Are you a winter colouring? If so come and join us for chat about clothes/make up following on from part 1 here and part 2 here

Do you want to know more about what a winter is? These resources are good places to start here and here.

Scared to try bright lipstick? Previous winter favourite makeup items include Mac Plumful, Revlon Lip Butters in Berry Smoothie and Red Velvet and Revlon gloss in Bordeaux. They are all good places to start without being scarily bright for a newly diagnosed winter. More makeup tips can be found here and by reading through previous threads.

Sorrel, update on the pink asos top. It's gorgeous. The material is a bit stretchy, doesn't look very light but in my opinion will be absolutely fine for summer. Love love, love it.

SorrelForbes · 18/04/2014 17:02

Witchywitch Bugger, will have to order it then! Grin

Witchywitch · 18/04/2014 17:08

Hope you like it if you do sorrel. It hangs really nicely, not too boxy, great colour, all in all I'm really pleased

SorrelForbes · 18/04/2014 17:10

Ordered! I went for my usual 12. Hopefully it'll be my 'bright' top for the summer when I'm fed up with white and navy.

Witchywitch · 18/04/2014 17:13

The sizing seems just as you would expect so im sure that will be fine. I haven't worn pink since I was a child, I'm surprised about how much I love it, HOC have a lot to answer for!!

Fooogle · 19/04/2014 07:27

tshirt this any good for the top hunt? Sure saw one the other day in town but can't remember where. Everything seems to be creamy white though when I look closely!
Thanks for all the ideas folks, been lurking. I've not bought much. Definitely unsure how to do summer dressing but thinking need white (though always looks see through?!) also want some good need navy trousers or very wide leg linen ones. I'm very hip heavy at the mo Blush so size 14 and long rise so basically bad trouser fitting shape!

Fooogle · 19/04/2014 07:30

When I say not bought much I've bought about twenty lipsticks! Lots from all your suggestions Grin. Waiting on mac craving now...!
What do you use as a bag as well? I've lots of nice dark brown ones acquired from tk maxx over years but not sensible winter ones... (Sorry poster below, not got perfect cross body one either!...)

flewlady · 19/04/2014 08:59

No opinions? Is it shockingly horrid? :( Any alternatives?

SorrelForbes · 19/04/2014 09:17

Fooogle I think you may have found my white t-shirt! I've ordered it so will let you know how it looks! You're right, everything in the shops seems to be cream, ivory or off-white (and of course coral and aqua!).

Have you tried the Boden Chelsea trousers? They come in navy and are very flattering indeed. I'm a curvy hourglass and they fit well on my hips and waist.

SorrelForbes · 19/04/2014 09:20

Sorry flewlady I missed your post! I'm not a fan of shrugs as they tend to bulk me out in the chest region which is where I most definitely don't need any more volume! I'd be worried that the navy wouldn't match the navy on the dress.

I've got this in navy but the pink might look nice with that dress?

TheGruffalo2 · 19/04/2014 09:36

I'm not keen on open, curve fronted shrugs, but I do like tie fronted ones. The ties distract from my upper midriffs bulges! I also find the V neck line it creates is flattering on me. I suppose it all boils down to body shape.

So I actually like your tie fronted one flewlady, however I think I'd go for a different colour to navy to add contrast, rather than navy on navy.

flewlady · 19/04/2014 09:52

Thank you gruffalo! The bolero style is a bit bosomy - this one sits better.

Thank you sorrel the cardigan you linked to has a round neck and buttons which I feel would interfere with the neckline but thanks for the link :)

Fooogle · 19/04/2014 13:13

Let us know sorrel, I would normally be too stingey to spend that on a tshirt but...
I'd like to try those boden trouser too but they didn't have any in my size except with a 12 week wait or something!!! It'll be autumn nearly by then!
Shrugs... I've not worn for a good while. Look odd with my long body I think. Hope you find the right one though.

SorrelForbes · 19/04/2014 13:53

Fooogle It's a bit over my budget too but I'm getting desperate! There was a 6 week wait on the trousers in my size but they came in 4/5 days!

Standingonlego · 19/04/2014 21:06

not sure why those links were in full, but think that they work

MrPop · 20/04/2014 09:03

Sorry this is a bit late but EASTER20 gets you 20% off me and em. Sorrel - you could contact them to see if they could apply it retrospectively?

Tempted by this - I have it in grey and it is very useful.

Today I am wearing grey me + em joggers, a pale yellow t-shirt poking out under a navy neoprene sweatshirt. Seems a bit colder today.

QueenCadbury · 20/04/2014 09:19

flew I agree with whoever else said to buy a coloured shrug to give the outfit a lift. Fuschia/raspberry/ emerald type colours would be my suggestion.

SorrelForbes · 20/04/2014 10:22

MrPop Thanks, I'll email them!

It is cold, I've put the heating on.

pinkflaming0 · 20/04/2014 13:25

Thanks for the Top Shop links. The website is a revelation - I never spot anything I like in the actual shops but there's quite a lot I like online.

Does this look icy enough or is it too pastel?

Icy colours not my best but ice green is ** at 75% and would be great to break out of the white/navy rut Smile

KosherBacon · 20/04/2014 15:00

I'd say it looks more pastel than icy. I tend to think of the ice colours as being like those Dulux paints, white with a hint of whatever colour. I could be wrong though!

OP posts:
Fooogle · 22/04/2014 10:20

Yes Pink fear that's prob a pastel. I find ice colours impossible to find but really want some as quite a few are ** at 75%...

How much is it sensible to spend on one Boden order. It adds up and now the total is about 350£ I know I won't keep any most of it but it seems like a lot of 'money' in clothing to have floating around the place!!

My MAC Craving lipstick is on its way so am crossing my fingers. Honestly the number of lipsticks I have and then don't wear any at all...Its embarrassing! Grin

SorrelForbes · 22/04/2014 22:16

Witchywitch my pink ASAP top arrived this evening. I loved it until I tried it on Sad

Much too boxy for me with too much width on the shoulders and waist. I ordered a 12 but I'm such an hourglass that I think a 10 would still be too big on the waist and there's no way an 8 would fit over this chest! The neck line was too high as well.

However, it was so cheap I'm seriously thinking of having it altered!

Witchywitch · 23/04/2014 08:52

Ah, sorry you don't like it sorrel I guess it just shows what suits one person might not suit another sadly. At least asos do free delivery and returns though if you do decide to send it back, that's one of the best things about them IMO.
Ps, I wore mine on the weekend, still love it!

KosherBacon · 23/04/2014 08:59

I am desperate for a good shop.
