I also ordered this top before I went away. I love it. Absolutely perfect for me.

I'm planning on going for a style day soon. One of the ladies who did the colour day with me wanted to do it in September, so she (the consultant) was going to call me. It's ridiculous really. I know what styles I like and feel good in, so why do I need a name for it? I guess I like to categorise things, and maybe I'll find it easier to accept that I'll never look or feel right in the skinny jeans loose top combo that I would love to wear, if its because its wrong for my style, not just because I'm overweight.

mimiasovitch · 30/08/2014 15:14

Oh, and I love that no.7 polish. If I didn't work in a restaurant and find myself washing my hands a million times a day, it'd be barely off my fingernails.

MrPop · 30/08/2014 19:43

Welcome back QueenC. I am rubbish with nail polish and just buy magazines to get them free.

Mimi was it you who mentioned buying a wishbone top?

I just bought this cardigan

Spotted a few other lovely things on the JL website
skirt
pink skirt
top
dress which I wish was in my size!
top
green??

Sorrel shame you missed the dresses delivery - was interested to hear what they are like.

Mimi I know what I like to wear but I am kind of intrigued by the style day too, I also like to fit in to a category and I guess I am just intrigued. It sounds like it can make things quite complicated when it comes to buying things - this would be no bad thing for me, need some barriers in place. Am going to try for a no spend September, so will try to reduce my time on line as much as I can Sad

QueenCardigan · 30/08/2014 20:00

Love that cardi mrpop.

I found the style day really good although I had a fairly good idea what suited me. But I often worried that some stuff I like could be frumpy (I like a few bits of fatface and white stuff etc) but now I realise that's what suits me and so it's given me permission to wear it iyswim. I've become much more confident in what I wear especially evenings out when I'll go more the trousers and blouse rather than feeling that I should wear a dress.

I like that cardi, but bit too chunky for me. Good job, as I've been overspending a bit. I bought 2 of the linea merino cardis linked to earlier, and I have to say I love them. Absolutely perfect colours.

NowhereNow · 30/08/2014 23:28

I think I know what definitely doesn't suit me, but I tend to wear the same type of outfits all the time. When I get around to doing the style day I'm hoping it will make me become a bit more adventurous.

OmblibooTombliboo · 31/08/2014 00:07

Do people think this is a winter shade?

fooogle · 31/08/2014 06:49

Think so ombli though navy's are hard to be sure about sometimes. Looks like a useful coat. Like the dipped hem.

ThePerfectNegroni · 31/08/2014 08:40

I liked this consultant on facebook the other week. She regularly updates her page with clothes ideas and talks about clothing styles too. Really proactive and a great read. And she's a winter romantic natural too.

Hi, spent a day shopping yesterday and picked up my A/W wardrobe in one hit :)

Along with staple trousers/jeggings and indigo cords from M and S I bought the following for my sultry winter nat/class/ing personality

www.johnlewis.com/collection-weekend-by-john-lewis-saddle-shoulder-v-neck-cardigan/p1631370?colour=Bright Green It's much brighter IRL

www.lauraashley.com/uk/jumpers/cable-stitch-wool-mix-peplum-hem-jumper/invt/jp318 this is awesome on a sultry!

Loved this from Marks www.marksandspencer.com/lattice-henley-top/p/p22326142?colour=Cranberry

cardigal · 31/08/2014 09:10

Laura Ashley link fail - if you're interested search 'cable crew neck' - it's the peplum hem one in 'evergreen'

QueenCardigan · 31/08/2014 13:42

ice blue parka. Thought I'd link as such an unusual colour to find a coat in.

Spent an hour and a half and a small fortune in Debenhams today with one of their personal shoppers. Then trawled round to find shoes to go with a gorgeous berry coloured pair of trousers that was part of my haul. Got home, tried it all on and DH criticised all of it. Now it's by the front door ready to go back. He's probably sulking because I didn't buy any underwear Must admit, I was a bit unsure on a few pieces but I loved the berry trousers and the shoes I found to go with them. I'll see if I can find links, will listen to you lot, you've got more fashion sense than DH!

littlecupcake · 31/08/2014 17:35

Trousers

littlecupcake · 31/08/2014 17:36

Shoes

Sorry, couldn't post both links on same message for some reason!

NowhereNow · 31/08/2014 17:57

I think your new trousers are lovely littlecupcake. Very tempted to try them on myself - the colour looks perfect! I vote you ignore your DH and wear them and feel fabulous Wink

mimiasovitch · 31/08/2014 18:01

It's like having a whole host of personal shoppers on here! Love that Laura Ashley sweater.

Now - help. Dh had just returned from the Far East with a bag for me. Ignoring the fact I requested allure perfume or silver/white gold jewellery, it's a lovely bag. It's orange. It's not as if I haven't talked his ear off about the whole colour thing. Anyway, anyone successfully dyed leather?

MrPop · 31/08/2014 18:57

I've never dyed leather Mimi I think I would be too nervous!

Little I think your trousers are nice and would be a useful wardrobe basic.

I really like that parka QueenC - I am drawn to ice blue but can imagine it getting grubby quickly.

So I'm going to pop over to the no spend September thread - wish me luck!

littlecupcake · 31/08/2014 19:28

Thanks Nowherenow and MrPop. I think I'm inclined to listen to you guys on this one! Maybe he's right about the shoes though - bit too blingy and he says they're like something my granny would wear. But what can I put with them (that'll go with jeans and grey boot cuts for work, too)?

MissScatterbrain · 31/08/2014 20:15

Love the berry trousers - I love loafers and often wear my black patent loafers for work now that these are back into fashion.

Re the orange bag - that would annoy me, grrr! I would gift it to someone who can use it rather than try and dye it - shoes are one thing but a bag would be very tricky...

ThePerfectNegroni · 31/08/2014 20:18

Mimi- you need to train your DH. I was on his phone a while ago and saw that he'd taken photos of my swatch book! It will avoid errors in the future. Unfortunately, he hasn't actually bought me anything using it though :(

QueenCardigan · 31/08/2014 21:19

cupcake it's really hard when dh don't like things isn't it. Much as I tell myself that it doesn't matter what he thinks I just can't enjoy wearing it so much if I know dh thinks it's awful. The trousers look great. The shoes aren't to m personal taste but if you love them keep them.
mimi that would really annoy me Grin. What's the point in a list if they go off piste?! Could you get it professionally dyed? People seem to do it with shoes so should work for bags. Maybe start a thread asking for advice?
Great shopping lego
