Continuing. From here some of us may have jetted off to far flung foreign parts, but we're still friendly, fabulous even in the heat wave and full of frivolous fashion talk. Come and join us Smile

Annie my last wedding ruined the heels I wore, as it was outside. The leather got frayed and pushed all the way up the heel. Will have to see if the shoe guy will fix them.

libertychick · 29/07/2014 12:21

Yes, you are right Marsha, I have just decided it must go back!! The fit is fine, it's a medium and large would be too big. It's the material as it shows up everything (including the little bow on my knickers Grin) and it's not lined. It looks ok with a slip underneath but that's too much faff and means it looks weird with shirts tucked in and I specifically wanted a navy skirt to wear with shirts/blouses for work.

MarshaBrady · 29/07/2014 12:46

Ah yes completely agree, slips are a faff, and uncomfortable and get all skewed. Erk.

I just laughed at the blog of the day on the side bar, the beach body one. The part where children climb all over you as the sand is too hot. It's a different ball game to lounging around dc-free. And having to adjust swimwear all the time, and not wanting strap marks being incompatible without everything.

libertychick · 29/07/2014 14:10

That is funny Smile

BrandyAlexander · 29/07/2014 17:55

Hello! Happy days! Drinks and dinner out tonight with dh. Wearing a flattering Ann Taylor orange dress accessorised with a selection of bling that dh has given me since we got married - tiffany studs, Hermes watch, solitaire ring, wedding band and the bangle I wore on wedding day.Trio sapphire and diamond pendant. Plus two me gifts! My pearl and diamond earrings I wore on my wedding day and tanzanite and diamond halo ring. I am Pat Butcher!Grin Also got my pink Chloe Marcie, favourite old black wedges (just call me Kate!) and also my favourite perfume!

Thanks everyone, you're right it mostly depends on the weather. It's do good right now I could happily skip airports and stay in the UK. But if it rains I'll wish we were elsewhere!

maradesbois · 29/07/2014 23:09

Evening,

Annie not living in London full time atm but need to move down there properly within next year or so & thus busy trying to sort house, schools etc. Not just sticking pins in the map but we do have lots of narrowing down to do.

Liberty don't need P&K when I have you! Seriously though, thanks for practical advice. We are probably less vague about it all than I come across on the thread. Transport is key, looking at commuting distances on map is not same as actually having to do it, not getting seat etc so quality of life is very important. We are both more west of centre (I am in Marsha's twilight zone!) so not at all city etc. I don't actually think either of us is ready to invest in very expensive property in a city we don't yet know properly so we may end up renting somewhere bigger for longer. Schools obviously really important too & other factors you mention. I am going to pm you actually as one of the places we've considered is not to far from you.

Marsha a friend of mine just got back from hols in Southwold in Suffolk & raved about how lovely it was, pretty painted beach huts etc. Hear what you're saying about wanting guaranteed good weather though.

I have no style & beauty news whatsoever but on a final note can add that my potential potato throwee got his comeuppance today without injury to an innocent maris piper!

maradesbois · 29/07/2014 23:11

too far

libertychick · 29/07/2014 23:56

Oh I am curious Mara... you do get a seat on the train out my way!! Good to hear that karma is working well and all potatoes are safe Smile

Essay writing keeps me in the fashion game even if the rest of you have given up. Just ordered M&S trench coat in silver grey and these nude flats as recommended by BelindaWO. I not 100% sure about the flats but I have to go and pick up the coat so may as well try something else at the same time.

If the trench works and I get the R&B flats then I am officially not spending until the winter sales - well apart from 3 exceptions always have to have little outs on these things

  1. I still need the perfect navy skirt
  2. I have £80 in Whistles vouchers (via Sleep) that have to be spent before Feb I think. May get a blazer.
  3. I have £50 in JL vouchers as a back up if I really need a treat and let's face it I am sure to need one sometime between now and Christmas
annielewis · 30/07/2014 00:36

liberty who or what is BelindaWO? Is it a fashion blog - tried googling but to no avail!

I didn't know about the other one WIT perfect lady I have sooo much to learn

Mara - I am really curious where you end up moving to! I love living in London with the kids, I know a lot of people can be quite negative about bringing kids up here.. Guess it depends how old yours are though, mine are still little so I am still quite new to it and haven't had to deal with them wanting independence and worrying about them travelling alone etc.. Also - I loooove house hunting! Should have been an estate agent because obviously I can't be Kirsty which would be much more preferable

AmberNectarine · 30/07/2014 07:07

Wandering in on the subject of hoodies - I have an American Apparel one which is very good, but they are quite pricey - H&M do near identical ones for £20ish.

Hope all well - back when I can fully engage, but waving the Voguette flag in Viv Westwood red label skirt today.

shopafrolic · 30/07/2014 07:07

Bonjour tout Le monde! Comment ça va?

Absolutely no chance of me catching up. It is so beautiful here. The property is stunning, the salt water swimming pool is heated to 32 degrees, the sun is shining and the wine is amazing. All is so so good. DS is loving having a buddy to play with, and DHnis more relaxed than I have seen him in years. Lots of pics on FB for those who know me. A bientôt xx

libertychick · 30/07/2014 07:51

Sounds fab shop.

Hello amber. Skirt sounds great. Hope things ease up for you soon.

Annie on my phone and have not mastered links! BelindaWO is on MN. Look in the S&B board for a thread with work wear edit in the title. It is a very good thread for work wear and lots of the links are good for more casual wear as well. It's all high street so affordable. Her blog is called the work wear edit too.

WIT is a blog called Wearing It Today.

BrandyAlexander · 30/07/2014 08:29

groan. morning everyone. i have a hangover and I am on a train on way to an all day meeting. grim. I also feel like I have eaten my body weight in food in one meal! We had the 7 course meal at nobu. champagne to start with then bottle of sancerre for main. then we went to one of those private bars mainly for rich Russian oligarchs and had cocktails. great night which dh almost ruined by suddenly picking up his phone to read an email at the table. I was furious and quietly told him that I deserved all of his attention for just one night. He was sheepish I worked through my fury and then decided to let it go. Grrr! or right now...ugh.

QueenCardigan · 30/07/2014 08:56

Oh novice I did wonder if you'd have a hangover.
lib can't believe you're ready for AW.
amber hope things ok. I've found a cheapie hoodie in uniqlo I will order I think as delivery is quick and could do with it before going up north next week.
annie Belinda is on the all worn out blog although hardly posts on there anymore. She now has a workwear edit blog and as lib says, there's a thread about it. I don't work but I like lurking on the thread as her workwear stuff is similar to the sort of stuff I wrar to go out in (cropped trousers, blouses etc)

No fashion news from me. Still in shorts/vests as very hot here still. We have dh annual team BBQ tomorrow night where we entertain 30 of his team/juniors. It may be cooler tomorrow but am hoping to wear the blue mango dress.

Drywhiteplease · 30/07/2014 09:04

novice sounds like a fab night.
