Are you a winter colouring? If so come and join us for chat about clothes/make up following on from part 1 here and part 2 here

Do you want to know more about what a winter is? These resources are good places to start here and here.

Scared to try bright lipstick? Previous winter favourite makeup items include Mac Plumful, Revlon Lip Butters in Berry Smoothie and Red Velvet and Revlon gloss in Bordeaux. They are all good places to start without being scarily bright for a newly diagnosed winter. More makeup tips can be found here and by reading through previous threads.

Has anyone found a good concealer? I've currently got a yellow based concealer but I'm thinking this is a big no no for us winters. I'm very pale and currently covered in spots.

Also in the market for a large bag for work which can accommodate a few A4 folders. I'm thinking maybe navy, grey or red. Really trying to avoid black. It's my birthday at the end of the week so I'm taking lots if notes from this thread for ideas of what to buy Smile

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 09/04/2014 09:23

I've used Bare Minerals bisque concealer which has been great for me, and have recently tried YSL Touche Eclat which is also good as a concealer.

Cheers Betty

I don't get to go shopping very often so have to make the most of it Smile

Morning winters. I'm quite excited, I found a small dressmakers near me, have been searching for the perfect summer shirt dress for years and years (have a long body) Called them yesterday and I can have one made for around £80. Just deciding whether to go for a blue, burgandy or a purple. I'm thinking a heavy cotton material wise.

Still hunting for tops, need a 3/4 sleeve, short sleeves make my boob shelf look more than matronly!

MissUumellmahaye · 10/04/2014 16:46

Has anyone come across any nice dark emerald tops or shirts?

AllTheWorldAndSoMuch · 10/04/2014 18:23

Thanks Face, I've got bare minerals bisque but find it looks very red. I have used YSL touché éclat before so might give that a whirl again.

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 10/04/2014 18:27

Miss no, but am also keen! DP top linked to earlier looked OK so might try that.

SorrelForbes · 10/04/2014 18:40

I use the No7 concealer in cool ivory which is quite good and an Estee lauder Double Wear one in light.

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 10/04/2014 18:44

Ah, I am fair but not pale, iyswim. Might not be the right shade for you.

QueenCadbury · 10/04/2014 18:45

I think I may have linked this top before. It may not be vivid enough to be emerald though.

QueenCadbury · 10/04/2014 18:46

emerald

QueenCadbury · 10/04/2014 18:47

oasis. They also do an emerald camisole top too.

QueenCadbury · 10/04/2014 18:50

camisole

KosherBacon · 10/04/2014 19:23

Those oasis tops are lovely but it's such a shame they are 100% polyester.

I'm relatively new to the colours thing, and I'm finding it so restrictive. I'm a size 16 so my choice is already narrowed down in terms of things that suit me (need sleeves, tops that don't stop at the waist etc) and once I factor in colour I can't find anything!

SorrelForbes · 11/04/2014 08:56

I really struggle to match outfits and make decisions about what to wear so for me, the restrictions are a godsend Blush

TheGruffalo2 · 11/04/2014 10:27

WINTER COLOURS?

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 11/04/2014 10:31

After weeding through my epic shop, this is what I am keeping. Lots of pink and purple!

Dark pink tee

Dark pink cardigan

Purple top

Another purple top, different style

Purple vest

And I'm keeping a bunch of tube skirts that are on sale at Debenhams as well. Red Herring tube skies for £7.50.

I also love this pencil skirt in navy and this denim skirt. Both will be good for bare legs, eventually.

Told you it was epic!

bettybigballs · 11/04/2014 10:36

Ohhhh face some lovely keepers in there. Love the purple top, the one with the slight detail on it, really nice. Also love the boden pencil skirt, nt usually a massive fan of them but that skirt is perfect for summer.

Are any of the tube skirts online do you know? I do love a bargain!

bettybigballs · 11/04/2014 10:40

I love the moxie lipsticks gruffalo really creamy and smell like mint choc chip!

I've got never say never - a very bright hot prink, loud but wonderful in summer and call the shots which is a cool red that looks great applied lightly fingers, like a stain.

TheGruffalo2 · 11/04/2014 10:49

Wow Face, some lovely clothes. More things to add to my wish list. It is building up after a self-imposed shopping ban, but lots of on-line window shopping. I've just got all my spring/summer clothes out of their vacuum bag and found either they are the wrong colour or don't fit me. Good excuse to actually hit the shops soon. Especially as there is a min-heatwave forecast!

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 11/04/2014 10:59

Yes, everything was / is online. V rarely make it into actual shops due to health. Just look for the Red Herring brand in Debenhams. Grin

Also returned some pinky purple cardies from Lands End as they were too soft. Put them next to the one I'm keeping and the difference is obvious. No wonder they made me look old.

Witchywitch · 11/04/2014 11:36

Can anyone tell me what colour sandals they'll be wearing this summer? I've always gone for tan, but my hoc consultant said brown shoes are a no no. Now I can understand that tan probably won't match a lot of my winter colour wardrobe, but I think it would be fine with navy, white, blue, green. Maybe not red or pink but I don't have a lot of those colours. If not tan, then what else?? Black I think is too heavy for sandals especially with my pale skin, and really, tan and beige are always practically the only options aren't they.
