Ooh, BTM, do you need rid of the old one? Grin

Rosebag · 04/06/2014 09:48

crem brilliant news…really hope it carries on getting better.
Passport photos? Like I said in a previous post…ours always get rejected (maybe they just think we're ugly?) and DH is almost always stopped at passport control. Once they made me and the children board a plane without him whilst they did some checking. I really thought we'd be taking off without him at the time.
Mother are you referring to a DP who doesn't put food away…? DH is the perfect culprit. Once he didn't refrigerate a whole pot of stew and went to bed. He shoved it in the fridge in the morning hoping I wouldn't notice but one of the kids ratted on him. I went mad. We could all have died of food poisoning.
Got kids home from school for 2 days. Fighting…business as usual. DS playing piano, DD watching endless Simpsons on the computer….in the same room... Give me strength. Trying still to full fill the bloody kit list for DD's trip, which is alarmingly close…they depart at silly o'clock in the early hours of Sun morning. I am in denial. She's my baby Sad

motherinferior · 04/06/2014 09:52

I think he thought I'd heave my cold-ridden exhausted form out of bed and put it away. He was wrong.

Rosebag · 04/06/2014 10:00

Ah shame. Get well soon mother

bigTillyMint · 04/06/2014 10:10

OOooops, MIBlush In the midst of all the major crap at the weekend it got sold. So sorrySad
We will be getting rid of another in a year or so, but I guess that's too long to wait?

motherinferior · 04/06/2014 10:14

Don't worry, we'll find another!

Blackduck · 04/06/2014 11:10

glasses

Dp has a full beard in his passport photo which he then promptly shaved off Hmm

MI - no - it involves him looking at the calendar in the kitchen - there is no syncing required......

wilbur · 04/06/2014 11:19

Morning all, long time no post, but I have a hangover today (midweek Shock) and am moving slowly enough to linger at the computer for a bit. Have almost caught up with all the chat!

Herbs -glad the choir tour was good, sounds great fun, esp Betty's Tea Rooms.

Crem - so sorry you've been in such pain, what a nightmare. I hope a strategic approach to therapies brings relief.

Exciting/scary about uni tours. I have been cheered up today by lovely pictures on FB from a friend whose daughter just had her senior prom (they are in Washington, where I should be this weekend for her 50th birthday part, sob) and who is off to USC in the autumn. The college process in the USA is so competitive and very drawn out, so it's great to see all these gorgeous kids in their frocks finally relaxed after all the stress. And, oh my, are those 18 year old breathtakingly beautiful! My cousin's son is currently at Edinburgh reading physics, in case anyone wants info on the Uni or sciences there.

We had a lovely week in Wales over half term, and were very lucky with the weather it seems, given the reports of deluges elsewhere. We got rained on a bit (wouldn't be Wales with a kagoule) but also had time on the beach and a bit of sitting about enjoying the sun. Speaking of kagoules - I decided I really must buy a summer mac. As we have established on earlier threads, I cannot wear a trench no matter how natty or well-cut. I looked at some pretty macs in SeaSalt - variety here but not sure if I pick a print, whether I will get bored with it immediately. I like the idea of something cheering to wear in the rain, but I would need it to go over anything. Thoughts? I also wanted to buy a couple of things from FatFace, but they didn't have my size in the shop so am going to look online. Does anyone know if there are any FF voucher codes out there at the mo?

Otherwise things tick over as usually here (or rather rush past me while I try to grab bits of life as they whizz by). DD is busy rehearsing for the Year 6 musical and looking forward to PGL. She is not planning to do any work at all now until September Grin. Wish I could say the same.

More tea needed now. Maybe some cake too.

motherinferior · 04/06/2014 11:36

I have CDiff hassling me for stuff that isn't supposed to be ready till next week Angry

Blackduck · 04/06/2014 11:38

Wilbur, seasalt have 20% off on Thursday if you are thinking of buying.....

wordassociationfootball · 04/06/2014 11:44

Mrs S - We didn't get to the Passages, sadly. Next time when I'm hopefully on my own.

Paris S&B wise, I came up trumps in Monoprix with two linen and one long t-shirt tunic-y things. V pleased with the cut of one in particular. Is sleeveless and cut in round the arms which is flattering on the shoulders.

