comfortably! I am SO happy! Grin Grin

MillyCariad · 11/09/2014 23:46

I would love to do this as I find it hard to actually motivate myself.

  1. Lose 2 stone by Christmas
  2. Start doing yoga again to regain suppleness and stop feeling so stiff
  3. Use my outside gym
  4. Walk more. I live in a beautiful rural place so I need to get out more.
  5. Grow my hair and stop cutting it (it will never grow that way). Would like it a couple of inches longer by Christmas.

I think that's enough for now :)

Sorry for lack of updates from me. Combination of DD teething and trying to walk leads to lots of crying and very little sleep. Any spare time I get I'm trying to get some sleep myself.

I am keeping up with things though.

Well done Edithdickie, such a good feeling.

I have put on 5 kilos I need to lose ... plus my hair is really letting me down: frizzy, and unkempt (have just seen some photos of myself) so:

(1) more exercise. Walk or 30 day shred every day
(2) watch what i eat during the day
(3) more water
(4) blow dry and straighten my hair at least once a week.

MillyCariad · 12/09/2014 10:12

Thanks HelgaGrin

EdithDickie · 12/09/2014 20:40

Hope that you get some sleep helga

Thanks coffee I had to resist the urge to randomly tell people at work today that my trousers were actually zipped all the way up Grin

Ran 5 miles tonight. Am soooooo tired but also feel fantastic!

Hope that everyone has a good weekend.

TeaAddict235 · 12/09/2014 22:29

ok, been drinking honey and lemon tea once a day (due to cold), trying to drink more water. Conditioned my hair this morn and slightly detangled some of it (curly ladies will understand Sad ),
not much else really done apart from creaming my skin after showering.

how is the teething helga? we had the same issue last week, with lots of really bad nights and days spent crying. we use Bongela, calpol and nelson's sachets; the latter two being the most useful. However DS really enjoyed being in our bed from 11pm until morning. DH and I both had bad backs as a result. Today, I managed to sleep next to DS while he napped in our bed after breakfast for 2hours, so I'll have to do the early rise tomorrow while DH gets a lie in before church.

Been substituting one of my normal teas for a green tea thanks to you ladies. Did my toe nails (gold) and redid my hands (filed and painted). been managing to wear eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara most days and think that I need to add lipstick or gloss to it to polish it up now. Do you ladies find a colour and stick to it for daytime or do you have a selection?

Mynameismary123 · 14/09/2014 09:46

I had a good start to this but last week failed miserably so I'm ready to get back into ths today. My aims are to

  1. Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day
  2. Take my make up off every night
  3. Think about my outfits rather than throwing on the first thing I come across for the school run
  4. Have a pamper night once a week
  5. Keep the beauty maintenance up ie dying the grey roots more often
  6. Try to get some exercise, baby and pelvis allowing
  7. Meal plan and eat more healthily
That's it for now might help me to see it written down Well done everyone so far and welcome all the new people

  6. Try a new exercise class
  7. Work on my posture
  8. Speak nicely
  9. Rise above the nonsense of others
10. Don't use my laptop after 10pm 11. Declutter clothing 12. Declutter bedroom
EdithDickie · 14/09/2014 20:55

I love your number 9 Relations! May pinch that one Smile

Not a bad weekend, haven't eaten any of the stuff dd and I have baked, walked to park yesterday, ran 2.5 miles tonight.
Feeling pretty stressed with work and trying to fit in proper time with dd. Need to chill out a bit as this just makes me sleep badly and feel stressed so deep breaths, perspective and positive thoughts are where it needs to be this week!

Good luck for the week ahead everyone.

OrangeyTulips · 14/09/2014 21:23

also pinching no 9. hoping for a better week where I don' t fall off the countdown. Been eating fatty things. Resolve to be more disciplined...

Smilesandpiles · 14/09/2014 22:14

1) Moisterise feet every night. I always forget to do this and end up taking days to get my feet okish in the summer.

2)Drink warm water and lemon in the mornings. I do actually like this and feel a lot more alert than I do just drinking tea.

3) Organise everything for the following day, the night before

4) hair mask once a week

5) look after my nails more

  1. take healthy snacks when out and about

7) buy a diary and keep all apointments in it

8) Polish boots more often

9) prepare evening meal in the morning as much as possible

10) get out of bed when the alarm goes - don't just hit snooze then go back to sleep

  1. move alarm clock to other side of bedroom to force me out of bed.

12) bed at 10 and read for 30 minutes.

13)stop swearing

14)drink 1L of water a day

15) budget, budget, budget. Get all bus fares in for the week on Saturday. Allocate £10 for bread and milk throughout the week. Meal plan.

16)start eating up the food in the freezer.

WitchWay · 14/09/2014 22:39

Oh God, the Christmas Countdown - I'm wondering how close I can get before having to tell DM that we're going skiing unless I'm divorced by then
