Hmmm, sounds like Le High Straight might be ok for me as I actually need thick non-stretchy fabric that doesn't' mould around my bumpy inners!

The Le Garcon certainly seemed thicker and less stretchy than the Paige, J Brand, 74AM, MiH, CoH etc. that I tried.

I had a 28 in the faded ones and they are 'slouching up' a bit after a day's wear and a 29 in the black although I think I should have stuck with the 28 as I bet they'll sag! If I ordered the Le High Straight, do you reckon a 28?

BodminPill · 21/09/2014 20:49

Ahem, whilst I am still deciding if I am actually a summer andot a winter after all, has anyone seen this scarf? www.johnlewis.com/somerset-by-alice-temperley-tapestry-silk-square/p771769?colour=Black,%20Multi

Probably a moot point if I am a summer as it's not exactly muted Wink

Anyone know where I can find reasonable priced silk square scarves - patterned but not floral printed ?

Thanks

MrPop sorry I missed your question.

If I understand what a natural romantic needs, I'm looking for a blazer (single breasted) with rounded lapels if any, buttoning with one or two buttons lowish down, preferably so that you don't present an angular triangle but a rounded neck line.

Yeah - doesn't exist, does it ?

New plan, winter navy top, low neck with curved line or cowl, possibly beltable to go with denim jeans. And I'll need a belt. Sleeves as I don't have Madonna's arms, but half or three quarters long.

I'm good at knowing what I'd like. Trouble is I never find it and hence I panic buy crazy things....

Any help much appreciated !

Oh, while buying socks for the kids I noticed quite a lot of burgundy in H&M

MrPop · 22/09/2014 09:30

Sorrel I'm not sure about sizing - they did feel much less stretchy but I didn't keep them on long enough to know if they would bag. Matches has a standard delivery charge though and free returns so I would buy a range of sizes (28 and 29) and then see how they feel and which fit better.

Thanks for the brief DidI - I will have a look to see if I can spot anything! And keep it in mind when I do my inevitable surfing of internet retailers Grin

Wearing my grey t-shirt and damson cardigan combo again today - think it goes well together. With jeans and animal print flats.

MrPop · 22/09/2014 09:44

boden scoop neck in navy

jigsaw cowl neck

Charli cowl

short sleeve cowl

Blazers are difficult

Some suggestions, not sure if I have got what you mean though:

East

Hobbs

Violetta

not really a blazer

Stokey · 22/09/2014 12:28

Glad you had jeans success Sorrel.

It felt properly wintery this morning - I'm working from home so am in skinnies, black ankle boots, grey long-sleeved top, red and cobalt scarf and black leather jacket (for school run). I think I need winter tops and cardies. Has anyone tried the Boden cashmere? I like this green one despite the ludicrous colour name, but it's already an 8-week wait for the 10. I may try the 8 but normally size up in cardies. The green may be a bit blue for us too, am after a proper pine green really.

NowhereNow · 22/09/2014 13:02

DidI - if you cropped this coat to a blazer with a curved hem, is this the kind of style you mean?

www.pinterest.com/pin/382313455841364537/

Apologies, I've lost the ability to do links on the mobile site - the double brackets doesn't seem to work for me anymore.

NowhereNow · 22/09/2014 13:04

Ooh, it's magically a link!

NowhereNow · 22/09/2014 13:08

Stokey, I'm also keeping an eye out for a green cardi. There's a rich emerald boyfriend cardigan from Pure Collection if you like that style:

www.purecollection.com/m/clothing/cashmere-clothing_1/cashmere_boyfriend_cardigan_rich_emerald.htm

Expensive, but they do always have loads of codes to bring the price down a little.

mimiasovitch · 22/09/2014 16:51

I LOVE that coat. Shame the link on pinterest tells us nothing. That cardi is nice too nowhere, but I would need a large discount. Damn you new garden path.

