purple sweater
Not bright, but the closest I have for now. I don't wear cardigans so I'll be hunting for knits and sweatshirts. Thanks for the tip on Uniqlo heattech.
Waves to QueenC I think I'm the other way round IYSWIM. Black and white are great for me, the reds, greens and purples. Less so the blues. Mole was fairly hideous so as you say, accessories only. Grey is also good.
Thanks for the encouragement, I feel a bit overwhelmed but in a good way!
I haven't had proper style analysis but have previously been told by an independent stylist that I am a Classic Dramatic. Hmm

shopafrolic · 12/10/2014 21:49

Love that blouse for you QueenC

QueenCardigan · 12/10/2014 21:52

shop I'd deffo say you are a classic dramatic although I thought you'd be an autumn so what do I know but those strong structured shapes suit you. I can't imagine you'd be romantic/ingenue type style.

The purple uniqlo is a bright damson and I'm imagining they must do it in a jumper if I've got a cardigan.

Hello shop, I'm also a Jewel Winter (diagnosed nearly a year ago now). I find I really gravitate to cobalt blues (sorry I'm terrible at the actual HOC names, so just describe them instead). I was told never more than 3 colours at a time, so a typical outfit for me would be jeans, then a gap LS t (I have them in black, white, charcoal, cobalt and a bright pink, and find myself drawn to the colours most) with a scarf that ties it all together. I bought the Me&Em scarf in the summer sale that was white, blue and beige and it's been perfect. I also wear A LOT of navy. A lot.

carrie74 · 12/10/2014 22:01

Nice tops QueenC, how do the adjustable sleeves work? [intrigued] also do you buy Esprit online or an actual shop (struggling to think of an actual shop near us).

QueenCardigan · 12/10/2014 22:05

Online carrie. Annoyingly I only discovered them once the bristol store had shut down. Half my tops come from there now so I know what will work and what size I need. I've only worn it once yet and the sleeves are kind of half up/half down if that makes sense but I'm guessing that they could be rolled up fully or rolled down long.

I'm loving this lobelia bright purple jumper but wrong shape for me (bit too short)

ItIsntJustAPhase · 12/10/2014 22:31

Jewel winters definitely need brighter colours, I reckon.

SorrelForbes · 12/10/2014 23:10

Yep, the brighter the better for me too (another Jewel Winter)

shopafrolic · 13/10/2014 07:00

Thanks for all the tips. Would any of you lovely jewels be able to tell me what make up you wear? Particularly blusher and lipsticks?

ItIsntJustAPhase · 13/10/2014 07:58

Lippie. I like the HOC 62 and 50 (fuschia and burgundy) and also their fuschia lip gloss. Several of us regularly wear Raspberry Pie from... Revlon Lip Butter is it?

QueenCardigan · 13/10/2014 08:25

I also found the no7 lipstick matching thing fairly good. A pink I bought from there is lovely. Some of them are too obviously brown toned but I'd like to look at some of the other suggestions when I don't have dc with me.

SorrelForbes · 13/10/2014 08:51

Blusher - Chanel cream blusher in shade 65 and No7 Pop and glow in Rose Blossom.

Lipstick (I have a few, but these are my current favourites):
Clinique Chubby Stick in Pudgy Peony
Estee Lauder Pure Colour Envy in Dominant and in Red Ego
Tom Ford - Bruised Plum
Lipstick Queen - Velvet Rope
Hoc - 62

I haven't tried the No7 lipstick matching yet but it's on my list to do. I have the ability to suck the brightness out of makeup so most of mine is very bright indeed!

Stokey · 13/10/2014 10:11

Hello Shop welcome to the winter wonderland.

I have the 62 fuschia but do find it a bit full on - I'm much more into red and burgundy than pink.

So my favourite reds are Mac Ruby Woo which is a great bluey red but very matte and Channel number 14 rouge allure. I have rouge allure number 33 too which I love as an everyday lipstick, but the HOC consultant said it was a bit on the brown side.

Love that purple sweater.

I retried my GAP shirts - I can see that the white, navy and red one has more contrast, my skin looks whiter and my hair looks darker - but I still think the red and navy one suits me better so am keeping that.

