Are you a winter colouring? If so come and join us for chat about clothes/make up following on from part 1 here and part 2 here

Do you want to know more about what a winter is? These resources are good places to start here and here.

Scared to try bright lipstick? Previous winter favourite makeup items include Mac Plumful, Revlon Lip Butters in Berry Smoothie and Red Velvet and Revlon gloss in Bordeaux. They are all good places to start without being scarily bright for a newly diagnosed winter. More makeup tips can be found here and by reading through previous threads.

Oops. Posted too early! I have my style day this weekend. I am more of sultry winter so the ice colours look awful on me. I am struggling to even think of a summer wardrobe

Witchywitch I do like it, just not on me Grin. I think I will send it back, it's £20 which could be spent on something else. I'm now waiting for my Em & Me white top to arrive but I bet it'll be bloody ivory

KosherBacon What 'style' did you come out as?

Fooogle · 23/04/2014 13:29

Hello Winters
Anyone seen any good summery shoes but with a closed toe? My work stipulates that for footwear which is really annoying! I am not great with heels but can manage a wedge though I'm 5'11'' so don't really need much of one. Anyone found anything good to wear with skirts and wide leg linen type trousers?

Sorry about the top witchy
Hope your Me & Em one comes soon sorrel

KosherBacon · 23/04/2014 13:43

Sorrel- it's this Saturday so I don't know! DH has given me permission to shop and I've had three days off work and not bought anything! I am desperate to spend!

SorrelForbes · 23/04/2014 14:30

Oops, that'll teach me to skim-read! I hope you enjoy it. I loved mine and I confess that I have spent a fair amount since the day. However, I can now look in my wardrobe and know that everything in there does actually look good on!

SorrelForbes · 23/04/2014 14:31

Fooogle What about a pair of loafers? I've got some black ones with a silver buckle thing and some blue Boden ones. I've worn both with jeans, skirts and trousers so far.

pinkflaming0 · 23/04/2014 20:13

Just received this t-shirt and it's in between ice blue and ice green my two best 'ice' colours so definitely a keeper. It is fairly transparent so requires a nude t-shirt bra. Also comes up quite small. The grey is nice too.

SorrelForbes · 25/04/2014 13:49

Fooogle My Me & Em t-shirt arrived today and sadly it's going straight back later on this afternoon. Although it doesn't look it on-line it's very boxy indeed, almost square. I'm 5' 4" and it only came to the top of my waist band. It's also very thin and tbh definitely not worth £35. I think it would look much better on someone tall and willowy with a smaller chest (it sort of just fell, smock like, from my 30GGs).

Am I the fussiest seeker of a white top ever?89

SorrelForbes · 25/04/2014 13:50

The 3yr old added the 89 Grin

SorrelForbes · 25/04/2014 14:20

I like the shape but I don't like the cuffs, too casual/boyish, sorry.

I want this one

Witchywitch · 25/04/2014 14:23

Yes that is nice. Just tell yourself that it wouldn't fit properly anyway. That's what I always do when I want something too expensive.

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 25/04/2014 14:54

Get someone to make it for you. I'm considering doing that for a summery shift dress...they all seem to have crew necks which are not flattering on me...I want a scoop neck.

SorrelForbes · 25/04/2014 18:09

That is a very good idea!

QueenCadbury · 25/04/2014 19:36

Just come across this ice blue top. I rarely do v neck and I always find phase eight too big but it looks a good colour.

QueenCadbury · 25/04/2014 19:39

ice blue jacket

Fooogle · 25/04/2014 20:21

queen that looks promising though I bet I'd put a hole in v fast not v dainty lady or kids would

sorrel sorry about your top. Never ordered from them. All seems overpriced so interesting to hear about quality...

Like idea of getting things made or indeed making it myself. did look into a while ago and was deterred by cost if it was perfect then that'd be amazing!

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 25/04/2014 21:25

I think getting something made can be on a par with buying a quality department store item, esp if simple.

Fooogle · 25/04/2014 22:01

face, it's my stingey side coming out Grin. I may try and make something myself though once you've bought nice fabric I imagine it's not cheap, I guess nor should it be...

MrsCocoa · 25/04/2014 23:59

Hello the Winters. Think I belong with you but don't have cash to get 'done' at the moment. Have looked at the links on this thread - would you mind if I tested out my thinking with you?

  • I have v dark brown hair (no red/gold);
  • this contrasts with relatively pale neutral skin (silver jewelry looks better than gold), and
  • My eye colour is difficult to describe - overall a sort of military green with very dark grey/blue outer rings. But close to the pupil moves into a ring of hazel and then almost to topaz.

So overall quite dark, a lot of contrast and, on balance, cool rather than warm = a winter?

I look best in strong blue-based colours (fine in pretty much all blues, cool greens, blue-toned reds pinks and purples). Feel particularly at home in strong raspberry red and blue-toned true deep violets/bordering on indigo.
I look hideous in pastels, salmon, orange, warm beiges/nudes etc.

Am I likely to be right? If so, any idea what sort of Winter I am?

Thanks in advance....

Fooogle · 26/04/2014 19:29

Hi mrscocoa, if you suit those colours you sound a bit like me, a jewel winter? But may well be wrong!!!

shinybaubles · 26/04/2014 19:32

Hi everyone can I join, I had my colours done a week ago now, and am apparently a sultry winter. But I am really struggling with the decision, and what it means for clothes and how to put it all together, it doesn't help that dh keeps saying are you sure she got you right. What to do any pointers please...anything at all.

MrsCocoa · 26/04/2014 20:35

Thanks Fooogle - is that HOC or CMB?

Fooogle · 26/04/2014 20:41

Mrs that was hoc though I was wrongly don't by CMB as a spring a good while back but that's another story!
shiny think general advice is try and 'live' in your colours for a few weeks and see how you get on? It's hard to get your head round. I also went back to double check and the consultants seem happy to email about ideas and worries?

QueenCadbury · 26/04/2014 22:10

mrscocoa it does sound like you're a winter.

Welcome shiny. What makes your dh say that? Do you feel it's right?
