I've just succumbed to the discount and bought this dress. Clearly I need new shoes to go with it. I think silver, though dark not the super light sort. My feet are on the wide side, though for an evening shoe I'll compromise, but I need to able to walk and dance in them. I have too many car to bar shoes languishing under the bed to buy more. Help me please!

fooogle · 27/09/2014 06:59

Nice dress mimia, quite vintagey. I'm not a great help on shoes but will keep my eyes peeled!
Been wearing not v exciting uniqlo navy long sleeve, plum type cardi, light boyfriend jeans rolled up and saltwater sandals (getting cold feet though)!
Bought what I think is a chinese blue cotton jumper in saino sale yesterday £7 with then 25% off! It's a kind of dropped shoulder long sleeve but I was mostly suckered by the colour!
Got my nars cruella lip pencil, I thought it'd be very red but it seems to pull a bit pink. Think own lip colour just makes colours v different on... Anyone tried it?

Stokey · 27/09/2014 07:44

I haven't tried that Fooogle

I use Mac Ruby Woo which is a great red but very matte or Channel rouge allure no 14. They're both full on reds though!

I got the Boden cardies but think the crop is a bit too short so am exchanging for a standard crew. The purple was a bit too bright, not too far off number 12. The green was a perfect match for number 28 and looked far better on despite being one star for me compared to 2 stars for the purple.

QueenCardigan · 27/09/2014 07:55

Ooh stokey which is 28. Is it emetald .

Nive dress mimi. Will keep an eye out for shoes.

QueenC it's dark emerald. They call it leprechaun Hmm

QueenCardigan · 27/09/2014 08:05

Looks lovely stokey. I don't do cashmere unfortunately I'm too tight as I'd be worried about dd ruining it.

Stokey · 27/09/2014 08:12

I swore off after a moth invasion three years ago killed all my jumpers but have gradually been moving back - it's just so soft. And fingers crossed not too many moths in the new house. Am vainly hoping the DDs are old enough not to smear sticky fingers on me!

MrPop · 28/09/2014 08:08

I live in fear of moths!

Sorrel sorry am so late to comment but really pleased you like the frame straight jeans. They seemed great quality, and such a bargain. Shame you are not so keen on le garcon but sounds like they will be better for casual looks.

SorrelForbes · 28/09/2014 09:51

That's OK MrPop. I'm just pleased that my jean shopping is now done for at least another year or so although the Jigsaw boyfriend jeans look nice

Yesterday I had a mooch around West Quay in Southampton. I bought a couple of grey vest tops from H&M but that was it. I tried on these 'pleather' skirts from Zara:

Aubergine skirt

Black skirt

The first one was very thin and clingy (and I sized up to an L) and the colour was too brown. Nice shape though. The second one was better but the M was too tight and they didn't have an L (why does Zara always make me feel massive?!) in black. I may order it both in an L and have another try on at home.

fooogle · 28/09/2014 11:38

You didn't 'win' the maxmara one on eBay then sorrel?
I tried a wardrobe tidy today and I have way too many cashmere v necks sweaters (all charity ones I hasten to add). Felt a bit embarrassed as have lots of clothes that I don't wear, do you folk? Would love to be all capsuley but am too much a bargain hunter!
Found a maxmara grey 'teddy bear?' Coat the other day. Has v wide lapels. Not sure it's my shape but no doubt I'll hoard it!
What style types suit wide lapels? Is that a dramatic too?

MrPop · 28/09/2014 16:17

Fooogle aren't those coats v v expensive?

Just to update on my boring dyeing shoes sage - I have done 2 bottles of the dye but think I just need one more to get them really inky black. Hope they don't scuff or run when I start wearing them! Not sure it has been worth it tbh

fooogle · 29/09/2014 06:58

Done some looking mrpop, the one I found is teddy bear coat material but belted so not the 1,500£ one! It's pretty well used and some lining is torn but it's as near as I'll get to a really posh coat I expect! Rather liking the baukjen one

fooogle · 29/09/2014 07:04

mrpop, done so googling now and it's not 'the' teddy bear one. It's belted and thAt isn't and it's grey but it's the same slightly furry material. £1500 for that though! Hmm ! One I found has been well worn and linings a bit shot but it's the nearest I'll get spect dp will laugh at it when I'm brave enough to present yet another coat!
Like this one too coat
Hope your shoes behave.

MissScatterbrain · 29/09/2014 09:42

Mr Pop - which dye did you use? I found the dylon shoe dye to be really effective, no rubbing off etc. I still have a bit left and recently used it on the DC's school shoes to remove scuff marks.