SorrelForbes · 13/10/2014 10:32

Just had a rummage in my make up holdall bag and found these which I also likeoften:

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine - 80 (Suspense) - a glossy fuchsia

Chanel Rouge Allure - 102 (Palpitante) - a nice wearable pink (this tends to be my 'office' lipstick as it's not as bright as the others)

Collection2000 in Prohibition (I wear this less these days as I prefer the texture of the Estee Lauder one)

I was also given a sample of the Armani fluid blusher in shade 6. It's very nice and has a slight shimmer so good for evenings.

SorrelForbes · 13/10/2014 10:37

I can see how those tops work well for you as an Ingénue Natural Queen. I like the idea of that style but I know now to stay away! I might just have 'stolen' your Elie Saab pics for my own board Wink

shopafrolic I bought a nice jumper from Atterley Road but I don't think it's still on sale.

I really want a jacket like this or this and have had a little look in the shops but nothing has really caught my eye. Might have to pop to Bicester soon...

carrie74 · 13/10/2014 11:35

Drooling at that Alexander McQueen jacket sorrel. Totally up my street (and out of my budget!!).

shop I'm still trialling various lipsticks. I've not done a style day, it suspect I'm within the natural/classic spectrum, and still struggle with the colour. Blusher though, I really really like a MAC one, think it's called Breath of Plum. Definitely something plum if not that.

fooogle · 13/10/2014 13:09

Hi shopfrolic. I am a jewel too apparently though was a spring with CMB for many years so was a bit surprised to need to change to cools not warms.
I wear lots of charcoal grey, navy and some colour though I have ended up less colourful rather than more at present, maybe more sultry than jewel but that may be a confidence thing and also am a bit inspired obsessed with the WIT blog and she seems to post lots of neutrals.

Make up - Bobbi brown blush (may be 'pale pink'. Its v bright in the pan.
Eye liner - one like this from a cheap MUA palette but aiming to buy the bobbi brown gel one Violet ink
Lippy...
Endless procession of purchases but like HOC 62 v similar MAC
[[http://www.vanitynoapologies.com/2014/04/clinique-chubby-stick-super-strawberry-moisturizing-lip-colour-balm-review-swatches-fotd.html Clinique]]
Korres wild rose lip
I have v embarrassingly many lip colours and would you believe I am sat here with none on!

Today am wearing black wide leg trousers (old autograph), navy collarless shirt (Mango sale), mid grey studded vintage waist belt, tan clarks Melanie jane boots Shock

shopafrolic · 13/10/2014 14:23

any good Sorrel?

Finbar · 13/10/2014 17:24

Ok, I am thinking of taking the plunge and having a HOC Style Analysis ( Colours already done)
What should I expect?
any tips?
Do they ever get it wrong in your experience ?( I got misdiagnosed on my colours years ago and eventually went to another company as I wondered why I wasn't getting the promised wow factor!) ?

SorrelForbes · 13/10/2014 18:52

Very nice indeed Shop but sadly and it's just a well as it's over budget it's sold out in every size but a XS!

didireallysaythat · 13/10/2014 21:49

finbar I recently had my style day. So far I'm even less convinced about the style than I am about my colours (I haven't had that bolt of lightening event yet 10 months on when I can actually see a winter colour looks better than say an autumn colour). So I guess being told I can wear anything a man could wear, boot cut with heels or boots only and flowing skirts was always going to be another big ask ! I'm not going to be wearing clip on earrings or belts over tops, I don't quite get why handbags must be floppy and not stiff, but thankfully cowl necks are in even if roll necks are out. I'm also not going to be spending 10-20% of my wages on clothes every month !!!

I think I'm just slow to do change eh ??

didireallysaythat · 13/10/2014 21:51

Sorry that should be can't wear anything a man can wear. I like my denim jeans !!

ItIsntJustAPhase · 13/10/2014 22:08

I on the other hand got a lot out of my style day. After getting some different perspectives on the meaning of my style I feel really comfortable that I look much better. I don't follow all the advice but the core is right and helps me a lot.
