Just read this tip on another thread but it deserves it's very own threadGrin

Google Wayne Goss make up artist, he's my new crush and tells you to moisturise, prime, powder THEN foundation!Shock

Just tried it and it works a treat , didn't even need concealer! Makes perfect sense as it fills pores and I'd a key for the foundation!

You can use mineral foundation too and then liquid foundation.

He also does a video about a tip for eye liner that's worth watching.

I tried it with no 7 colour match foundation and pressed powder. It just feels lovely smoothing the foundation on and a pp very right about needing less concealer. I would hazard a guess I stayed matter for twice as long today with this method Grin

It's a twattish thing to say, doesn't mean he's bad person, he needs educating. If he still said it after getting told then he'd be a twat of the highest order.

I'm trying to work out how to contact him, I don't really want to tweet him and I'm not on fb...

I LOVE him. I started using a brush for foundation after one of his videos and what a difference (I'm old, 46) have you watched the uncut version of him making up his mate Mandy? It's hysterical.

I think he's lovely, shame he's gay. I imagine the 'special needs' comment is a red herring. It tends be everyday speak in 'the real world', doesn't make him an idiot, just means he hasn't been on MN.

I agree with you Kate, he should be told, it jars with me too. Just because it's used every day it doesn't mean it should be. He could have easily said 'I'm obsessive about make up'

I do find some of his tips good but I find him incredibly dull to listen to, more so than other youtubers who are just talking to a camera types.

I tried this this morning and sorry but it looks bloody terrible on me. I would have to agree with whoever said the results would have to depend on the products used and skin type, right? I have combo skin & used Laura Mercier mineral powder and revlon colorstay. You dont need powder with the colorstay anyway, so maybe that was the problem? It just looked cakey and aged me badly!

I've been wearing make up for over 36 years and have experimented with every combination of applying make up. Applying powder first gives me spots as the powder is designed to sit on top of foundation. Foundation is more emollient and should be non comedogenic and is less likely to clog pores.

I think it's something that someone with young and good skin could do but most people that wear make up do so because they're skin isn't that good naked!

I've been doing the powder first thing for a few days now, and for me it looks miles better, goes on more smoothly and lasts much longer. Fab!!! Smile

It's totally counter intuitive but cos it's MN I'm gonna have to try it!

Am on third day of and so far am really impressed. Finish of make-up looks better, far less shine breakout and make up lasting longer. I'm using it with some testers of mac primer and foundation. It didn't work quite as well with my usual Clinique Even Better foundation and Benefit primer though. Still felt tacky.

I did it today with Boots No 7 loose powder, followed by Max Factor 2 in 1 serum foundation and it worked a treat! Much smoother as I applied it and looked better. I did need to powder my T zone after about 4 hours though. Will be doing it again tomorrow.

Have you got a fat powder brush Nell? If you swirl it in your pressed powder it'll be the same as loose.

Report
Nells77 · 08/06/2014 19:57

Yes coumarin I've got on of those stubby handled bobbi brown ones, that's quite big. So if I churn it up abit to make it looser?
