Are you a winter colouring? If so come and join us for chat about clothes/make up following on from part 1 here and part 2 here

Do you want to know more about what a winter is? These resources are good places to start here and here.

Scared to try bright lipstick? Previous winter favourite makeup items include Mac Plumful, Revlon Lip Butters in Berry Smoothie and Red Velvet and Revlon gloss in Bordeaux. They are all good places to start without being scarily bright for a newly diagnosed winter. More makeup tips can be found here and by reading through previous threads.

Great pin links.

My style is great for running around in toddlers although I sometimes wonder why I bother trying to dress nicely. At toddler group my new top got covered in paint and today dd spilt squash all over my jacket Hmm

Used2bthin · 02/05/2014 13:19

Mr Pop I have just put that boden blouse in my basket, is it white with navy do you think or black? Thought it would be a good work blouse to go with navy trousers.

MrPop · 02/05/2014 13:41

hi used2bthin it hasn't arrived yet, but I will update when it does.

Used2bthin · 02/05/2014 13:46

Thanks mr pop. Although I now have £200 plus worth in my shopping basket so may need to make some choices!! Ooops!

Used2bthin · 02/05/2014 13:53

On a separate note, if anyone has seen any nice going out tops/blouses which are good colours please let me know as I have just had a disappointment with atterly road after a picture of a gorgeous navy blouse with lace arms popped up, its out of stock in every size and I don't think the white or black versions would work for me. Off out next weekend so plenty of time but would really like something to make me feel better as am feeling frumpy!

SorrelForbes · 02/05/2014 18:35

I mentioned a top up-thread which is from Crew Clothing. It's called Louisa and the code W32-29336. It's Navy with sequins on the front and has proper sleeves! I can't find it on their site but it might be worth ringing them to see if they have any?

That's really really lovely in fact I think I saw it in the shop a while back but couldn't justify it as was looking for work stuff. I want it! Thanks will ask them in case anywhere still has them.

KosherBacon · 02/05/2014 21:48

I have been on a Phase Eight mission.

I just bought
This dress in navy and purple
This dress
This top in forest and purple
The majority of it is going to go back. I am hoping I end up with at least one dress and one top. All of it is highly impractical for summer, but I realise I need winter clothes too, and lets be honest, we don't get that much warm weather!

I am really considering [http://www.toast.co.uk/product/womens+footwear/F1BAD/SALT+WATER+SANDAL.htm?categoryref=%2fcategory.aspx%3fcategoryid%3dwomens%2520footwear%26seoterm%3dfootwear%26nav%3dwomen%26menu&pcat=womens+footwear&adimage=&clr=F1BAD_navy Saltwater sandals]] Not very natural romantic, but I have to be practical and realise I have a toddler and need flat shoes.

Now I am considering boyfriend jeans too, but not sure if I can do it!

SorrelForbes · 02/05/2014 21:55

I'd be interested to hear how that forst dress hangs? Do you think it'll be very clingy? The hip details fits really well with my Romantic Classic guidelines.

KosherBacon · 03/05/2014 07:40

Sorrel- will do, although I am a bit worried it might be too clingy for me too. The reviews said it was heavy fabric so lets see. Its free returns so I am giving it a go.

I also have bought some Next boy fit jeans. I normally don't shop from Next but as I think the shape of jean is going to be a one season style, I thought I'd give them a go as the shape fits in with my style of trousers from my style day.

So I found this on pinterest and wondered how true it was? It was right for me- is it right for you?

used2b the boden blouse arrived today and I am sending it back. It is off white / cream rather than white (this seems to happen so often). The stars are black.

KosherBacon I come out as a winter-summer (though I was a bit unsure about some of the answers like skin tone and eye colour) and I think I was diagnosed more as a winter-autumn. I don't think I look as high contrast as a lot of winters. I am dark haired and eyed but my skin has a tan to it so I don't look as 'contrasty' as Audrey Tatou does in the pic.