NowhereNow · 23/09/2014 21:37

Anyone like rocketdog stuff? They have a "sneakers for £15"promotion on at the minute.

www.rocketdog.co.uk/Category/?F1=casuals

My favourites are out of stock in my size (8), but I'm contemplating a neutral pair instead.

QueenCardigan · 24/09/2014 07:16

Morning. It's finally autumn and can wear boots and cardigans! I've just been admiring my navy nails (barry m navy) in the shower Grin

bodmin I was in m&s yesterday but couldn't see that red bag.

Mornin' Winters. Ramble alert.
Everyone is finding such lovely things!
I am continuing my usual ferreting in charities. Yesterday I succumbed to: white slim fit gap shirt, Boden chunky cable knit jumper in navy, some J Brand jeans (wide leg navy), some Clarks heeled brogues, a kind of cool pink nude Topshop soft blazer, a black vintage velvet jacket with burgundy satin lapel and also bought from Ebay a navy vintage jaeger one with a curved collar (may be bad impulse buy).
didireallysaythat would this be the kind of blazer or not so much?
I am debating buying some black leather knee boots but are they 'out' in fashion terms? Brantano has a offer code off some... or quite like these?
Also wonder about these? www.clarks.co.uk/p/26103986 I'm looking for the perfect every day boot with skinnies/skirts etc for the whole of winter... though prob will just wear my converse anyway. These maybe too high for me...
Today I am mostly wearing black 7/8ths, black shirt, cool nude blazer and trying my new NARS Cruella lip pencil. Apparently I am 'rockin' the 80's well' says DP Hmm --not sure that is what I was goin for!

Stokey · 24/09/2014 10:13

Wow Fooogle sounds like you've got some great charity shops near you - ours are just filled with Primark and George! Funny what comments people make - the temp receptionist just told me she loves my vintage style... I didn't realise my style was vintage!

I'm being tempted by the green Boden cardi again as it's 15% off. I also like the purple one they have. I looked at the Pure collection too Nowhere but am really after a round necked one. I like this navy one or the red but not sure about cropped sleeves - I think I'll get cold wrists.

If anyone is after anything from Hobbs, there was 20% off for the next week in today's Stylist withe the code STYLIST.

fooogle · 24/09/2014 10:22

Yeah stokey I think I suffer with cold wrists. I think I won't be then I do when it is actual winter!

Maybe we have goodish charities, its not Chelsea or anything but is London so a mix of peeps, there is a lot of primark and the like but I do look A LOT! Wondering if there is a business I can start using my 'talent' (hup hmm) but not sure what. I am buying more than I can wear Blush My friend thought maybe there was a colours aspect I could use but not sure what! I have a black cropped cashmere type one I bought a while back but realized that actually I like a bit more warmth around my lower regions Wink.

What do you wear for footwear? Knee highs or ankles or..

Stokey · 24/09/2014 10:38

I'm wearing brogues today with black opaques and a green pencil skirt - Clarks ones but not heeled. They are so comfy.

Last winter I wore ankle boots a lot, I've got a pair of Chelsea ones with a square heel and some black suede ones. Quite a few people on the Vogue thread have recommended the Sam Edelman Pettys. But I think knee-length ones are in too as part of the 60s trend, worn with a short skirt like this or this.

Phew - long post, I'm in London too but maybe am just not dedicated enough.

fooogle · 24/09/2014 11:32

Maybe I need some of those opaque tights that are super thermal to make me try more skirts and fewer trousers [stokey]. I just gravitate to the easy option of a morning...
Bloomin' missed the Brantano knee high ones note to self don't let everyone know about offer til you've bought your own! Grin.

Have you succumbed to the cashmere? They are all nice I just gulp at the prices.

I have some Chelsea boots that are metallic but they are a tiny bit rub-y so I haven't really worn. Need to break 'em in.