Get those passport apps in Rudy and somebody else! DD1's took FOREVER as I know I mentioned. DH is the form filling fairy as I have had the worst handwriting in the house since DD2 turned 5 and our witness was followed up. He (witness who is a secondary head) said they often are followed up if it's a bloke applying for a kid...

BD hope the even better job is round the corner for you.

Herbs the video theory was actually Rudy's although I enjoyed taking credit for it.

Rudy my eyes are similar but I have plumper hoods (get me, showing off Grin) but with ref again to your vid theory, maybe people looking at us as we talk (fascinatingly) hopefully see our face animated, brow going up and down etc so see it in a variety of ways that mean what we see in the mirror wouldn't register. And there is unhooded eyelid a
plenty on show. Even at my puffiest I can't actually feel my hoods, bearing down can you?

wordassociationfootball · 04/06/2014 11:46

MI, that's really out of order of her/him. It's hard enough juggling different clients without them trying to get into space that's not theirs.

motherinferior · 04/06/2014 12:02

To be fair it may be a dates mixup, but it really made me feel hassled. What is really annoying is I am AHEAD of schedule, but that just makes people push me further.

motherinferior · 04/06/2014 12:04

And I'd raised the ante by sending through a proposed list of features for the winter issue Grin

wordassociationfootball · 04/06/2014 12:50

No!!! Smile

Rearrange these words into a sentence:

Yourself
To
Only
Blame
Got
You've

bigTillyMint · 04/06/2014 12:57

I think I have plump hoods tooGrin

I am feeling a bit worn out from writing for a couple of hours - don't know how you all do it for a living!

wordassociationfootball · 04/06/2014 13:11

You're kidding BTM. You're a teacher Proper Job respect.

Although frankly, today, I don't know how I do it for a living. I am supposed to be adding hilarity to a pilot script and I'm just feeling knackered and dreary.

originalpiratematerial · 04/06/2014 13:17

Oh that might be it wordassociationfootball - on the passport application which the Passport Office checked with me, it was indeed a dad applying for his son's passport. Come to think of it, I don't think I've done one of those previously.

I've no problem at all with the principle of being checked up on - it couldn't have been more legit in this case, I've known the dad since I was 20 and he was 19 - but it must add quite significantly to the waiting time, if the Passport Office uses only second class post to do the checking.

Stropperella · 04/06/2014 13:23

I have just hoods and barely any eyes. Grin I have never been able to wear eyeliner on the top lid as it just ends up in stripes up the lid. Ruby's eye looks remarkably un-hooded to me - but then I am used to looking at mine all the time. Grin Throughout my childhood, my father referred to my eyes variously as "pissholes in the snow" or "like a myxy rabbit". Also, on a couple of occasions people have asked me if I have Japanese ancestry. Hmm It's the right one, btw, MrsS, that is noticeably droopier. Do we match or are we mirror images? :)

According to the passport photo guidelines, my photos ought in theory to be ok, but it wouldn't entirely surprise me if they got rejected. Bugger.

Turned out that they had stuffed up the timetable at school and didn't actually need me for invig this morning (aside from 1-to-1 for an hour) and I got to do filing instead and have a nice chat with a chap I know vaguely from ds's school. His ds is very severely physically disabled and hearing about their situation and how they cope distracted me nicely from my preoccupation with slight facial wonkiness. Blush

herbaceous · 04/06/2014 13:34

I have gone through all your photos on FB, Stropps, and cannot see a hint of a wonk. Just a lovely smile!

Stropperella · 04/06/2014 13:37

Awww, Herbs. Thank you. Grin

Rosebag · 04/06/2014 13:39

Ah, so that's how you all know what each other looks like…fb! Duh

CointreauVersial · 04/06/2014 13:40

DH was away overnight, so predictably I overslept. Blush

Managed to get the DCs to school just about on time, but of course it was my fault we were all running around like headless chickens. Despite the fact that the DCs sleep next to all manner of electronic devices, all perfectly capable of sounding a wake-up alarm, not one of the buggers got up by themselves. Angry

Re. passports - both mine and DD2's have now expired, but as we have no foreign trips planned for the foreseeable future I'm postponing putting my hand in my pocket for replacements. I have a nasty feeling this will trip me up at some point.....

CointreauVersial · 04/06/2014 13:41

No, Rose, we have pretty much all met (there are a few I haven't ticked off yet, which will hopefully be remedied at the next meet-up - NU, OPM, WAF....YOU!).

cremolafoam · 04/06/2014 13:42