MrPop · 03/05/2014 20:04

Like your shopping btw Kosher

Fooogle · 03/05/2014 20:12

kosher I have saltwater sandals and really like them though finding the flatness harder to adjust to this year (third year I think!) have red and tan(thinking may sell tan on eBay and get white...). They're really comfy and practical shhh and think they are ok if you like a vintagey look though lots of people love or hate them...

Not many wild purchases here. Some slim 7/8 gap trousers in black... Think they fit ok though hips are wide so side pockets always an issue!... Navy linen wide ones from boden. Ordered navy low clog things a la lotta from Stockholm but cheaper and crossing fingers...

KosherBacon · 03/05/2014 20:37

Foogle- you sound like me. I really need some work trousers (I don't have any that fit at all anymore) yet I can't have have pockets either as they gape. I might not keep the Saltwater sandals- they might be a bit too folksy for me, and they might be a bit too high on the foot. I am not at all folky or vintagey either.

MrPop- thanks, lets hope some of it is actually staying. I also bought this although I am expecting to get disappointed as its 100% polyester, even if it does have good reviews.

Can I also share a bag love? I keep looking at this on my Pinterest board and am in love with it. Unfortunately they aren't available anymore. {{insert sad face here}}

Well there's a reason I never order from next! The waterfall jacket is awful- 100% polyester, no lining, just awful. The jeans are unbelievable vanity sizing and the navy suede slipper shoes gape!

SorrelForbes · 04/05/2014 12:49

I don't think I own anything from Next at the moment, with the exception of a pair of Relaxed skinnies.

Well, today I went into Sainsbury's to get a cheap aerobics t-shirt and some leggings for DFD and came out with:

A long vest in a shade that almost matches 11 (Electric Blue) - £5
A stripey navy and white vest (really nicely cut, tight under the arms so no bra showing and fitted on the waist) - £4
A long pink vest which will do nicely as a pool cover-up (between shades 15 & 16, so not perfect but at that price I don't care!) - £6
A stripey dress with sleeves! Weird pockets near the hem which gape and spoil the line and brass buttons on the shoulders but I think I'll sew up the pockets and replace the buttons as it'll be very useful for holidays. - £12

Sorrel- I think I need a sainsburys trip to stock up on some basics!!

OP posts:
homeroad · 05/05/2014 18:30

I'm in danger of having a wardrobe full of basics! I need the completers.

My go-to colours as a newly diagnosed sultry winter are the bright pinks and blues to add to the navy/grey/black/white neutrals.

SorrelForbes · 05/05/2014 20:37

I'm not building a wardrobe of white and navy, oh no not me Blush

I've just ordered these from HoF. They've got a 12 hour flash sale on occasion wear which ends at 5am tomorrow!

QueenCadbury · 05/05/2014 20:42

Gorgeous sandals sorrell and great sainsburys shopping. I find their clothes pretty good.

kosher is that the longchamp bag? It's gorgeous and it was on my consideration list last year when I had birthday money.

The thing about which winter are you doesn't even include me as I'm blonde!

SorrelForbes · 05/05/2014 21:09

I had some Untold party sandals a couple of years ago but they were gold so have been given the heave-ho! I'm ridiculously pleased with my Sainsbury's purchases. The price offsets the stupid amount my new bikini cost!

kosher That bag is very nice indeed. Maybe a second hand one will turn up on eBay?

KosherBacon · 05/05/2014 21:48

Garhhh! iPad ate my long post

QC and Sorrell- yes it's Longchamp, but there are some fakes floating around. They also did it in a charcoal grey which was lush. I do wish it had shoulder length straps not grab handles. I also don't have £300 for a handbag at the moment.

Sorrell- what bikini have you bought?

I just ordered this skirt. I'm hoping that the colours will be a good match for the winter ice colours and blues! Unfortunately it's polyester but we will give it a go.

I also bought the Mint Velvet boyfriend jeans in three different sizes as I have no idea what their sizing is like.

I've been on a shopping binge but most of it is going back. I'm not keeping any "it'll do" stuff anymore. It all has to look great.

SorrelForbes · 05/05/2014 21:55

I bought this bikini with the shorts bottoms. It's very flattering (I think!)

SorrelForbes · 05/05/2014 21:57

Hopefully this link will work!