MissScatterbrain · 24/09/2014 12:09

Another sunny day here so its Gap skinny jeans with the bottoms rolled up, primark navy scoop neck top and lands end lobelia cardigan with topshop cowboy style ankle boots.

Bought a black Boden cashmere jumper in their sale (think I got it for £69) - its not warm enough yet to wear it though. This is supposed to be my investment buy for this season...

Am also wearing Barry M's plum nail polish - it looks like royal purple in the bottle but after two coats its more of a indigo.

carrie74 · 24/09/2014 12:12

Ooh, lovely links! Fooogle, I know of someone who buys cheap at car boot sales (and possibly charity shops) and resells on ebay for profit. She doesn't just buy clothes though, also household things. I don't think she's making her millions, but she's doing ok, and has considered doing it FT. Have seen those Clarks ankle boots linked a lot online, but I'm not sure about them, think I'd need to see them on.

I've got an old pair of riding boot-type things, but I don't think I wore them at all last winter - I stuck with the ankle boots. I've got a pair of Sam Edelman Poseys, which are basically the Pettys but with chains across them. I've actually got the tan (pre diagnosis), but they're really good. But as Stokey says, long boots are supposed to be in again this winter!

fooogle · 24/09/2014 13:02

Thanks Carrie that's interesting re person who does it as a kinda job. Part of me feels its a bit naughty somehow selling on though I do sell some on ebay myself but can't imagine it would make me more than my pretty mundane office work if I quit. Wondered if I could somehow be a personal charity shop shopper but maybe that is just mad!

Sam Edelman ones seem popular. Nearly bought some last year but didn't for some reason and have some tan clarks ones but find the tops are a bit 'flappy' and don't look quite right. (also have wide calves so they kinda don't help narrow them?) or am I just being picky? The pic is them.

HOC winter thread. The cool and clear chat continues. Part 4.
Stokey · 24/09/2014 14:24

Oh I like those Fooogle, very like the Sam Edelman ones. I bought some of his sandals in the summer and they are so comfy,I'd definitely buy some boots... although will wait for a discount.

I saw on the HOC summers thread (I am far too nosey) they were listing some Uniqlo colours that worked for summers and thought it was a good idea as their colour numbers are the same throughout heir range.

I've just been in there and the www.uniqlo.com/uk/store/goods/126397 79 dark purple is a reasonable match for the 20 damson. I also really like their 66 which they call blue. It's not an exact match but seems to fit somewhere between the 8-12 in the swatches of purple and blue. On the pther hand I don't think their greens - 53 and 54 - are right for us, they seem too bluey.

BodminPill · 24/09/2014 18:58

Thanks for looking Queen I've ordered this in the meantime to check out bananarepublic.gap.co.uk/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=000116313A014-17398 as I generally really like BR's handbags.

It's not exactly what I was looking for, but it might fit the bill. The only downside is the hardware isn't pure silver, it's a very pale gold, as is the case with a few of their bags that I own, but hasn't really been a problem so far.

SorrelForbes · 25/09/2014 12:44

MrPop The Le Straight jeans arrived this morning. I ordered a 28 and whilst they are snug, they're tight in a good, solidly holding everything in kind of way.

I'm really pleased and at the same time fuming with myself for buying the Le Garcon slouchy one which aren't as nice but I've now worn and can't return

QueenCardigan · 25/09/2014 14:16

foogle really interesting concept but would it take the fun out of it if you had to visit loads of charity shops day in, day out?

I wore my knee high boots a couple of times last year but they didn't really feel right. They do keep your legs lovely and warm though. Othetwise I wear ankle boots as I've gone off my converse.

Lovely bag bodmin. I love BR bags too.

Stokey · 25/09/2014 15:27

I seem to have ordered two Boden cardies, a green one in 8 and a purple one in 10. One or both will definitely go back but I wanted to judge the colours in RL and compare to the swatches. Hopefully a green 10 won't be the winner as there is an 8 week wait.
