Are you a winter colouring? If so come and join us for chat about clothes/make up following on from part 1 here and part 2 here

Do you want to know more about what a winter is? These resources are good places to start here and here.

Scared to try bright lipstick? Previous winter favourite makeup items include Mac Plumful, Revlon Lip Butters in Berry Smoothie and Red Velvet and Revlon gloss in Bordeaux. They are all good places to start without being scarily bright for a newly diagnosed winter. More makeup tips can be found here and by reading through previous threads.

I think I will wear the blazer with jeans and a top. Probably not for the wedding. I think blue and pink would be a bit too loud.

Fooogle · 26/05/2014 07:05

genetics I look forward to hearing if the blazers any good as it's a good bargain!

I was a maid of honour whilst breastfeeding a while back and just ended up going to sit in the loo I think as I basically had to strip to access my boobs! Changed for the evening party Grin

Not sure what to suggest on the wedding front but I agree, io dress would definitely resell well on eBay...

Geneticsbunny · 26/05/2014 12:09

Bum. The io sale doesn't include nursing dresses. Damn them. Will let you know about the blazer. It will take ages to arrive though. Postage was free if you don't mind waiting 10-20 days after they have packed it.

bettybigballs · 28/05/2014 13:52

I've bought a gorgeous blazer from zara - www.zara.com/uk/en/woman/outerwear/blazers/combined-tweed-jacket-c400013p1758031.html i'm hoping the trim is silvery. I've wanted a rough looking blazer for ages.

Genetics - looking forward to seeing how your blazer is.

What do you think of the colours in this top? The red is a bit orange and there is yellow in it but I'm hoping the pink with the black trim and bit of Chinese blue make it wintery enough. I'm finding patterns hard

MissScatterbrain · 28/05/2014 14:57

The red looks very warm and as there is a lot of it, it wouldn't look right and it would be risky with it being close to your face.

Re patterns - I find that patterns need to be clearly defined to prevent it from looking soft/muted. Stripes, spots and geometry shapes are great. Florals are tricky.

MissScatterbrain · 28/05/2014 14:57

Love that zara blazer - think the trim should be fine.

Eenie · 28/05/2014 15:07

Yes I see what you mean, I was hoping the huge contrast in colours would make it ok but I suppose the pattern isn't very defined. Hmm.

SorrelForbes · 28/05/2014 15:08

I love that Zara blazer. I was trying so hard not to buy anything else...

MissScatterbrain · 28/05/2014 15:37

Florals work better for us if all of the colours are winter ones - but when you have yellow and red/orange as well, it does not look right. Does not help that clothes with black and non winter colours has a tendency to look cheap.

MissScatterbrain · 28/05/2014 15:38

this is an example of a good winter floral top

seasalty50 · 28/05/2014 15:40

I sent back that dress I mentioned www.zalando.co.uk/kala-emma-jersey-dress-pink-ka821c00d-b11.html

the bright pink was ok but the yellows were so muted they dulled down the whole floral.

MissScatterbrain · 28/05/2014 15:43

another one

MissScatterbrain · 28/05/2014 15:47

Seasalty - wise choice. I remember last time tea dresses were in and it took me a while to realise why I looked shit in these.

seasalty50 · 28/05/2014 15:49

I think it's that whole floral thing as you said earlier. The actual flower things are soft-edged by nature. Sharper is much better. I'm learning a lot today! :)

This blue is perfect for our swatches.

Fooogle · 31/05/2014 12:47

seasalt that top looks nice.

I've bought lots of things but rummaged in charity shops. Vintage circle skirt in one of our pinks, linen mens oversized shirt in grey, an aquascutum navy jumper, liberty shirt in possibly more summer shades but... Good fun though a bit addictive!

Today wearing, navy jeans, grey t, grey wool oversize

A lovely Danish scarf I was given with grey and black print and bright coloured tassels. Not exactly summer clothing!

Fooogle · 31/05/2014 12:49

Also ordered MAC party line lipstick... May be wrong, bit like red velvet I think? Anyone have it?

MrPop · 31/05/2014 20:47

Hello winters, not much shopping to report here. Have been looking for a waterproof coat - bought the boden rainy day mac but had to send back as it leaked! It was a gorgeous colour though. I am really keen to get something in emerald green, now thinking maybe this whistles top

Waterproof wise I have ordered this - only misgiving is it is short.

Fooogle I like the sound of your outfit. Do you have a link for the scarf? I am envious of your charity shopping, where I am there is never much of interest.

Today I was wearing (in PJs now) grey hush harems (yawn), mint jumper from gap and white birkenstocks. Not sure about the white birkies, think they are a bit trendy for me and I can't pull them off! Going to try them with jeans tomorrow I think.

MAC partyline looks nice Fooogle do report back. I love my mac craving, really wearable for everyday. Probably my fave.

QueenCadbury · 01/06/2014 07:22

Hello winters. No purchases to report from me but I still love all your links. I'm especially envious of your charity hauls foogle. I scoured the charity shops in the town where we've just been on holiday. There was definitely some more decent stuff than the usual tat but nothing for me.

QueenCadbury · 01/06/2014 07:28

Just browsing the monsoon website and came across this dress. I gave absolute zero need for it but it looks like a great emerald colour.

Fooogle · 01/06/2014 19:31

mrpop scarf is scarf, think it looks better in the flesh.

My charity shop successes are a bit of an addiction. Too much time committed = good returns!

Today trying a baukjen t I got in a clothes swap. It's more summer I think really... Burgundy kind of splash pattern (old so no link). Boyfriend ish jeans and silver belt...

MrPop · 02/06/2014 10:26

AllBuggiedOut there is 20% off at asos if you were interested in trying the scarf?

SorrelForbes · 02/06/2014 14:53

I thought I'd feed back on this Mango blouse as I know that some people were a bit worried about the synthetic fabric. Well, I've worn it three times now, all on fairly warm days, and I'm pleased to report that it didn't feel hot, sticky or sweaty. Yes, it would be nicer if it contained silk (like the Boden Ravello) but the cut is great and the length perfect.

I went to the local HoF today and bought another one in Red (I decided to size down to a 10 as even with my 30GGs, the 12 was a bit roomy).

I also tried this dress in navy, pink and Azul. It's a bit too casual for me (I'm a Romantic Classic) but all three colours worked well. I'm a 10/12 with an ample bust and the 10 was just right. I think I'll order the navy and wear it with a silver belt and silver or black sandals.

SorrelForbes · 02/06/2014 14:56

Sorry, posted too soon!

The Azul is a goof match for shade 10 which is a * at 100% for me, so maybe I should order the dress in that colour instead. Navy is a * at 50%. Decisions, decisions.
