powder BEFORE foundation, yes seriously!

Just read this tip on another thread but it deserves it's very own threadGrin

Google Wayne Goss make up artist, he's my new crush and tells you to moisturise, prime, powder THEN foundation!Shock

Just tried it and it works a treat , didn't even need concealer! Makes perfect sense as it fills pores and I'd a key for the foundation!

You can use mineral foundation too and then liquid foundation.

He also does a video about a tip for eye liner that's worth watching.

I just tried face lasagne-works brilliantly, it actually eliminates cakiness bizarrely.

Well I forgot to do this today, but loving the idea of face lasagne Grin

Just did face lasagne on certain problem areas of my face and our looks surprisingly natural even for the day.

I tried it this morning, all was looking good until I did blusher when it all went a bit patchy and weird.

However aside from that it's not bad, doesn't look more natural though I must say, it just looks the same as usual but I'll see how it is at the end of the day to see if it stays nice for longer.

Just tried this. Definitely something in it. Am going to give it a whirl next week with new powder purchased over the weekend :-)

This is boggling my mind... do you put the powder on so it's a full coverage, or just a light dusting??

Well my skin does look better than it usually does at this time of day- not shiny at all and not chalky, just a perfect balance and glow.

I also don't have sunglasses dents like I usually get.

I just put on a normal amount of powder first that I'd use if that makes sense!

I tried this weeks ago and it looked crap.

I put it on this morning and wasn't at all impressed. It looked cakey.
I didn't have time to start again so I just gave it a quick swirl with a kabuki brush and ran out the door.

I have to say, it looks great now! I'll try it again to see before I'm a convert but it has lasted and looks good.

Wow - just tried this and it's fab! It seems to reduce the visibility of pores and give a good balance - neither too shiny nor too powdery/matt. I guess how well it works probably depends in what kind of skin you've got though. It's perfect for my pores and combination skin. Thanks OP!

I'm still looking ok, make up has stayed on much better and less cakey!

Couldn't watch it after the 'slightly special needs about make up' quote, what an utter tosser.

I tried it and thought it was rubbish. It's just another gimmick to garner YouTube views.

Not mad keen on Wayne Goss at the best of times but his 'special needs' comment is completely out of order.

And his winged liner looks shit.

I am going to give it a go, although I suspect that as he has such good skin it will look much better on him than me.

is the charlotte tilbury foundation worth the money? I've never heard of her before but need new foundation as my current one is too drying.

Look at his blog, he says 'who doesn't want something big and meaty in their hand?' Then totally gets the giggles and loses his train of thoughtGrin

I might email him about the special needs comment, which video does he say that?

A lot of beauty bloggers/vloggers are mentioning Charlotte Tilbury lately so I suspect a lot of PR samples have been sent out. That always makes me wary. Doesn't mean it isn't good but you know, get the salt cellar out before deciding.

This powder first thing feels so wrong. Like putting your knickers on over your jeans.

I'll try it tomorrow.

does it really not depend on product compatibility?
sometimes I've dabbed on more foundation, over my powdered foundation, as an extra coverage when didn't have concealer to hand (e.g. around eyes ) and always got a cakey, tide mark effect
however, am prepared to try some combo's myself as have enough different brands of powders and foundations hanging around ….

I had a go this morning after reading this thread and was v v impressed. I had some lili lolo mineral foundation in my make up drawer and put that on after primer. Then my liquid foundation, and then more powder. My make-up didn't have the horrible damp/tacky feel I don't like. It has also stayed on much better today and with less shine. Am a convert. I also watched some of Wayne Goss's tutorials and think they're really good. I tried his smokey eye for older eyes and my eye make-up looked far better than usual. Also watched some of his top tips and am going to be testing them out.

It's already cost me a bomb as I went to Debenhams in my lunch hour and ended up buying an Urban Decay Naked pallette and primer and some new make-up brushes! Eeeeek.

Oh I forgot to say I also tried his pore minimising technique for applying foundation when I reached the liquid foundation stage this morning, by using a brush in a circular motion in one direction and then in the opposite direction. Definitely looks better. As he has 600+ videos, I will be beautifully made up but probably broke soon.