MrPop · 29/09/2014 11:48

I used tarrago (sp?) I think it is quite good but I am trying to get the boots from tan to black - quite a change. Have used Dylon for clothes and think they are good.

Fooogle your coat sounds nice, I like the 'furry' coats. If it was 'the coat' it would have been quite something to find in your local charity shop!!

fooogle · 29/09/2014 12:06

Yes, I was pretty excited just getting any maxmara coat as they seem to go for loads on ebay even if I didn't keep it. If it had been 'the' one I may have felt like a lottery winner Grin...

Today I am mostly wearing, gap fitted grey polkadot shirt, black jaeger 7/8th (again), navy maxmara vintage long collarless blazer thing...trying wild rose korres lipbalm stain thing will I never be satisfied with just one lippy Anyone tried the Revlon matt stick ones in standout or sultry?

MrPop · 01/10/2014 10:54

Just bumping us back from page 4!

What are you guys wearing at the mo? Autumn stuff or still hanging on to summer stuff?

I have organised my clothes into a capsule wardrobe - kind of like project 333 for the next 3 months - to get me wearing stuff I don't wear and to stop me buying new stuff - in theory.

Today am dressed down in breton stripes and hush harems.

Fooogle are your jaeger 7/8th trousers a charity purchase? I fancy a pair.

Was just idly looking at whistles to see if there is anything worth buying with the grazia discount.

Like this ice blue skirt

and this sweatshirt

Stokey · 01/10/2014 11:14

Well done MrPop

Hush harems are on my AW wish list. I like that ice blue skirt but the next skirt I buy has to be a Midi I think - I've bought loads of pencil skirts this year (5 Blush). I like this green one or faux white leather one.

I'm in between seasons too, I was too hot yesterday and too cold today in a navy pencil skirt, white shell top and Zara green jungle jacket.

I'm still not sure about the Boden cardie. I sent the cropped one back and got the longer one but tried it this morning and it didn't work... maybe it's just not meant to be.

I'm trying not to spend money but there are so many things I want for AW... it's hard!

SorrelForbes · 01/10/2014 12:38

Today I am wearing dark blue GAP navy boyfriend cords (which fit like straight legs), a black mango blouse, a lobelia crew neck cardigan and black patent heels.

I've just been given a new ID card holder for one of the sites I contract for and the neck cord/ribbon thing is pale blue and orange. Not good!

carrie74 · 01/10/2014 14:17

Today I'm wearing Zara stripey navy work trews, a white Gap crew neck LS top, a neon pink Primark scarf with pom poms and R&B black ponyskin loafers. Have been wearing much the same for ages - too warm for a cardie / jacket (except in the mornings), but not quite warm enough for a SS Tee.

Off to NYC tomorrow morning [SQUEEE], and weather due to be fairly similar - 19-22, so at least I'll know what to wear...

MissScatterbrain · 01/10/2014 14:36

Lobelia crew neck cardigan today here as well - with navy & white striped Gap t shirt and indigo skinnies.

Its a bit cooler this week so have started wearing my black ankle boots and black moleskin Boden blazer (bought 2/3 years ago) when I go out. Too warm for scarves though.

Have a great time in NYC Carrie - v. jealous!

Stokey · 01/10/2014 16:08

Ponyskin r&B loafers sounds great Carrie, have an ace time in NYC, hope you get to shop.

And I like the sound of the lobelia cardies Sorrel and MissS. I think I'm coming to the conclusion that I need a cropped cardie for dresses and skirts and a long v one for skinnies - although they look a bit weird under jackets... Cardigan crisis - QueenC can you help?!

QueenCardigan · 01/10/2014 18:50

stokey I heard the cardigan call Grin. I don't tend to wear cropped cardis and they fall above my hips and make me feel wide but I do thnk they look better with skirts and dresses. I love long cardigans but don't wear them as they make my arse look huge but yes, I wouldn't wear a jacket over them. I'm just a normal crew neck cardi girl.

carrie have a fab time

Oo watching cardi tips with interest.
mrpop will look up 333 capsule wardrobe, I basically recycle 3 work outfits as work part time. Feels bit blooming dull though and not using enough of the things I have.
Jaeger 7/8th were ebay I'm afraid. They're only cotton though so won't be on much longer. They fit really well though.
Am living in fear of moths munching all stuff in wardrobe...
Today, ice pink linen shirt buttoned up, indigo blue vintage jacket (finest polyester m and s!), jaeger 7/8ths again and nude pointy flats...

didireallysaythat · 01/10/2014 20:45

mrpop I found a lapel-less jacket in Jaegar. Not in love with it but I need it for presentations next week. Not sure it's natural romantic but it's not offensive !!
