Are you a winter colouring? If so come and join us for chat about clothes/make up following on from part 1 here and part 2 here

Do you want to know more about what a winter is? These resources are good places to start here and here.

Scared to try bright lipstick? Previous winter favourite makeup items include Mac Plumful, Revlon Lip Butters in Berry Smoothie and Red Velvet and Revlon gloss in Bordeaux. They are all good places to start without being scarily bright for a newly diagnosed winter. More makeup tips can be found here and by reading through previous threads.

How tall are you NotScroogeMcDuck if you don't mind me asking? Would it fit someone tall?

NotScroogeMcDuck · 18/05/2014 19:03

5'6". It comes exactly to me knees.

ThePerfectNegroni · 18/05/2014 20:03

Hello! KosherBacon here following a name change!

MrPop- thanks for the Me&Em suggestions. They are really good, but I need something softer and floatier on the bottom half.

pinkflaming0 · 18/05/2014 22:08

Thanks NotScrooge - probably a bit short for me then, am 5'10". Shame as it looks lovely.

Have decided I need one last thing for my hols - a small cross the body bag. I usually go for leather but budget and time are short so thinking of this in cobalt or maybe white.

GingerLemonTea · 18/05/2014 22:17

Thanks MrPop & QueenC for the white bag links.
Like the look of the Autograph one, but not ordered yet. Was in my local TK Maxx today, but the bags were quite disappointing.

I have bought this in a soft grey, can't see it on website...
Next bag

Fooogle · 19/05/2014 10:01

hello folks
Partner has bought me a lovely vintage coat as a present but its completely un-winter - yellows/greens, quite patterny. Sounds ungrateful whatever I do but would you just wear it or?...! Coat is such a big visual impact item isn't it but I feel horrible saying anything, things aren't brill anyway and it will just sound critical.

Bags look ok for your hols pink, have you checked charity shops locally (terrible proselytizing as love them!) ? Sometimes they just turn up what you want at the last minute though...specially if you have ordered the others to be on safe side...

Fooogle · 19/05/2014 13:17

tshirt may be bit boxy for you (and me!)

linen one? fancied this though didn't buy it for some reason...

Fooogle · 19/05/2014 13:18

OO dear, am posting spring things on Winter again. Forgive me.

SorrelForbes · 19/05/2014 15:03

Well, I've had to do a different type of shopping this weekend. I needed an 80s party dress for a show I'm in next week. Being a good HoC convert, I tried to stick to my Winter colours Grin.

I shall be styling it with neon pink jewellery and a fetching pink and silver head scarf (a la Madonna in here Desperately Seeking Susan phase)

Jealous? Anyone?

HoC Winters- the cool and clear chat continues here Part 3
Fooogle · 19/05/2014 15:49

Sorrel looks pretty cool to me Wink, am child of the 80s after all...

The post about the coat was meant for Winters... what'd you do with something you know you aren't 'meant' to wear as a gift?

ThePerfectNegroni · 19/05/2014 19:22

Foogle- I saw you posting on the curly hair cut thread (KosherBacon here with a name change). Are you going it cut? I think that outfit would look ace with a lot of big backcombed curls! Big hair is in!

QueenCadbury · 19/05/2014 21:06

foogle that's a tricky one. I'm not sure I could bring myself to wear it as it would bug me that it wouldn't suit me. Is there any way of saying that it doesn't go with your clothes and trying to return it? Or saying that it doesn't fit right? Or if it's vintage is there no way of returning? Otherwise maybe 'lose' it and then leave your colour wallet lying around to wait for a replacement.....

sorrell how exciting. I'd love to go to an 80s party!

