Are you a winter colouring? If so come and join us for chat about clothes/make up following on from part 1 here and part 2 here

Do you want to know more about what a winter is? These resources are good places to start here and here.

Scared to try bright lipstick? Previous winter favourite makeup items include Mac Plumful, Revlon Lip Butters in Berry Smoothie and Red Velvet and Revlon gloss in Bordeaux. They are all good places to start without being scarily bright for a newly diagnosed winter. More makeup tips can be found here and by reading through previous threads.

Agggghh, stupid asterisks (and typos)

That should say: The Azul is a good match for shade 10 which is a * at 100% for me, so maybe I should order the dress in that colour instead. Navy is a * at 50%. Decisions, decisions.

SorrelForbes · 02/06/2014 15:02

I give up

MissScatterbrain · 02/06/2014 15:25

Sorrel - that is a great top, what colour did you get it in?

As for the dress although the Azul is a better colour on you, but the navy looks smarter and less casual. Or don't buy the dress unless you really want to or need it.

SorrelForbes · 02/06/2014 18:39

I might have ordered both dresses Blush. You're right, I have a feeling I'll keep the Navy one as it'll look smarter. It's for my holiday in August really, I need nice, light dresses. Structured ones are just going to be too hot.

I have the top in Azul and (as of this morning) Red.

MissScatterbrain · 02/06/2014 18:55

I know what you mean by holiday dresses - these need to be cool and light and easily dressed up/down. I love exploring old churches and places so must have covered shoulders which rules out maxi/sundresses.

SorrelForbes · 02/06/2014 19:24

I hate strappy, strapless or cap sleeve dresses so I struggle to find anything I like!

Fooogle · 03/06/2014 11:21

Hi Winters
I liked that dress Sorrel though I am too tall for it and it is more like a tunic. Can you get away with it without something on your bottom half unlike me?

Jealous of your holiday. No booked anything...

MAC 'Party Line' is pretty good, mostly like Red Velvet really. A kind of burgundy red-dy shade. It may be better on a sultry than a jewel winter but not sure (I'm a jewel!).

Pretty drizzly here today, I'm wondering if I will ever need to unleash any summer outfits as I am in my winter work gear again today...

SorrelForbes · 03/06/2014 11:48

I'm a smidge under 5'4" and it was fine, just a few inches above the knee, definitely not a mini!

It's drizzly and cold here so I've reverted to navies and greys this week.

ThePerfectNegroni · 03/06/2014 12:01

I bought red velvet and thought it was a great colour but a bit dry on the lips, which was disappointing as I find the other formulas great.

I have just bought a baby sling and am not looking at dyes as I am disliking the colour of the pattern on it. Its black with neutral beigey stars and I am looking at dylon swatches to work out how to make it more of a winter! How sad am I?

As for shopping, I am going a bit off radar as we are in the process of moving house, so money needs to go there!

MrPop · 03/06/2014 12:31

Perfect that is dedication to the cause!

Nice shopping Sorrel

A few wintery bits from my-wardrobe:

love the colour

pricey but lovely

QueenCadbury · 03/06/2014 20:19

So ladies, since embracing your colours after your colour day are there any now a few months/years that the line that you've changed your mind about? I loved red when I was first diagnosed and loved my red cardi and red zatchel but now it just doesn't feel right. I'm not sure if it's since having my style day and realising that red doesn't really fit in with the ingenue natural style. Scarlet is a ** at 75% so in theory should be good but I guess it's just too dramatic for me. Yet weirdly I feel completely at home in fuschia Hmm.

SorrelForbes · 03/06/2014 21:19

I started off looking for reds and greens but have ended up with more blues and fuchsias and I seem to be wearing fuchsia lipstick most of the time now. My HoC Deep Fuchsia lipstick is a bit brighter than some of my reds but is definitely less scary and (I think) makes me look younger.

I'm also wearing a lot of white and navy and I can see that continuing into Autumn and Winter, with more charcoals, blacks and purples.

MissScatterbrain · 03/06/2014 21:29

I wore a lot of black, purple, plum, raspberry, red and white to begin with - its only in recent years that I got into wearing charcoal and navy. I have also rediscovered chinese blue, burgundy and cobalt. Probably cos these came into fashion.

SorrelForbes · 04/06/2014 10:09

New in at Hobbs:

Ice Blue shorts

Ice Blue jacket

Mint shorts could be a match for ice green but possibly too dark

Mint jacket ditto

pinkflaming0 · 04/06/2014 22:02

Liked that top when you first linked to it Sorrel. Not sure if structured enough for me but I have a similar one from H&M in stone (not my best colour but from before I was diagnosed and OK) which I like as I can't usually do drapey. May have to give it a go.

pinkflaming0 · 04/06/2014 22:06

Just back from my hols and catching up on here.

Having to pack for the holiday has really made me appreciate that one of the joys of knowing your colours is that everything really does go together including things you maybe wouldn't have put together before.

I even took a photo of my what I was packing laid out on the bed as I was so impressed with how it all toned together.

Still took too much though Grin

SorrelForbes · 05/06/2014 07:54

pinkflaming0 I sized down in the Red and it fits much better, more like the Ravello. I don't do drapey either really but this top does seem to fit nicely on the bust and waist. Size down though.

That's good to hear about your holiday wardrobe. I'm hoping for a similar packing success in August!

SorrelForbes · 05/06/2014 07:54

Post the photo!

MrPop · 05/06/2014 08:26

I love all those ice colours. I think we do have mint green in our swatch don't we? So not as icey as ice green if that makes sense.

Hmmm, colours I've changed my mind about....I think I thought the bright colours in our swatch were the ones I would wear but I now realise that the darker colours do suit me better so I wear those more (wearing all black today). It's funny in a way that the image of getting your colours done is that you HAVE to wear loads of bright colours and instead it has made me wear darker colours. I never used to wear navy blue (thought it was a bit dull) but I wear it a lot now.

Lipstick wise I do think the fuchsia colours look better on me than reds.

SorrelForbes · 05/06/2014 09:21

Sorry, those links above are for Reiss no Hobbs!

MrPop · 05/06/2014 12:25

I've just brought this dress for £14 - so much for me saying I don't do bright colours!

MrPop · 05/06/2014 17:21

I also bought these jeans a bit randomly but I think they will look good with navy and purple.

MrPop · 06/06/2014 14:12

Kettlewell has a sale on some colours.

MissScatterbrain · 06/06/2014 16:31

Thanks Mr Pop for the links. The jeans look good and so does the dress.

I've been on a spending spree! Trouble is I forgot my colours wallet when I went out, so we'll see what works when I have the energy to check.
