Hi, I hope no one minds me starting a new thread, I was about to post on the old one and then saw it was on 999 messages so I'm hoping I can get a link to this one on before it fills up so we don't get lost. Apologies if I've trodden on anyone's toes Blush

The previous thread is here

I'm thinking a dark top in either coffee or olive to go with those coral trousers. What do you reckon?

MarthaCostello · 28/11/2014 23:48

never the icing on the cake was at the end, my consultant told me that the reason she knew I was an autumn was that I looked so awful in the (lilac) top I was wearing SadAngry at the time I was mortified, but looking back I'm just astonished at her rudeness. I'd booked it as a treat after six months of chemo, but I was so embarrassed and upset that I just pretended the whole thing had never happened!

More importantly, I'm jealous of your cardigans, I have about six. I really can't imagine a practical alternative. I occasionally wear jumpers, but I feel a bit claustrophobic (?!) in them.

Your Pinterest board sounds fun, I will have a look. I have my own board, boringly just called Style, which is mostly autumn colours now, but I go through random bursts of using it then forgetting about it.

Rapunzel gorgeous trousers! I hope you like them in real life.

I've been wading through pages and pages of ASOS dresses and skirts looking for something for my graduation in a few weeks (hopefully, haven't had any results yet...). I've got lots in my Saved items, just need to narrow it down a bit. I want to take advantage of the 20% off everything this weekend Grin (if anyone hasn't seen it, the code is in a flashing banner across the top of the website) I will try and post links to my shortlist!

MarthaCostello · 28/11/2014 23:49

Rapunzel dark top could look good. I'd wimp out and go for cream/oyster.

Rapunzel88 · 29/11/2014 00:12

Funnily enough, MarthaC I wore an oyster/cream top today and was just thinking it would work with the trousers. Good luck with the asos search. I spent a couple of hours on there last night hoping to take full advantage of the 20% code, but as usual the majority of stuff I really liked wasn't available in my size. Hopefully the trousers will be a winner, though.

nevercackle · 29/11/2014 09:43

yeah I can see why that is harsh when you've been ill. I was very ill earlier this year after a freak cardiac arrest during c section for dc3. weirdly, when I see people from work they haven't quite moved on from it and seem to be looking for signs of illness or upcoming death. it sounds like lilac would give them something to worry about.

today I am wearing a khaki sweater, dark green jeggings, tan suede boots and a red hat.

AutumnJen · 02/12/2014 14:46

Hi ladies, recently diagnosed Autumn Leaf here! Loving it so far but wondering if anyone can help. I would really like a lipstick in the brick red colour to finish a party outfit I'm planning for Friday - has anyone seen anything of a similar shade in the shops? I like the MAC lipsticks but can't find a colour match :-)

I would get the actual HOC one but don't think I'll get it in time for Friday.

Any help much appreciated :-)

Jen

nevercackle · 02/12/2014 16:11

sorry I don't know. but if any lipstick people come along, can they also tell me if l'oreal 362 is an autumn colour. cappuccino something.

BabCNesbittsSeasonalGreet · 02/12/2014 21:33

It's been a while since I had it, but would Mac's Chili work, or is that too bright?

KittyB52, how did you get on with finding a cruelty-free Autumn lipstick? I've been pinning a couple by BWC (Terracotta) and PHB Ethical Beauty (Pomegranate and Terra Cotta - imaginative with their names, these companies) but I'm wary of spending 14 quid plus delivery without knowing anything about the quality or how accurate the swatches are.

BabCNesbittsSeasonalGreet · 02/12/2014 21:34

(Oh, and I've even wondered about a couple of Manic Panic ones, if you fancied going a bit gothy! Grin)

Rapunzel88 · 02/12/2014 22:06

Hope the lipstick issues get resolved. Just ordered this Artigiano dress. I think someone posted it a while back. lovely mossy colour.

KittyB52 · 03/12/2014 07:46

Hi Babs. I didn't get far with the lipsticks, I found a Body Shop sheer one which I like, but it's not 'full on' Autumn. It's a Colour Crush lipstick in shade 110. And yes, I know they are linked to L'Evil, but they do have the Leaping Bunny seal of approval, so....

