Are you a winter colouring? If so come and join us for chat about clothes/make up following on from part 1 here and part 2 here

Do you want to know more about what a winter is? These resources are good places to start here and here.

Scared to try bright lipstick? Previous winter favourite makeup items include Mac Plumful, Revlon Lip Butters in Berry Smoothie and Red Velvet and Revlon gloss in Bordeaux. They are all good places to start without being scarily bright for a newly diagnosed winter. More makeup tips can be found here and by reading through previous threads.

Hello winters! What are you all wearing in this sunny weather? I am wearing a v pale denim shirt (which I think matches ice blue) from HnM, blue slim leg jeans and alternating between a pair of silver slingback pointy shoes and lilac superga (depending what I am up to).

Kosher your jacket link went to rightmove.

Did you manage to have your drunken shopping spree??

Shame about that coat Fooogle it looks a lovely colour. The Mango top looks really nice but I have the same worry with man made fibres.

Pink I am also not sure about the different types of winter, there doesn't seem to be much consensus - I think they may be different ways of classifying some of the same things? Like I think deep, burnished and sultry are similar. I have also seen bright winter mentioned which I think is like jewel??

MrPop · 14/05/2014 12:20

Am also wearing tomato red chubby stick, I like it with denim.

Fooogle · 14/05/2014 13:37

Micku that looks like a lovely dress. I always find purples a bit odd, some I have are not really easy to place anywhere but I kind of assume you cant really have a warm purple but maybe that's not really true as springs have one... travelin???

Fooogle · 14/05/2014 17:10

Oops sorry! Think I posted on a spring comment on here! Naughty lurking on other boards Smile.
pop was it you who kindly linked clog pinterests? Do the ones I posted look dodgy. Am acquiring way too many shoes that aren't t quite perfect...

KosherBacon · 14/05/2014 17:25

MrPop- thanks! I've reported it and asked for it to be taken down! It was actually this jacket. I was restrained and didn't go looking at handbags! As you might have guessed I want a new house and can't bring myself to spend the money (and am petrified of the new mortgage tests and don't want them questioning me too much on my shopping!).

Today in the warm weather I wore boyfriend jeans, a pink tshirt and navy saltwater sandals.

Nice jacket kosher. Would like a biker jacket though can't bring self to spend proper cost! Eying up some on eBay though was bitten once and ended up with something v eighties I had to sell on... Blacks not ** for more than 75% I think... Charcoal one d be ideal. Is yours lighter than that?
Could do with some flattering boyfriend jeans,y skinny ones get me all of a fluster on got days!
And finally!, any good statement necklaces in colours?

KosherBacon · 14/05/2014 20:18

Foogle-If I hold a swatch to it, in dull light, it looks like 5 in my swatch book, however because of the light reflecting off it, it really looks like a 4 (if that makes sense. 4 is a 75%* for me, and 5 is a 50%, so I try and wear it with a scarf that has some of my 100%** colours in it, if that makes sense.

Well the Debenhams order has arrived & all of it is oing back except one pair of PJs.

The 'long' pair were too short so the 2 tops are going back too.
The other pair had a hole in them!
The three black crossbody bags, I only like one, but don't love it.

The white bag looks cheap - anyone seen a nice white crossbody bag? Not casual, preferably leather.

GingerLemonTea · 16/05/2014 19:45

Thoughts on this...does it look a good colour? In rose verbana.

Gap top

NotScroogeMcDuck · 16/05/2014 20:41

Looks a fab colour!

MrPop · 17/05/2014 08:18

Ginger looks like a good colour. Looks similar to my american vintage top, I have worn it a lot.

A bit left field perhaps but a white bag

Kosher I know I've mentioned me and em before but some of the things you bought from phase 8 reminded me of their style - the ruched skirt is a wardrobe staple for me and I find it easy to dress down with jumper and boots. I think it would work in summer too. Their ruched dresses would also be dress downable but fit your style I think? here here and here

Haven't bought much recently, just 2 pairs of birkenstock: white arizona and grey gizeh

Keen to get one or both of these bretons: navy and/or red

Hope you are all enjoying the warm weather.

