Continuing. From here some of us may have jetted off to far flung foreign parts, but we're still friendly, fabulous even in the heat wave and full of frivolous fashion talk. Come and join us Smile

I should add they were a great spot by Shop in case that sounded ungrateful. Just hard to know with flats as need lots of shoe. If that makes sense!

Drywhiteplease · 02/08/2014 15:33

Well, after 8 weeks of builders and being totally and unusually chilled about the disruption I felt myself about to flip this morning Sad went to gym before I exploded. There is mess EVERYWHERE Sad oand a week away, leaving DH incharge, has not improved matteres. Our ideas of "tidy" are very different.
It appears the bigger the extension gets, the more crap gets squeezed in the untouched living space. It's like "A squash and a Squeeze" my house will seem huge it kind of is when everything is back in its place come Sept/Oct.
And I can't find anything! Trying to packSad

MOAN over.

BUT......I have discovered at my age Shock how unbelievably brilliant a pair of denim shorts can be. QueenC you'd love the Gap sexy bf denim shorts in dark wash. Go with everything.

My holiday packing so far:
Gap sexy bf shorts.
Vest tops.
Flip flops .

Ha ha Marsha I did think after I had pinned that scarf that you probably wouldn't with an orange bag and pink shoes Grin - you have that lovely pale blue (is it pale blue?) Acne one from last year don't you? - I remember it as I'd like the same one in grey.

I don't have builders Dry but my house is a shambles ATM and I feel too tired today to do anything about it. As playgroup is closed for the summer DH doesn't have his usual free time for cleaning/tidying and I've been too busy with study. I keep looking around wondering where to start. And now you have me wanting those shorts too!

Drywhiteplease · 02/08/2014 16:52

The shorts are another MNV thing for me Liberty
I've always hated shorts, or rather my legs in shorts, but I've discovered a funny thing; the shorter you go obv not hot pant, bum cheek revealing Shock the more flattering they are. Perhaps the more leg on show the longer your leg looks. Hmm a generous layer of fake tan helps Grin. Try them. I got them in Oxford st branch, the darker wash.

Liberty ha I'm one stop away from a traffic light as it is. Yes I have the cornflower blue one, I really like it for size and shape. I saw the ones you pinned I think, and thought they looked really lovely. I would like a new colour, grey sounds good.

Dry hang in there kiddo, sounds tough, holidays soon.

Drywhiteplease · 02/08/2014 17:13

Grin I've just been out and said " who the heck is singing "Go West" because it sounds bloody awful and isn't going to make my neighbours very happy......and the comment "you can beat an egg, you can beat Man U but you can't beat your wife" was pretty awful too"....... Blimey I'm getting braveGrin .....

Hello All,

Liberty ah! I love the scarves you linked! particularly the burberry cashmere for shop and I but ouch at the price! Will be starting an a/w wish list board with it nonetheless.

Novice would think the Madewell top not best shape for you. I can see you with a loose top tucked in or more fitted styles.

Dry I feel for you re the mess. Cannot handle the dust from builders and any work we get done seems to drag on and on. Have a big house too and there's always something needing done.

Having a lovely London day, combination of causal area exploring with plenty of stops for coffee, parks and nice lunch. Marsha we were round your way amongst other places this morning just weighing things up. Some lovely classic architecture and so calm once away from main roads. Think I was keener than dh, tried to sell it to him when we took a break in a hipster cafe (although we are both so non-hipster!) with good coffee etc.

Also popped into kate Spade to exchange a birthday present that was faulty. Got a silver bangle, will try and link later, couldn't find it on website.

maradesbois · 02/08/2014 18:05

This is new bangle, love it!

Also meant to welcome Theoldhag, am sure you are neither! Maybe look at the Scottish cashmere brands for scarf such as Hawick, Johnstons etc. I found this which is wrong colourway but think right shape.

Nice Mara still listing after your Hermes black wrap though Envy

MarshaBrady · 02/08/2014 18:11

Mara I'm so intrigued! By your description you were probably close. Can you remember the name of the cafe? It wasn't Toast was it? That's my favourite locally. I go once a week for double espresso.

maradesbois · 02/08/2014 18:38

Don't think so Marsha, didn't pay attention to name but it was opposite a small hotel/tapas place. We looked around all the calm leafy streets, same period but bigger houses than the other place not far away but closer to town that looked at the other week.

MarshaBrady · 02/08/2014 19:05

Aha dh has come back raving about a new cafe at the bottom of the road in the other direction, Daily Goods he thinks.

AmberNectarine · 02/08/2014 19:07

Mara I so nearly bought that bangle yesterday! Instead I bought these - nice little pick me up in the midst of a lot of crap.

LinusDKD · 02/08/2014 19:20

Evening!

Lovely bracelet mara! I wore my Hermès leather bracelet today as well, I love it. It has discoloured slightly on one side, probably because
I haven't taken it off to wash my hands and do the dishes etc.

dry I have been looking for the perfect denim shorts, but no luck. I tried the Gap ones when I was in London but unfortunately they didn't look good on me.

I do agree about short shorts, they do seem to make you look slimmer and leggy-er

My house is a tip as well for the same reason as Liberty's. When the DC are home from nursery I just don't have the time to to much tidying up. One more week....

Drywhiteplease · 02/08/2014 19:41

Gosh Amber those are fierce ....fabulous!!!!

OP posts:
LinusDKD · 02/08/2014 19:45

Wow amber! I think novice needs to let mrnovice have a look at these. Wink

Drywhiteplease · 02/08/2014 19:58

linus I've seen your legs and if I can wear those shorts you really can ........

OP posts:
Drywhiteplease · 02/08/2014 20:04

here is a look I could never pull off! I'd look a prat!!!

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 02/08/2014 20:07

There are very few people in this world that could do that look Dry! Perhaps a petite student.

LinusDKD · 02/08/2014 20:14

I think even the model in that picture can't pull off that look!

Maybe Alexa Chung or a petite young Frenchwoman?

I was gutted when those shorts didn't look good on me dry! I had been lusting after them for a while but I can't buy Gap over here (and the US site p&p is ridiculous) but they just weren't for me.

Drywhiteplease · 02/08/2014 20:14

marsha you've got me thinking about city shorts btw....think they would be perfect for my job.

I saw a very elegant woman on the tube yesterday wearing white skinny jeans, snake skin flat pointy sling backs and a dark charcoal grey silk shirt worn un tucked, she had a fab black tote bag which I couldn't identify. And a super sleek bob. Such a simple look. Made me want to invest in silk shirts for autumn.

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 02/08/2014 20:16

Dry you'd look great in city shorts and a silk shirt. I really would love to do a silk shirt, Linus I think you look amazing in the Equipment one at the mu - am I right? I think that's what you were wearing!

I always think I'll ruin a silk shirt, but it's such a chic look.

MarshaBrady · 02/08/2014 20:18

And just as I say that this sails past on pin. I love smart shorts.

LinusDKD · 02/08/2014 20:23

I LOVE my Equipment silk shirts (I have a white one, a navy one and a royal blue one) and any excuse to wear them is good enough for me.

They are such a great cut, fall and drape beautifully and the silk feels lovely on my skin. I always associated silk shirts with frilly barmaid tops until I bought one of these. I feel sexy but not tarty in them.