The B range at Superdrug is good, but they don't appear to have any vaguely Autumn colours. Tsk.

It's a shame that BWC and PHB aren't available in shops, so we can check the colours out. I agree that £14 is a lot to risk.

According to the Leaping Bunny site, M&S make up is bunny friendly - might be worth a look? I don't ever venture into M&S but I might have a look next time I'm near one. I can stock up on veggie Percy Pigs then too. Grin

And Rapunzel, that dress is gorgeous - lovely, lovely colour. No good for me, as it would sit on my saddlebags curvy hips.

BabCNesbittsSeasonalGreet · 03/12/2014 11:37

Oh, I forgot about M&S! Apparently their Autograph lipsticks are good, and I think Tea Rose might be an Autumn shade, but it seemed to be out of stock on the website last time I checked. Will have a poke around in town next time. (And yes to the piggy-free Percy Pigs! Grin)

AutumnJen · 03/12/2014 13:57

Thanks BabC, I did actually try the MAC Chilli one and while I really loved it, I felt it was more bronze than red. Suspect I may get it anyway eventually tho Smile

georgie22 · 03/12/2014 14:04

I'm an Autumn leaf and I'm desperately searching for a dress to wear this Sunday (yes THIS Sunday!!!) for my children's Christening. Has anyone seen anything suitable? I looked in House of Fraser at the weekend but didn't see anything. Budget is up to £100. Thanks in desperation!!

nevercackle · 03/12/2014 16:06

They had an orangey jersey dress in marks and spencers the other day. could maybe be accessorised up for a christening.

I'd quite like a dress for my two Christmas nights out but can't find anything.

reallifegetsintheway · 03/12/2014 16:47

I am an Autumn leaf too

Autumn Jen- lipstick L'oreal Pure red collection _ Eva's red is good, cheap and good staying power for the money

I've got this and it's smart and warm - perfect for a christening in december! It's on the cool side I admit, but autumns have a lot of leeway with green. I'd say the Medium is a 12. It's knee length on me and I'm 5'7".

nevercackle · 03/12/2014 22:56

the Zara dress is lovely.

AutumnJen · 04/12/2014 09:24

Thanks reallife, I'll check out the L'Oreal one today.

MarthaCostello · 04/12/2014 12:12

I bought a teal lace dress from Monsoon the other day, on offer so just £39. It's for my graduation, possibly, I've ordered some bits from ASOS too. Anyway it's quite nice and I think would work for a christening :)

MarthaCostello · 04/12/2014 12:26

Can't find the lace teal dress on the Monsoon website, they're a bit rubbish and seem to take things off when they go on sale. Did find two others I like though and might work for party or Christening...

gorgeous teal velvetty Norina necklace dress £79 - not sure if it's a tiny bit cool? Am now pondering it for graduation, but perhaps too dressy.

nude Bonnie tulle dress £89 - always struggle a bit with nude colours, but think this one would be warm enough?

BabCNesbittsSeasonalGreet · 04/12/2014 17:13

Right. This is a cry of desperation. I'm on the way back from an afternoon of trying to find a suit as I want to get back to work in the new year, in a fairly conservative business, and I have found NOTHING. Not one single suit in an Autumn shade. Plenty of black, navy, grey, plum, bright red... But nothing I wouldn't look like a corpse in. Surely there must be SOMETHING out there for warm-toned women?

BabC have you looked in ASOS? They have mustard and khaki suits, I think, I had a look the other day as I'm starting to casually look for one. I'd like a brown suit ideally, but they seem to be hard to come by.

Never I'd only go for the off white or beige, to be in the safe side, the purple looks like it could be a possibility, I'm sure someone has recommended that colour before, and I've been surprised that it's autumnal.

BabCNesbittsSeasonalGreet · 04/12/2014 21:17

Thanks, Martha - it looks good for trousers, but not so great for jackets, bizarrely. There's a mustard one, but I could imagine potential employers in the industry looking a little Hmm at me if I came in wearing something so bright. Grin Why is brown so hard to find in women's suits (apart from tweedy Miss Marple ones)? Does it have bad associations or something?
