Are you a winter colouring? If so come and join us for chat about clothes/make up following on from part 1 here and part 2 here

Do you want to know more about what a winter is? These resources are good places to start here and here.

Scared to try bright lipstick? Previous winter favourite makeup items include Mac Plumful, Revlon Lip Butters in Berry Smoothie and Red Velvet and Revlon gloss in Bordeaux. They are all good places to start without being scarily bright for a newly diagnosed winter. More makeup tips can be found here and by reading through previous threads.

Ohhh.... That's gorgeous!

SorrelForbes · 06/05/2014 09:30

I am very pleased with it which is surprising as I'm very fussy about bikinis! Just need a holiday to go with it...

QueenCadbury · 06/05/2014 09:44

That's lovely sorrell.

MissScatterbrain · 06/05/2014 09:59

TU/Sainsburys clothes are good - I find that these last really well.

That graph does not apply to me (or a few other sultry winters I know on here) - I dont have dark eyes and my skin is very pale.

MrPop · 06/05/2014 10:42

Hello,

That is a nice bikini Sorrel. Good Sainsburys shopping. Shame they don't sell online yet. Seems a bit archaic.

Today am wearing hush harems (which I am surgically attached to, though I do wash them!), yellow t-shirt under grey sweatshirt, blue slipper flats, black and white check raincoat and mint green satchel. Sounds like a bit of a mish mash but I think it works!

Also wearing raspberry pie as lipstick. Does anyone find that wearing bright lipstick makes them look older? That's how I feel - I don't know if it is because I just wear a BB cream and so having only my lips made up highlights that the rest of my face isn't (and that it needs a lot of work!)

Its only available in limited sizes but this jumper looks like a lovely ice shade.

I feel like I have taken on QueenC's quest but I am keen for something emerald. Love these coats both are sold out:

boden

Zara

I think I'd like a coat or a chunky knit cardigan - probably not the best time to find either!

SorrelForbes · 06/05/2014 13:31

My Mango order arrived at midday:

Cardigan - going back. Nasty brass coloured buttons, shapeless and unpleasant material. Just meh.

Dress - also going back. Great shape and fit (M) but the white stripes are very cream, almost beige in fact. Just not good enough for £34.99.

Top - a keeper. A pretty good match for Royal Blue (10), perhaps a few % off being as bright as I'd like but a great shape and a lovely feel.

pinkflaming0 · 06/05/2014 22:24

Liking the top Sorrel. I can do drapey if structured and long enough - might give it a whirl. Nice price too.

Bikini lovely too. Just stocked up on three for my hols (first sunshine holiday in 14 years - yay!). Ordered some from Figleaves but managed to find Next ones to fit (am 30DD but 32C/D fitted fine - phew) that helped the budget. Black, burgundy and black/white print. Already have a raspberry one I couldn't resist last year even though I had no need for it at the time.

QueenCadbury · 07/05/2014 12:56

I love that mango top sorrell

SorrelForbes · 07/05/2014 15:24

I'm pleased with the Mango Top and I think it'll be useful. I can see it working with jeans, work trousers and shorts/skirts for summer. It's quite roomy and I could have probably done with a smaller size but then it might have been too small on the chest! It's not boxy, which is main concern!

KosherBacon · 07/05/2014 15:46

Has anybody tried Paper Thinks bags? FaceDirectionofTravel has just mentioned them on another thread and they look fun, although they only have clasp rather than a zip.

OP posts:
FaceDirectionOfTravel · 07/05/2014 16:20

Was wondering whether to mention them here as the colours are so. perfect for us! I have handled them in a shop and they are nice. I got the lust . But not v spring colours...actual season.in.the world, I mean, not HOC colour. Grin And yes, only a clasp.

SorrelForbes · 07/05/2014 17:40

Oh I like that site and I do need a new make - up bag

KosherBacon · 07/05/2014 17:41

Face- I'm confused- are they good winter colours? Have you seen them in real life? The leather looks quite stiff and like it might scratch easily.

Used2bthin · 07/05/2014 20:25

Thanks mrpop, I have decided against ordering it then, going to order two navy tops instead, they look a nice dark navy.

Now going to scan back through this thread to see if I can find myself a top to wear out sat night that is as lovely as the crew one...

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 07/05/2014 21:09

They are good Hoc winter colours. Just not that great for actual spring, I thought, but it depends on your outfit, I guess.

KosherBacon · 07/05/2014 21:53

Face- I do get what you mean! Was being a bit thick there.

The Kaliko skirt came and is going back- it looks very frumpy. I don't know how anybody could have paid £70 for it full price.

The saltwater sandals came- I'm keeping the navy ones. They are a bit tight but mumsnet swears they will stretch a bit.

I'm keeping a pair of the mint velvet boyfriend trousers, although they need shortening even with a turn up! The John Lewis reviews says they stretch so I'm sizing down. I could do a 12 or 14, so opting for the 12.

I still haven't bought any tops for the summer- maybe I need a sainsburys trip for basics. I wish you could order their clothes inline.

MrPop · 08/05/2014 14:36

Just linking these silver sandals for Kosher as I think you liked the &OtherStories ones? Haven't seen them IRL though

KosherBacon · 08/05/2014 16:09

Thanks for thinking of me, MrPop. I've gone for a pair of Saltwaters in navy instead.

OP posts:
Used2bthin · 08/05/2014 17:46

I will be buying those silver sandals though!

Used2bthin · 08/05/2014 18:09

Also thank you sorrelforbes as I just ordered that crew sequin top from their warehouse! Unfortunately I left it to the last minute so won't have it in time for my night out so still looking if anyone has any ideas?

Very pleased to have ordered it though so thanks for the code etc didnt even realise you could do that if the shops had sold out!

Used2bthin · 09/05/2014 14:52

Anyone around and up for helping me with a top for tomorrow? I can do strappy as have a lovely cover up navy thing with black detail so could do navy or black I guess or maybe am ice colour? Or just any going out top ?

I never go out and I hate all my clothes today...

BearPear · 09/05/2014 16:11

My poor credit card has been pounded since I was diagnosed as a jewel winter (but DH is off abroad golfing with his buddies so it all balances out!). Anyway, I'm also a natural classic and I ordered these today - do you think they fit the bill? They're from Wallis.

HoC Winters- the cool and clear chat continues here Part 3
SorrelForbes · 09/05/2014 17:33

Used2bthin Have you looked in Mango or Warehouse? They often have nice tops. The Mango one I linked to a few posts up thread comes in navy. I always struggle with going out clothes!

BearPear I like those. I'm a Jewel Winter but a Romantic Classic so I'm not sure if they fit the Natural Classic criteria I'm afraid.

Used2bthin · 09/05/2014 18:38

Sorrelforbes thanks I liked that mango top in the bright blue , nearly ordered but dithered and will be stuck with the shops here now (no mango) . Annoyed with myself aboutthe crew top, its gorgeous but won't arrive till after the night out, I should have ordered sooner!

I will have a look at warehouse though thanks as we have one.

KosherBacon · 09/05/2014 19:50

ARGHHHH Major major screw up that I am panicking about.

I have done lots of internet shopping post style day (5 Phase Eight dresses, 4 pairs of Mint Velvet jeans etc) so I can try on and send stuff back I don't like.

Anyway, its all paid for by credit card. I've only gone and lost the bloody card and had to cancel it. Anyhoos returns are always paid back on to the credit card you paid with, so I am now petrified that I am going to get loads of store credit rather than refunds. We are talking about £5-600 worth of stuff. I might be able to sell the store credit on, but it will be at a loss if I do it on ebay etc.

ARGHHHHH!
