One for us winters (especially the romantic classics/romantics!)

SorrelForbes · 30/10/2014 21:27

Oops, scroll down to the red Valentino number!

ForSaleChesterDraws · 30/10/2014 21:40

I used to while away hours looking at The Frock and various other antique places. It normally leads me onto looking at amazing Art Deco diamonds, emeralds and sapphires.

Brassica · 31/10/2014 09:07

Hello, very intermittent poster here. I've just been browsing the Lands End site for Christmas presents and most surprisingly found a nice pine green dress that's an absolute steal - so if anyone's interested look here - £33.95 sale price but available for further 31% discount today if you enter 31BOO at checkout. £23.43 after discount!

I should add I don't work for Lands End and would not generally suggest their clothes for fashion!

Bye for now

mimiasovitch · 31/10/2014 09:51

I want that red dress Sorrel. I'd also like the sort of lifestyle that requires frocks like that. Instead I spend my cash on simple separates for work, with not a bead or sequin in sight. I need a different job clearly. Maybe a cruise boat singer.

SorrelForbes · 31/10/2014 10:55

I'm imagining a life where I'm sitting at a cocktail bar drinking martinis and wearing that red dress if somehow I could squeeze my GGs in

carrie74 · 31/10/2014 11:07

Hello All

Hope everyone well. No new purchases to report, but today I handed in my notice, and from February will be working PT in media, so it could spell the death knell for all my smart clothes. I was never "suit-smart", and can edge down most of my work clothes, but I might be able to wear jeans to work again! Hurrah!

Am slightly hysterical, and kids are pestering me to carve some pumpkins, so will come back to this later.

ItIsntJustAPhase · 31/10/2014 12:18

Carrie how thrilling. My daughter calls the feeling 'nervicited' which seems about right. Or maybe terrorcited. Grin More fun to be had with clothes.

MissScatterbrain · 31/10/2014 13:41

The Boden top has arrived and its a keeper Grin

Carrie, I work in a similar field and love the fact that I don;t have to wear proper suits like I used to - I remember working in places where they had rules such as no trousers, no bare legs or sleeveless tops!

RaisingSteam · 01/11/2014 12:03

Can I jump in with a question? I'm a Deep Winter. I've got to get some wellies urgently for dog walking, due to wide calf I've "narrowed" the choice to some that come in black, navy and burgundy. What would you choose? Mostly I'll be wearing them with dark jeans and black, grey or purple coats? I'm about to book in for a style day but that's not for a month and wellies are needed soon. Sounds daft but they will be quite an expensive purchase!

MissScatterbrain · 01/11/2014 12:45

Fellow deep winter here - I wear boring green wellies by Aigle as these are tough and hardy enough for dog walking. I would wear any of the three colours you mentioned but would choose black as it will go best with all your coats.

RaisingSteam · 01/11/2014 13:35

Yes, black indeed most neutral. Apart from jeans I'm not a great wearer of navy.

I have exhausted all local shops and returned several pairs that were too tight so I'm resorting to getting the same as before, i.e. Huntress. I've seen on many threads that Hunter are rubbish now but they are better than ones I can't get on!

I will look at the Aigle vario though it looks like they have dark green and black.

MissScatterbrain · 01/11/2014 14:51

Yes Hunters are rubbish now - so expensive when these will not last very long and the rubber used is inferior, cracking easily.

Aigles are more expensive but lasts far longer - you can feel the difference in quality of the materials used. Le Chameau also comes well recommended so I would look at them as well.

SorrelForbes · 01/11/2014 16:11

A little trip to Gunwharf Quays this morning with my sister. She very kindly bought me this as a birthday/early Christmas present (mine's actualyl all black and a sort of textured leather, sort of like elephant hide, and much nicer than the picture!). £195 reduced to £55 with a further 20% off.

I also bought this bracelet in Crew. It was a bit of a squeeze getting it on over my chubby little hands and I'm a bit worried that I might not be able to get it off again!

fooogle · 01/11/2014 19:36

Nice clutch sorrel, and sounds like a bargain!

Not good on wellies me. I've basically just got green Dunlop ones!

Had rare trip to primark today. Not the most pleasurable shopping experience but saw some wintery shades and bought some pony skin leopard print pointed two part flats for £10 which will be handy in summer I hope. (Not v winter leopard is it!I know!)

fooogle · 01/11/2014 19:37

They did also have some pretty cool bags but all pleather and I can't quite face that though they're light because of it! Good silver hardware too...

didireallysaythat · 01/11/2014 22:03

Wellies - I am wide of calf and I have some croc wellies with a fur cuff. I don't think my HOC style day woman would approve as they don't cone from jaegar but they most definitely couldn't be worn by a man so I think they are OK for my style type (natural romantic I think). Jellyegg has a good selection...

QueenCardigan · 02/11/2014 09:21

My birthday present. Navy radley grosvenor bag. I've wanted this bag for years and have been waiting for it in navy! It was worth the wait!

Love your new bag Queen. Is it a medium sized one? Happy birthday!

SorrelForbes · 02/11/2014 11:59

Very nice! Happy birthday.

NowhereNow · 02/11/2014 19:40

I bought a very vibrant top in Sainsbury's today. It's described as turquoise but it's quite a deep blue. It isn't a precise match to any of the swatches (it's darker) but is closest to 25 and looks quite like mosaic blue in the Kettlewell catalogue.

fooogle · 02/11/2014 19:44

Lovely bag queen, happy birthday.

Today I succumbed to a charcoal grey cardigan in tkmaxx. It's really long and I'm hoping it will look like the baukjen one [http://www.baukjen.com/uk/m/shop/baukjen/tops/long-sleeve-tops/atlow-cardi-light-grey-melange.htm] but may not pull it off! Better spend 30£ on a fail I guess than £175!

fooogle · 02/11/2014 19:45

Hmmm

MissScatterbrain · 02/11/2014 19:48

Nowhere - you mean Chinese blue?
