I saw a girl wearing a lovely plum jumper on the way in this morning and thought that was what I needed to lift my outfit (black skirt, charcoal shirt) rather than the light grey jumper I went for.

I pulled out one of my favourite skirts to wear from last year this morning, but it is just too yellow now that I know I should be avoiding it Sad

MrPop · 08/10/2014 11:57

Winters, do you think this scarf would work for us?

Stokey have you looked at the purple merino jumper from uniqlo - think it is a kind of damson colour, really lovely.

carrie74 · 08/10/2014 13:24

Gorgeous dress Stokey [daydreams].

Back from NYC where we didn't stop, was amazeballs.

Did a little bit of shopping, but not loads:

Uniqlo cashmere crew neck cardie in a kind of inky blue/purple: www.pinterest.com/pin/283023157807870962/

Lots of J Crew (sale on plus 25% off everything in store). Prices were $ for £ full price, so if you've got a hankering for any J Crew, ask a friend going to the US!!

Navy casual sloppy jumper www.pinterest.com/pin/283023157807868470/

Basic LS tee (very tight, so I sized up to M): www.pinterest.com/pin/283023157807864950/

Perfect grey work trousers with just the right amount of stretch:

The ubiquitous Tippi jumper - lovely fit and colour, but wish it had full sleeves:

Also got a new pair of trainers on advice from physio as I started getting bad knee pains, and she thinks my current trainers are too wide. Not quite as exciting, and no choice of colour Grin.

MissScatterbrain · 08/10/2014 14:37

Fab purchases Carrie (agree about the annoying 3/4 length sleeves though). That blue/purple is what I would call lobelia blue.

Mr Pop - fab scarf for winters.

ItIsntJustAPhase · 08/10/2014 14:46

Carrie, I've just ordered that cardi. Mmm. Grin

Stokey · 08/10/2014 14:49

J-Crew envy Carrie - what great buys. I love the Tippi jumper, great colour - you just need some cashmere wristwarmers

I tried on a top in the Uniqlo "lobelia blue" and it's a lovely colour.

I'm not sure about the Uniqlo damson MrPop. I think I'm after something a bit more purple and less pink, this colour but in a jumper.

Lovely scarf

QueenCardigan · 08/10/2014 16:54

Glad you had a good time carrie. I saw all your purchases on pin. I have that uniqlo cardi and love it. How will you wear it?

The uniql damson is more pinky than purply I'd say and rather bright but that's great for me being a sprinter.

The river island top is going back sadly as its too short for me and shows off an unattractive expanse of flesh if I remotely stretch upwards!

I'm keeping this vest though as it'll be useful for layering and makes a change from white. The dark red was too dark for me though but would probrably be good for a sultry.

I've just been questioning my colours a bit today. I tried on two checked shirts in Zara. One in winter colours should have been perfect, but I think I looked better in this one which is a more of a tomato-ey red.

I bought them both... thought I'd try at home and then decide.

ItIsntJustAPhase · 09/10/2014 16:00

Storey, the black definitely dominates the second shirt.

fooogle · 09/10/2014 17:04

stokey, are you a jewel? I remember when I was being 'done' she said certain colours were less obvious and think the strong reds were ones which were less obvious for colouring vs winter and spring? Nice shirts...

NowhereNow · 09/10/2014 17:18

Interesting - I wonder if it could be a contrast thing? Having the white in the winter colours shirt makes it look a bit more muted IMO, whereas the other one has more contrast between the two colours. I prefer the non-winter one too!

carrie74 · 09/10/2014 22:08

Ooh tricky. I wonder as well is there's anything about combining too many winter colours diluting them somehow? Wearing 3 colours together just in a shirt may be too much?

Queen C I wore the Uniqlo cardie to work his week, but was dull: black capris, black LS tee! black loafers and the cardie. Was a bit subdued really (even though the cardie is quite vibrant).

Stokey I think I've got some of those wrist warmers somewhere in the gloves cupboard...

shopafrolic · 12/10/2014 09:18

Can I come and join the party please? I always thought I was an Autumn - and my entire wardrobe is in Autumn colours. But yesterday I was diagnosed as a Jewelled Winter (or Snow White Winter) so huge changes ahead for me......Shock

ItIsntJustAPhase · 12/10/2014 12:59

Shopafrolic I had exactly the same journey. Jewel winter is much more fun. Grin

shopafrolic · 12/10/2014 17:06

It feels as though it will be ItIsnt but I have spent the last 3 years building the perfect Autumn wardrobe - no idea where to start now! Lipsticks I guess, and work down from there?

ItIsntJustAPhase · 12/10/2014 19:17

Are you confident about the 'diagnosis' of Jewel Winter? Could you really see the benefit?

shopafrolic · 12/10/2014 19:21

Totally - I had that absolute lightbulb moment..... 'Twas amazing!

ItIsntJustAPhase · 12/10/2014 19:42

Then it will be fun and wonderful. Any jeans, purples or navy/blues you can keep? I'm sure various if us would be happy to post our most worn and versatile items if that is any help.

shopafrolic · 12/10/2014 19:51

Lots of jeans I can keep, I was wearing black anyway so that all stays, and I was gravitating towards red, so a few red tops, Bretons etc. I had some grey tees and sweatshirts but everything else was brown, orange, green.
I've ordered a couple of white tees, and a bright red J Crew cable knit sweater, and I think I'll ask for a burgundy merino sweater from GAP for my birthday. It will be fun but it is such a bold change. Really bright, really high contrast. Not for hiding in the shadows?!

shopafrolic · 12/10/2014 19:51

Oh and a purple Dagmar sweater......

shopafrolic · 12/10/2014 19:52

Most worn items would be hugely helpful :)

ItIsntJustAPhase · 12/10/2014 20:57

If you have black, grey and white then you are almost there. Grin

In terms of brights I wear a bright pink cardi a lot (over a white tee, often with black, grey or navy skinnies or jeans or a tube skirt), and a bright blue jumper. I can't find either of them in shops now or I'd link. I'm finding I wear the damson and burgundy colours less than I thought.

Uniqlo Heat tech has some good thermals in Jewel colours.

I'd love to have a link to your purple jumper.

Did you have a style analysis too?

QueenCardigan · 12/10/2014 21:12

. As you know shop I'm a cardi girl and the most worn items in my wardrobe are cardis either navy or grey top. I gravitate towards the blues and purples as they are my favourite colours anyway. I've surprised myself by also loving fuschia. Although I initially wore red after my diagnosis it now feels wrong after having my style done (natural ingenue). I love pine green but find the emeralds a bit overwhelming and difficult to find the right shade. I love grey although navy looks so much better. Navy also looks much better on me than black although I still love all black for an evening out. I like white but worry about getting it dirty and much prefer ice blue but it's so difficult to find. I like burgundy but it's not great on me and stone/mole are pretty bad but are great for bags/boots.