MrPop · 17/05/2014 08:19

Whoops Ginger just saw that you said not casual on the bag. Hmm whistles did some nice white cross body bags a while ago: I have seen some on ebay recently.

pinkflaming0 · 17/05/2014 15:52

What are all you winters wearing in the spring/summer sunshine today?

I'm in this navy pinstripe maxi skirt with a white V-neck t-shirt, sliver chain link belt and silver flip flops (plus raspberry cardi when it was cooler earlier). Toe nails and finger nails raspberry too.

Maxi skirt is great, very long (am 5'10") and excellent for hiding my legs - am growing my leg hair ahead of pre-holiday wax on Tuesday.

It did get caught in the wheel of my trolley in Sainsbury's earlier though - oops!

pinkflaming0 · 17/05/2014 15:53

Now to try to whittle down the pile of clothes on the spare bed into a 'capsule wardrobe' for my hols...

bewleysisters · 17/05/2014 20:06

Hello All, am self diagnosed! Trying to dye bits and piece in my wardrobe. Have a lovely 50s style dress in a cotton/silk mix fabric (polyester lining). It's hand-wash only. Great shape, but wrong colour; a pale beige on the wrong side of stone. Looking to use a Dylon hand dye. Any experiences? Any recommendations colour-wise? Bit worried the zip and/or stitching might not take the dye so don't want to go really dark and have a horrible contrast...

AllBuggiedOut · 17/05/2014 20:23

Help please! Is this winter? TIA

MrPop · 17/05/2014 20:40

Hello Bewley - I have only hand dyed one thing, it was a faff but worked out ok. Much prefer the machine dye for ease and convenience but I guess that might not work on a hand wash only item. I have found that stitching does not take the dye as well but personally I don't mind that 'look' as it were.

AllBuggiedout I am not the best at telling but it doesn't strike me as very winter like, no. But best to canvas other people's opinion too!

Pink that is a nice skirt. I also wore a maxi skirt (black) and navy t, black sandals (very sombre) and a mint green satchel - my nod to the warmer weather and a bright pink lippy, one of the revlon lip butters.

QueenCadbury · 17/05/2014 21:37

Hi winters. I haven't contributed much to the thread lately as haven't bought a lot but I love catching up on your purchases.

Hello bewley, I've hand dyed stuff and IMO the stitching doesn't dye. I've had success with the dylon intense indigo. The dylon green (amazon?) was not good, nor was antique grey ( came out a sludgy grey colour).

all to me the background looks cream rather than white but the other colours may well be intense enough. Always difficult to tell online I find.

QueenCadbury · 17/05/2014 22:26

white bag

pinkflaming0 · 17/05/2014 22:32

I was about to link to the same bag Queen!

Been looking for an across the body bag for my hols - not sure what colour to go for though.

Fooogle · 18/05/2014 07:02

bewley I've dyed things. Navy over normal denim jeans gave good solid colour(dylon machine one), green dye in bucket (dylon/then rit) had varying success... Was trying on cashmere though which obviously can't heat much but silk may be similarly tricky. I decided if I wasn't going to wear it anyway then may as well give it a go...
mrpop did you have lotta clogs? I've sent my others back and ordered some in Aubergine... Waiting now.
Been wearing skinny jeans and an old navy whistles top in sun.
Bought some not v exciting basics yesterday in zara and h and m plus a vintsge handbag in tan Blush, I do actually like it for leather though know not winter!
Tshirt great match for electric blue.

Fooogle · 18/05/2014 07:07

tshirt

AllBuggiedOut · 18/05/2014 08:41

Thanks MrPop - I can't decide either! The greens look good to me, clearly navy OK but not so sure about the paler blue or the purple. Anybody else any clue? Thanks.

Fooogle · 18/05/2014 09:07

allbug I'd maybe try it and see if you can? Think it's free returns at asos? Looks like a possible. I think they say a certain percentage of the pattern to be in your season so it may still be ok if not all perfect winter shades?

NotScroogeMcDuck · 18/05/2014 11:12

This dress is great on me.

Nc regular. Grin