Fooogle · 19/05/2014 22:27

Thanks queen... Will try broach it tomorrow. Am renowned for being picky if he buys me things. Sweet or foolish that he keeps trying Wink. Thinks also the colour things are crazy curtailments of free will I think...anyways!
theperfec, no I've not had it cut yet but v keen. May go to Vidal Sassoon training place on fri or may not...! Are you curly of lock?
Found lippy I like from collection (2000). In some kind of gothic range called 'seduction', it's a raspberry/fuschia on me? Right amount of purple...

MrPop · 20/05/2014 09:21

Fooogle I agree with QueenC if you could mention it and return. The colours sound unfortunately particularly non wintery. I don't think I would wear those and do wear non winter stuff at times. Hope it doesn't make things more tense with your DP, that would be my only reservation as you said things are a bit difficult at the moment.

Ginger some white bags mentioned on this blog

Today am wearing black and white cotton shell top, jeans and silver slingbacks. The weather looks like it can't decide what to do.

GingerLemonTea · 20/05/2014 09:27

The berry top from Gap is going back. It's more purpley. An odd colour, sort of a light, powdery purple.

So my next search is for a berry coloured top.......

GingerLemonTea · 20/05/2014 09:28

Probably slouchy/ oversized berry top if anyone has seen one as baby due soon & will hopefully bf with vest top underneath.

ItHasANiceRingWhenYouLaugh · 20/05/2014 11:28

Honestly, if things are difficult atm and it isn't so expensive as to have impacted finances, I would just wear it on an evening out with your OH, then let him see you wear it out of the door a couple more times (take it off after!). It is a coat, so not much call for it just now (if you are in UK) and then.it can.languish for a bit. When things are better, you can talk about how you love the coat but wish you were more suited to.it. People before things.

Fooogle · 20/05/2014 11:52

Thanks folks. Will mull over my moral Winter conundrum... I agree Ithas that it may make things easier if I just keep it though he is pretty good at noticing when things get worn or don't and mentions even if its not til next Winter!
Anyway, lucky me for him thinking of it in the first place just awkward hey!

Berry top Ginger , I'd like one too, and perhaps a berry cardi though its amazing how hard I find it to find a good berry/burgundy shade? Often ends up being on the browner side of burgundy or too something or other.
Didn't see any in Zara the other day in that colour though. Maybe its not 2014 ish for some reason. Will keep eyes peeled

ItHasANiceRingWhenYouLaugh · 20/05/2014 14:46

I've changed my mind, Fooogle. I say that keeping the peace is important if things are bad, but if my DH had 'forgotten' that I'd been diagnosed a winter after the amount I went on about it and the mammoth emotional journey it meant for me, I'd have been really hurt and upset and probably would have said something. So, only you know how important it is to you!

ItHasANiceRingWhenYouLaugh · 20/05/2014 14:47

Oh, and I'm a NC regular. Sorry to just butt in like that without mentioning it.

Fooogle · 20/05/2014 15:13

Is a NC regular a name change? Not got the hang of that though prob should.
Anyway! Enough of my hoo haas, found nice near ice hyacinth silk top and black twisted front one today in the old charidies and lotta clogs came. Gonna have a good try this eve

MrPop · 20/05/2014 15:22

Was about to link to my american vintage outnet top which is berry but it is sold out.

Fooogle ice hyacinth silk top sounds lovely!

ThePerfectNegroni · 21/05/2014 06:27

I really need to go charity shop hunting. I should get my arse out to wilmslow and knutsford. I suspect they might have a higher quality of charity shop.

DH got the cc bill this month. Eek. Half a summer wardrobe for DS and a load of stuff for me. We are looking at houses (and considering putting an offer on somewhere that needs stripping out) so really need to curb the spending.

SorrelForbes · 21/05/2014 08:40

Heading out for the day with DH. Finally wearing my Reid navy a line skirt. I've teamed it with a hot pink tshirt from Primark and navy and white loafers. I feel quite smart Grin

seasalty50 · 21/05/2014 08:57

Hi winters, has anyone seen the Hobbs Iris dress irl? Jersey weight and grey/white. Looks lovely online.
